  1. maybe add service your timing belt to that list too
  2. I think around Chapleau pretty well any fair sized lake with good walleye fishing either has a camp on it or guys are getting in via logging roads and ATVs. Its probably not quite the same as the Thunder Bay district. I'll pm you an option though.
  3. Terrible news. Very sad to hear that. From her posts she seemed like a very positive energy type of person.
  4. If I was in a spring pike derby, and the fish run from 4-8 pounds, I'd probably throw the HJ 14 Husky Jerk all day.
  5. My brother and I used to pride ourselves on our launches at Bronte, Port Credit and Queenston etc. I'd be backing in quick, he'd be on the tiller and dry start it a bit early, I'd hit the brakes and off he'd go and I'd leave a little rubber on the ramp on my way up.
  6. Did you check the stocking tab to see if they're stocking rainbows? If they did stock the lake in the past but don't anymore, they still list it as a present species. There's a few lakes I know, same deal, it hasn't been stocked in 10 years but they still claim the species is in there. Maybe there is a few big, old remnants swimming around, lol.
  7. On Fish Online, there's a little icon to report a species. There's probably a few misidentified species being reported by people. There could be channel cats in there or more likely somebody misidentified a Brown Bullhead.
  8. I was hoping Babcock would've had the boys playing better D and protecting leads at this point in the season. Not that it was Freddie's fault, but I would start Mac tomorrow.
  9. What a roller coaster that was. 2 pts in Boston, in regulation is huge.
  10. I don't think it's a huge deal what happened, but no need hiding the name the outfitter if the story is true. Who do you want to protect, the outfitter or the guy thinking of taking his young kids out for an afternoon of ice fishing? Most importantly, I'm glad everyone is ok, it could have been a sad story.
  11. My Dad just bought a Piranha Max 197 c that was being blown out at CT. The plug for the transducer has 3 pins in the shape of a triangle. I called and the lady said an ice ducer isn't available for this model. Does this make sense to anybody? edit- called the USA #, an ice ducer is available, called CAN back with a part #, she says "oh, ok, but it won't be in until late February" So to do an exchange, the ducer has to be unopened in the original packaging, so my Dad can't use his unit until likely after ice fishing season is over if he wants to exchange for an ice fishing ducer, hahaha I'm a Humminbird guy but this is poor customer service.
  12. Yep,it's the prey with spiny dorsal fins like bass that can choke a pike. I've seen a few dead pike with a walleye more than half their size sticking out of their mouth.
  13. Yeah, I'm familiar with those criteria Barefoot. I think canine claws would make a sharper, deep imprint in the snow. I think that's toe drag, no claws. I think it's elongated because it's moving forward, it still looks wider than long to me. Whatever it is, the scat has lots hair (probably rabbit) so it's probably not domesticated. In this picture the print in the top left would have a claw mark breaking that clean piece of snow if it was canine.
  14. An update if anyone's interested. The biologist has all the pictures of the prints that I have. He said he wanted the scat but I haven't heard back from him and I'm not going to bug him. It's been about a week since I emailed the pics. I know the MNR is understaffed and busy. I'm not holding my breath though. The guy that said claws in the pic- pretty sure that's just hair imprinted in the snow when it moved forward. Like Singing Dog, I'm skeptical too, but I've seen big feline prints a few times over the years. It's the first time I have some scat.
  15. I'm like that too. I've bought some dogs and I will admit it. Not just outboards, any product. But there are some guys are too proud or in denial or something, could be ego, I don't know.
  16. I know I can come across like that. I didn't mean too, it's just my opinion not fact. To be honest, I thought it was common knowledge about the Merc and BRP stuff. JMO again. I'm just trying to help the OP, not trying to step on toes.
  17. With the Brunswick You could do that for sure. But with Brunswick, they give you a package deal price. It will cost a fair bit more to buy the boat and trailer and then buy another outboard and get it installed. If it's a brand new motor, new design, new technology, all the prospective buyer can go on is the company's track record. I'm thinking it's more important to buy something reliable that doesn't need repairs, instead of having dealers nearby to do repairs.
  18. The problem with questions like this, is that guys are loyal to the stuff they've bought and can't fathom or admit that it may not have been the best choice. As for the outboard, do a little research, talk to marine mechanics, it won't take long, it's all there in black and white.
  19. For the outboard, it's not only what you have owned, it's what your friends and friends of friends have had, what you've used when on a fishing trip, and what you've read, I would avoid merc if the cost isn't ridiculous
  20. Me too. This past weekend, I didn't know if it would be safe for us to get out. I went and checked and there was 8". It's like the immaculate conception of ice. Weird.
  21. The Minden biologist Adam, wants the pictures and the scat. He seemed like a pretty cool, easy going guy. We'll see how things turns out, it should be interesting.
  22. I use mono for tip ups. An advantage mono might have over braid, if you do hook something bigger, the elasticity will give you a buffer and some forgiveness if the fish takes a strong run since you're hand bombing it in.
  23. We picked up some scat and urine. I called the MNR to see if they want it. I'm waiting to hear back.
  24. What happened with my splake lake, was the guy paddled it in the summer, not fishing, just a day out in the canoe. He knew enough to recognize a winter picture that I posted. I know that guys will do hours of research to figure out spots.
  25. Maybe it's just me, but I'm thinking those websites are fabricated bull poo
