Ditto, I've had my fun, more fun is just gravy.

As Joe Bowen would say, "GOD BLESS YOU BOYS!"

A critical game like this and you could pretty well hear a pin drop at the ACC. Sad. HELP THE BOYS AND MAKE SOME darn NOISE! or give your tickets to someone who will.

Bounces and the first goal are huge. We were strong in the 1st and it could have been easily 2 nothing Leafs after 1 and things would have been different, and we would be singing a different tune.

Me too. I was so stunned and pissed off, I didn't show up for work for 2 days. I've been tracking the statistical analysis and the odds of the Leafs making the playoffs the last couple weeks. Before tonight's game, it's a 97.6% chance the Leafs get in. I've been a fan a long time, I'm not counting my chickens, they could easily crap the bed.

How deep is the lake? The locals say there is lakers in there or that's the first one they've seen? Do they charge you to fish the lake? Lol I find the spring lake trout fishing easier/ better about 3 weeks after ice out when the water's warmer, say in the 50's. If the water's cold, in the 30's, they are often deep, scattered and not very active.

Like other guys have mentioned, it sounds odd. In a storage bin full of fish there's only 1 laker and it's a monster. It sounds like the laker population might be very small and they might not be reproducing anymore.

The Compass Clockwise To Lunker Lakers.

Great stories Bunk! Congrats on the Bogie win and congrats on the Bravo's bogies rolling past the 5k milestone. -
That's a snowshoe hare, they are brown in the summer, probably see them at dusk. That's the southern edge of their range but they are still around for sure.

The newer 4 strokes may not last for decades like some of the 2 strokes from the 80's. The marine mechanic by my cottage has seen quite a few 4 strokes (different brands) about 12 years old that are basically worn out to the point they're not worth fixing.

I think it would be too hard to control the temperature. A couple of degrees difference is significant in a hot tub.

I think some animals are hard to get on a trail camera. They know it's there (from scent I guess) and they avoid it. The wolf biologist at the Haliburton Forest said I won't get wolves on my trail camera and I haven't and there's quite a few around. He said the best way to get them is in the winter get a beaver carcass from the trapper, make sure it's frozen, covered with ice so other critters have trouble getting at it, and it will likely take 3 weeks until the wolves will be bold enough to come. To get my scat tested it's a minimum of $550, maximum $900, so that's definitely not happening.

Yes but Isles lost. Can't control that other stuff, just play hard and hope for the best.

NEW DRONE REGULATIONS....what a crock!
chris.brock replied to limeyangler's topic in General Discussion
I am too and I would guess most people are. But for pretty much all of Haliburton County it is now illegal to fly drones because of the aerodrome regulation and there's some many lakes up there. I don't own a drone but my nephew and cousin do own fairly expensive ones. Those cool pictures are going to be a thing of the past Geoff. I know exactly how it's going to play out at our place. -neighbor I know tells us don't fly that -we tell him where to go -he calls the cops -if it's not busy the cops show up -a warning or fine is issued -no more drone flying because a second offence is going to be bad I'm with Simon, this was botched. -
Only one week available, that's a good sign. I would try and contact some of the other guys who are booked. There's likely some groups that have been going to Wenebegon for many years and have gained some pretty good knowledge on the lake. Those Chapleau area lakes can be tricky for a first time venture. PM me if you want some sites where the Wenebegon regulars might be lurking.

Have you ever worked for a company that: NF

No, if I get an ambiguous letter like that, I'm suspended or fired. -
That's a really cool trip. I've never been, I don't think many guys on this board have either, but what time of year are you going?

NEW DRONE REGULATIONS....what a crock!
chris.brock replied to limeyangler's topic in General Discussion
Irishfield, power boating, canoeing, drone flying, float plane flying (not commercial), they're all hobbies for different people. Gotta find common ground. It doesn't bother me at all, but my buddy's float plane ticks a lot of our cottage neighbors off. It's loud as hell, he could hit a swimmer or boater or screw up and crash into something. -
Thanks Jon, I contacted them, see what happens. This has probably been posted before but it's a great study and hard to dispute. https://2qhej2409oidqhffjfknkrvz-wpengine.netdna-ssl.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/OMNR-study-confirming-presence-of-cougars-in-Ontario.pdf

Interesting, I didn't know that. Seems a little silly though. Good luck to the poacher targeting Ontario cougars, probably a better chance for a squatch or a unicorn.

Flying outposts with indoor plumbing (UPDATED)
chris.brock replied to bigcreekdad's topic in General Discussion
It's uncommon, but indoor plumbing does exist up there. Borger is the guy to talk to for trip planning. PM me if you want his number. -
Cool story smitty! The expert confirming this is a taxidermist, not someone from the MNR. It seems like the MNR doesn't want any part of this discussion and I don't know why. Just weird. I can't think of a reason for them avoiding the topic. I didn't know Gord Ellis also worked for the CBC either. edit- I've got some scat in my freezer from Haliburton. It's not my style to bug the MNR, they gave me the cold shoulder. If anyone has a contact to do a DNA test let me know. If the cost wasn't too stupid I would pay out of pocket.

Looking at the Polak hit a few more times, I don't think Bjorkstand knew Polak was in pursuit and the hit was coming when he cut back, regardless, I don't think there should have been a suspension, Bjork cut back and Polak isn't that type of player. I like putting a skilled guy who doesn't play the PK in the box, like they did with Kessel and now sometimes do with Marner, because when the door opens there's a chance for a stretch pass and a breakaway.
-
Exactly, Pollack was committed and Bjork turned his back, suicide. I'd like to see Babcock throw punches with Twatarella.
