  1. I've been fishing the French for the last 15 years, it's a shame to see what has happened to the fishery, I think it's toomany people from the lodges, cottages and locals keeping all the walleye, bass and pike that are half decent, just too much pressure
  2. my cousin has one, it seems to be equivalent to my $80 coleman catalytic, maybe not as clean burning though
  3. I'm a Leaf fan, but, I'd guess they will almost make the playoffs, I think you have to go to the bottom (and draft well) to get to the top, watch for the Oilers in 3 years, just like Chicago getting Toews and Kane, and Pittsburgh getting Crosby and Malkin, I don't think Kessel was worth what they gave up 3-1 Leafs over Habs right now, go Leafs go!
  4. yeah, we did Ramsey about 6 years ago, surprising good walleye fishing, good average size too, we considered portaging into Ramsey for a day trip I never really felt that I figured out Bisco, maybe a couple more days and we would have
  5. stayed at Grey Owl, nice outfitter although $45 for 5 gallons of mixed gas is a little steep, they said the party in our cabin the week before did really well, we crunched the numbers, they had caught about 5.6 fish/ guy/ day, we did about the same, my best day was 11 walleye, the biggest walleye was around 2.5 lbs, no big pike, lost about a 6 lbs pike when it grabbed my walleye on the way to the boat portaged into Indian for a day, fishing seemed only slightly better than Bisco, the guys we saw in Indian said that people flying into Indian often portage the other way into Bisco we still had a great trip, lots of laughs, decent fishing and great scenery, we won't go back though
  6. thanks guys, hopefully we will get over to Indian Lk too, should be a good trip, I'll post how we do
  7. For our yearly fishing trip, we're going to Ritchies End of Trail for a week, never been there before, we like to hit new spots every year if anyone has any comments or info. it would add to my excitement, thanks
  8. I don't know where you're going, but I bought a loon caller at the Marten River trading post store, it was around $4, it works/ sounds good
  9. we use a water filtration pump, so we can drink lake water without boiling it, we used to bring alot of tackle but found we didn't use most of it, we use mainly jigs and plastic twisters, rapalas and wally divers, and a few spoons for the pike - 2 way radios are handy - we only bring rubber boots and a pair of flip flops each have a blast, let us know how you do
  10. thanks, I'll check that out, it would have been interesting to see
  11. yeah, the French can be tough, hopefully you still had good week
  12. I thought it was the Kinvale restaurant, but nope, maybe it isn't there anymore, I remember hearing that the CAN record small mouth bass from Bark (or Birch Bark) Lake was mounted and displayed somewhere in Kinmount thanks, if anyone has any input
  13. Fished there for a week 5 years ago and thought the fishing was so-so, walleye were tough but ran into some decent small mouth
  14. I was in QC 2 weeks ago, 55 pack Coors light was $51 at Costco
  15. sounds like a great idea for a show, sort of a reality fishing show, it should be a good for a wider viewing audience too
  16. the Kawarthas or Scugog are close and have fish, heavy line is better so if you do hook one, you don't have a half hour long battle with the fish, totally exhausting it try casting bucktail spinners around obvious structure and weeds, the Mepps muskie killer would work, I like black good luck, let us know how you do
  17. 4 guys for a week, Simard Lk and the portage lakes, 489 fish (pike and walleye), a 6, 12.5 and 16.2 lbs pike landed, 4 pike over 10lbs lost at the boat too, a 5 lbs walleye landed (all fish weighed on a digital scale) I had read some bad stuff online about Caesars and Oliver, but Oliver and John were great, the outboards were all brand new, they were very helpful, with great customer service, as well as great guys, oh, and the over-weight beer flight came in exactly when they had promisedCaes.htm
  18. I've tried it for walleye too, I couldn't figure them out either, but I've seen other guys getting them early in the season
  19. we always make jokes about Cronzy getting every walleye possible, into his belly, as quickly as possible "Hey, this is the land of plenty"
  20. when we fly in, live bait isn't needed or worth the trouble, but, maybe try the trap in a deeper, slow current section of a feeder creek
  21. You should be able to find them with your electronics (70 to 90 feet is where I would look), the fish near bottom are likely more catchable than the suspended ones, verticle jig a spoon or tube, or even still fish with a shiner
  22. is a cast and cruches an option? if not, twist my arm, I can fill in for him
  23. I agree with Paudash, minnows are effective and good for beer drinking. If possible, lower straight down with a 3 way rig and a shiner, hope the rock bass don't hassle you too much We use to fish off a Kawartha dam, after dark, just this way
  24. what is dusting the hole?
  25. the fishing can be tough in that area, we fished the north channel (not too far from Schells, and as busy) for years, it was tough, a couple years I didn't catch a walleye all week, a good technique is to have a nap in the afternoon, and fish from 8pm until midnight, troll stick baits after dark in 6 to 10 feet of water, fishing after dark is tough and buggy but we seemed to do better and got some bigger fish too
