I grew up with Bob Cole (Harry Neal too) covering the Leafs and play off games (most play off games didn't include the Leafs), I love the tradition and the Canadiana aspect, but I think it's time they found someone new, I find it hard to watch while listening to his many mistakes and oddly phrased descriptions and mental lapses, I find myself watching another play- off game just to avoid his commentary a great hockey guy, but anyone else share the same opinion? or disagree?

I don't know much about the new outboards, but some snowmobiles come with great, efficient (comparitive to 4 stroke fuel consumption or better), light weight 2 strokes, maybe the same technology is in the new outboards???????? I have a 2003, Yamaha 8hp, 2 cylinder, 2 stroke, it seems to be very efficient, light, quiet, and can troll slow, also, the oil mix is 100:1, environmentally, I would guess a 4 stroke is still alot lower emissions though

buying cottage property and converting it to residential

If I were you, and really liked the place, I would just close the deal and move in. I would bet you wouldn't have any problems with permanent occupancy from the township. If it came up, and there was a problem, then mention the MLS listing etc, that's just me though -
ditto, I'm very happy with my 565 portable, I like the feature of being able to turn off the fish ID so you don't see silly fish cartoons all the time, the only down side, mine has a rechargable battery (that's a good thing) but it doesn't last for a full week if on a trip without hydro, I'm going to buy another battery for this season (I think about $40)so I'll have 2

never been to Mikwam, but from fly in fishing experience, I don't take much tackle twister tail jigs (yellow, white, green), stick baits (husky jerk, walley diver) and spoons (don't leave out the spoons, great for pike and you'd be surprised how many walleye will hit the spoon)

Solopaddler is great for info on this stuff (I suspect he has won Lotto Max and just fishes 24/7 everywhere) I've been to Kesagami, there's an outpost on Partridge Lk and you can portage to a boat cache on Kesagami (alot cheaper than Kes. Lodge if you don't mind the portage), still a little over your budget, the old owner was Ron Baron (Gardiner Air), he had health trouble and sold to someone else (don't know the new outfit but guys on this board would) Kesagami was great, we liked having our own cabin on Partridge (although Ron was finicky to say the least), we caught big pike to 18lbs, great walleye to 6.5lbs but we had perfect weather, hot, humid and most days Kesagami was without a ripple (no wind), if it is windy Kesagami blows up easily, huge waves, turbid water after (we've talked to other groups that could only fish the big lake for a couple days because of wind/ waves), we got really lucky once, it was awesome, but we won't go back because we don't want to gamble again Kesagami Lodge has some protection if it's windy, you can duck into Newnham Bay for shelter

Our Spot cost $150 to buy, and $100 per year for service. I split it with my Dad and brother. Whoever is doing something in a remote area takes Spot, saves us money

I was on a canoe trip, 2 people, 1 canoe and we lost the canoe in some nasty rapids. We were on our way to James Bay, no logging roads and impossible to walk out. I hit the help button (not the 911 button) on spot at 6:30 pm and the Hearst Fire Helicopter was there to pick us up at 9:30 am the next day. The help call went to my family back home and they organized the fly out. The only problem with spot is that the messages are limited. Ok, help or 911. When I hit the help message, I knew my family would freak out, I would send 1 help, 1 ok, 1help, 1 ok etc., so hopefully they would figure out we were ok but needed help, and since the message was from beside a nasty rapid, they would figure out we dumped and lost the canoe. Spot is a great product. I bet there will be better ones coming out later but who knows when.

Hey. Moore Lake has bass and lakers. I'm pretty sure the laker fishing is tough because I only see one or no huts out there anymore, and haven't heard much about guys fishing it. I think it's a natural reproducing lake so the Minden MNR won't stock it, but I'm guessing the natural fish are few and far between. The bass fishing is likely what you would expect for a busy cottage country lake. Some smallies around the hwy 35 bridge in the moving water, some large mouth in green gables. Some stocked rainbows at Elliot Falls. You can also boat into Black Lk in a small boat under hwy 35. let us know how you do

going to bisco, could use some help

awesome, thanks guys, and solopaddler, you should write a book "Northern Ont. Fishing Guide, new revised edition" seems like you've been everywhere -
I'm not an expert, but it seems to get dicey around the shore, especially with western exposure, the exposed rocks warm up in the sun and weaken the ice, it's a great time of year to ice fish though, weather wise

I've seen this done Ron Baron's Partridge Lake/ Kesagami camp had a few "beds of nails" that would be strategically laid out when the camp was vacant, Ron wasn't one to take any chances, also saw something similar at a camp in the Chapleau Game preserve (aka bear city)

it looks like Grey Owl Camp is our destination this year. i don't know much about it, I have travelled down it on the way to Ramsey Lk, I searched it on some other websites and found quite a few Americans slandering it (some posts were pretty old though), also found some good reviews, the evening before we went to Ramsey I did catch a 2lbs walleye from shore if anyones familar with Lk Bisco I'd appreciate some info, also, can you portage into Indian Lk? if so, is it worth it? thanks

I know how to access them, open water or ice it's the same, never fished either, if I had to guess from experience in the area, the value of the trip would from the journey and the remoteness, a few fish would be a bonus

Hi All Our group does a yearly fly in trip. We like to hit a new lake/ river every year. We've done plenty of research online and think we know of all outfitters from Sudbury to Nakina. We've tried to investigate northern Quebec but haven't found too much. There's alot of lakes and rivers up there, there should be some outpost camps too. We've found Caesars and Melacon, anybody know of any others that would be worth checking out? thanks in advance

the file was larger than the space available, how do I reduce it?

While working for the DFO, we electrofished a carp that bottomed out a 50 lbs scale, in Hamilton Harbour near Lasalle Park, probably 1994- ish, I can dig out the picture and post it if people are interested
