  5. Thanks Kev..... no did not get new blades for my auger but managed to brake one of the studs that holds the blades Luckily my ice spoon has a chisle at the end of the handle and was able to break the 3" of ice out of an old hole.... only use my jigging rod today..... travelled light
  6. Great report and pics Kev WOW.... some nice looking bronze back and nice gators Congratulations Sorry I could not join you guys today.... my aunt passed away christmas eve and today was the funeral I did manage to go to lac Leamy for an hour and half and try for something.... while jigging, caught two small perch on a swedish pimple The wind was so brutal this afternoon that 1 hour 1/2 was all I could take By the time I got to the car, I couldn't feel my hands anymore Again good job you guys and thanks for sharing Jacques

  8. WOW.... great report and pics aniceguy That's a lot of nice steels congratulations Beautiful bass too Thanks for sharing Leechman
  9. To me, once the fish head is in the hole and your pulling on the line, don't see that fish going back down if it's a big fish. So why add this? I can see it being usefull for smaller fish that can make a u turn but not the big ones. Just my 2 cents
  10. Great report and pic icefisherman Looks like you guys put a beating on them... WTG Thanks for sharing Leechman

  17. UF you don't need to purchase a QC license to fish on the Ottawa in zone 25 which is the area that you are going. Here is a link to the MNR QC regs about that: http://www.mrnf.gouv.qc.ca/english/publica...n-residents.asp Like Holdfast mention, there is a wide variete of species of fish that you will be able to fish for.... here is the fishing periods and catch limit http://www.mrnf.gouv.qc.ca/english/publica...nes/zone-25.asp The closest towns on this side of the border that I know is Waltam and Fort Coulonge. Never been past Waltam and never had to opportunity to go fishing down there.... your uncles cottage is about 2.5 hours drive from where I live and from looking at the pics, the view of the river looks suberbe. If you are planning on hitting some of the local lakes then you will be required to buy a QC license. You are allowed live bait in the O river. I'm sure that your uncle knows the hot spots in the area and he will be in a better position to point you in the right direction. Hope this helps Jacques aka Leechman
  18. Great report and pics Wayne Some real nice looking whities you guys got into Congratulations Just can't trust dealership mechanics now a days eh Glad you guys made it back safely and thanks for sharing Jacques
  19. Rich forgot to say that I bought them at Walmart and that the juice in the jar does not smell as bad as in the big bucket you can also get the power maggots and rigged them onto the tear drop jigs like those below in the top right hand corner: Jacques
  20. Yes Paul.... just bought one today
  21. Great report and pic Gavin You certainly work hard to get there and got rewarded with your very first laker.... congratulations I've never caught a laker before on hard water simply because in QC, lakers are OOS but some outfitters are open for speckle.... not many and it's expensive.... that's why I fish for eyes and pike mainly Again good job and thanks for sharing Jacques
  22. Rich, I bought the Berkley product "Gulp Alive fish fry" with the little jig heads for pan fish and to me seemed to be the right combo to get the pan fish to strike..... I haven't tried them yet but will certainly cut them in halves and give it a go Another product you may want to try in combination with the fry is the Berkley power paste, in yellow or pink.... it's for trout mainly but dip your jig head hook into the paste, cover it good and don't know why it wouldn't get results. Hope this helps.... Jacques
  23. Great report and pics Bruce You did a lot better then me..... could not get out yesterday.... had to visit my parents and in-laws. Got back around 7:00pm Good job and thanks for sharing Jacques
  24. Great report and video tph Give ya 11 out of 10 on this one Super job.... keep them coming Leechman
  25. I've just switched to Power Pro Phantom Red this summer from mono Stren and can't be any happier with it...... except what UB said about the color fading.... real good strong line and a hell to get out of a snag.... don't need to change it often like mono Used to buy a lot of mono refills but not anymore Like every 3 or 4 outings would respool my reels Leechman
