  1. i just just the clinch knot for all the knots (main line, leader, hook). i've never used the egg loop knot..i usually use mesh to tie up the skein. its less messy this way when you have a full day of fishing
  2. 401 would be the best bet. when you are coming home, traffic doesnt start on 401 until the bowmanville area to ajax...when the express lanes begins, no traffic at all
  3. I've fished the Grand all summer last year, you MUST do the leg work.. the dam at Caledonia is full of smallies, walleye, cats, and carps.. another good access point is York, lots of fish held below the rapids
  4. when i did a camping trip a few years ago i kept the beers in the lake water, it worked great.
  5. great stuff Victor! you definitely gotta take me out one time when you go night fishing for carp, and i'll bring my walleye gears =P
  6. check out travelzoo, their website has promotions every now and then. sometimes they have really good deals for 1-2 night stays.
  7. the thunders are coming in now.
  8. I've always wanted to pick up a bucket but i just cant find myself spending $20 on them.... but i might really want to try the 5" leeches since the live ones are like $6/dozen
  9. just got off work.. will be heading to the kawartha's soon searching for walleyes for steelheaders, we fish in the rain/snow/sun....a little rain won't hurt
  10. great stuff Victor! you have to take me out one day for some carpin' action
  11. when i do summer fishing for bass, walleye, pike...i usually tie about 5-6 feet of fluoro to my line. i simply tie a triple over hand knot to connect them together, and it hasn't failed yet..very strong knot.
  12. my go to bait for largies would be senkos. then its a tie between spinnerbaits and crankbaits
  13. 6" YamaSenko white grub with 1/4oz white/pink jighead pumpkinseed 3.5" tubes white/red spinnerbait shad raps
  14. After reading BBNotty's report last night... I knew I had to get out once more before the float gears are put away... I'll keep the report short cause im too lazy/tired to type anything extra. Haven't fished a chilly morning for a while...my fingers were quite numb for the first half hour or so until I hooked into the first fish . My buddy went 2/3 and I went 5/8 this morning..which is quite incredible since its already mid May! All fish were found in 4-5ft deep holes, I guess they were absorbing the heat from the sun. My buddy and I both lost several good size (pushing 12lbs) fish into logjams. The ones we landed were ranged from 3-5lbs, nothing crazy. here are a few pictures.. Hey MJL, so WHEN are we going to go for a drift?! or your too busy fishing for carp.

  18. great looking browns!!lots of those guys around in the spring,hahaha... heres a tip, when you know you'll be catching a school of small fish like these..just pinch the barbs on the hooks, it'll be way easier to unhook them and does no damage to them.
