  1. oh man the teaser pic!!! im gonna head up north in about 3hrs for some fall steelheads too.
  2. i get them too sometimes on my leader line. and i wonder how on earth that happens. thanks for the info guys!
  3. I have a wedding to go to tonight. was planning to fish the morning then jet home to get ready for the party. but crap came up, im stuck at work till 3. i hate it when a trip is all planned out then things happen last minute
  4. so i just ordered the sheffied and guide select 13'6 off centerpinangling.com lets hope i will like this combo thanks for all the help/suggestions guys!
  5. thanks for all the help guys. i went and did some shopping today after class. tightline is currently selling the raven im8 14' for $199 another local tackle shop has the streamside 13' for $96 i believe my main concern is finding a rod with enough backbone. I've tried the convergence 12'6 and it was flimsy as hell. my buddy told me choosing a rod is 100 times more difficult than finding a reel..hes so right
  6. im using the Bare 3.5mm neoprene and it was only like $140 check out lebaron, they carry quite a few bare waders
  7. I started river fishing this year, and only started salmon/trout fishing maybe 2-3 weeks ago, and loving it! im currently using a 10' convergence and a 2500 series spinning reel as my main gears. i would like to pick up a centerpin asap so i'll be ready for this winter. 95% chance im going to pick up the okuma sheffield, but the raven sst2 is also very tempting.. but my main concern is the rod selection. I've looked into the raven im9 13'6 and a few other float rods...still can't decide. my budget is approx $500 (early xmas present for myself). so that leaves about $200-250 to buy a rod. i know there are many float fishermen on this board, please give the noob some advice..lol
  8. I've also been using my 10' convergence this year catching salmon, no problem with it. the only down side would be the weight, but it has enough backbone to fight with a fresh run salmon. btw, nice male salmon!! it looked way better than the beat up salmon i caught on sunday.
  9. they aren't opened 24/7 anymore since the last time i checked (2-3 weeks ago). im not too sure about weekends though.
  10. I was also at le baron tonight around 8. all the rods left at the clearance rack were shakespeare. +1 on the doing the shopping at le baron, its way cheaper. i think they sell the powerpro 150yd for like $16, but BPS would sell them for $22.
  11. got skunked tonight. only a couple rock bass and that was it. there were also 3 other people fishing and no one seem to get any bites tonight.
  12. Just checked the weather for tonight at the peterborough region. Frost warning! danggggg it!!!!!! now debating if its still worth driving the 1 hr for some evening/night fishing.
  13. for grand river, I've been to the Caledonia dam and York. Have had success at both places, but you have to wade out to the river.
  14. im also planning to do some overnight fishing at balsam tomorrow. but the weather doesn't look too good =/ i wonder if its able to catch muskies at waterdams.
  15. the picture looks like you were at the York area. thats a great place to fish, but the current is strong as hell. great smallie pic!
  16. possibly heading up to the grand on monday.
  17. HOLY CRAP!!! last night at around 4am when i was about to sleep..i head this REALLY loud bang..and my windows shoke...i thought it was just a really loud thunder or something...then car alarms went off, fire trucks sirens went crazy... i live maybe about 5 min drive from the explosion...
  18. got to the launch (water street) at about 9:30pm. already a few guys fishing by the caseway...so i just fished near the park with a 3" minnow with jig head. caught a few baby LMB and a decent size crappie. then drove to caesarea to try it out...as i got there, an old guy was leaving...it was really windy tonight at the dock. so i just did a few casts trying to cover all the areas possible. only caught a sunfish!! no one seemed to catch anything decent tonight..maybe it was the rain and the thunderstorms that scared the fishies away tonight =[ i for sure wont be going back to scugog again, unless its fishing on a boat.
  19. im going to try some night shore fishing at scugog tonight. thanks for all the information guys. im going to try the public launch area, then possibly drive over to Caesarea. btw, i checked google map for Caesarea and i dont quite see a place where i can fish..i only found a harbour/dock kinda thing..is that where everyone fishes?
  20. damn i just checked the weather and its going to be raining until the evening. and im going in the evening time. don't know if i should cancel the trip or still go and hope for some cold front luck
  21. Hey I have just discovered this board a few days ago. before this i usually visit fish-hawk.net. but i find this place way more live than FH. so im planning to do some shore fishing tuesday evening, possibly from 9pm-1am or so. i don't really know much shore fishing areas. since i live around richmondhill area. i've only been to canal lake near bolsover, and coboconk (they arent that far away) can anyone recommend me some shore fishing spots for that night?
