Hi, Hoping someone can help me out here. We've got some extended family coming from England for a couple weeks in August and they've exressed interest in doing a cottage rental for 3 or 4 days. We've beeen hunting around a lot on-line but just haven't found exactly what we're looking for, here's the criteria; sleeps 12 2 bathrooms (or more) swimming for young children max. $2500 within 2.5 hours of GTA bonuses; boat launch nearby dock for small boat good fishing Most places price by the week which is fine as long as it is within $2500. Thanks.

No cost for parking/launching at Mowat's Landing.

I'm going to hazard a guess you left out the last sentence during the actual conversation with your wife.....
-
No problem. Put up a post or PM me when you're going up and I'll see if I can find out some more details, like when the guy is operating.
-
My buddies parents own White Pine Lodge (located on the Montreal River before you go up and over the dam) and he tells me the guy who operates the tractor is independent of the lodges and yes he will bring you in.....$10 round trip I think but don't quote me.

Congratulations to you on the birth of your son! Nice fish as well.

Lee Valley is another option. http://www.leevalley.com/en/gifts/page.aspx?p=50246&cat=4,104,53209,50246.

Saw a sign near home @ 427 and QEW (south Etobicoke) that another one is opening there as well.

I've had these, http://www.leevalley.com/en/garden/page.aspx?p=40911&cat=2,51676,40911, for a number of years and find them to be excellent. You can even get a a restuddig kit.

Using breathable rain pants for snow pants
SylvanOwner replied to kickingfrog's topic in General Discussion
I wear a pair of breathable bibs for snowboarding, the same pair I wear in the summer when camping/canoeing if raining. Like has been said just wear the appropiate layers underneath. Pair of jogging pants under the bibs when boarding, same pair of jogging pants under my survival suit when ice fishing. -
Do I need to apply anything to new boat floor?
SylvanOwner replied to 10point's topic in General Discussion
I did similar to a previous poster. Couple coats of marine epoxy and the guys at Noah's said my floor would outlast me. -
Take a look at the Bob Izumi HT light/medium rods they have at LeBaron's. Cost is $17.27 and in my opinion are better than the spring tip. Same sort of concept in the sense that there is a very sensitive tip but I feel these have much better performance. The last 3 or 4 inches of the rod is super light and sensitive and then it very quickly tapers to a strong backbone, just terrific.

I'm a goin Crappie Huntin T'is Weekend. What you use for'em?
SylvanOwner replied to Harrison's topic in General Discussion
Northland Forage Minnow with Power Maggot (1, 2 or 3). I generally hook the maggots so they have a bit of a curl to them when they're on the hook so they look more lifelike. Have caught many many crappie this way and often find it's all I can catch them on. good luck -
Grand River Troutfitters Moving Sale.
SylvanOwner replied to DRIFTER_016's topic in General Discussion
Anyone know what their selection of bowhunting stuff is like? Have they moved some of this stuff to the new store or are they dropping this part of the shop altogether? -
For me it was my 40th birthday. I think you have to be ready and have to figure out a technique/pattern/schedule that you can live with. Everyone is different but this is something that everyone can do. Just put your mind to it.

Hey Mike, that seems pricey even for these pedals. LeBaron's is the cheapest I've found, just checked the cataloque and it's saying $99 but I thought I'd paid even less than that for my old 765mxt. Anyway, hope this saves ya' a couple bucks at least. Dan

Congratulations!! Almost 3 1/2 months for me and never looking back. Keep it up all you quitters!!

I use an electric drive and have been through a number of fairly expensive pedals over the years but I really believe Roy has hit the nail on the head here, this is absolutely what I would do if/when I have to replace my current setup.

Sorry to hear about your pet. So...are you getting a replica done?
-
nice pics Mike, looks like you guys were able to turn that slow start to the season into some serious success....congrats. Hope the elbow heals up fast and you know there's a standing invite to come out and play Monday's. We've got a bunch of new guys out and things have kicked up a notch or 2. Dan

NF Home Energy Audit and Attic Insulation
SylvanOwner replied to moemoe's topic in General Discussion
Sorry about the tardy follow-up on this but I did say I would provide the name of the individual who did my Energy Audit so here it is; Pat Thompson from Carson Dunlop and Associates 289-259-8662. Dan -
NF Home Energy Audit and Attic Insulation
SylvanOwner replied to moemoe's topic in General Discussion
I've done the energy audit at my home as well and highly recommend it. It is possible to actually MAKE money after having some things done and attic insulation is one of the better paybacks but you do have to do it yourself to maximize return. Home Depot waives the rental cost of the machine if you buy 10 or more bags, as mentioned. It can be a very easy job to do depending on what (if any) prep work has to be done. I highly suggest taking the time to add the vents. Anyway, back to the original question, the company I used was Carson Dunlop & Associates. I don't have the name of the lady who did the assessment but she was excellent and I'll see if I can find the name over the weekend. I live in south Etobicoke and think she came from Burlington so you'd likely be able to get her out to Hamilton. To be honest the person who does the assessment doesn't matter much as they have to document and photograph everything that you physically change or for the leak/blower test it just goes into a computer black box software that can't be manipulated. Kind of like Drive Clean....but it's actually useful I think Dana is right in that it's only the feds who are offering the rebates now and also the cost of the audits has gone up since I did mine so making money probably not realistic but this is a really great way to get the gov't to help pay for things that benefit you and the environment in the long run. Good luck. -
GREAT post!!

Can't help you with actually viewing the show but I can tell you that I did watch it and didn't think it was as good as some of the other documentaries on DOC ZONE. It was all about the practical and business issues with producing a travelling show of that nature and caliber. Very little about the performances themselves. If you'r ea logistics kind of a guy - great, if not it's still ok but not really what I was expecting.

trolling cranks from a canoe. Ideas please
SylvanOwner replied to Rod Caster's topic in General Discussion
I'll second the idea of using a clamp-on rod holder. The "Salty" is my preferred choice. I like the insurance of the double clamp and these things are bullet-proof.....http://www.down-east.com/clamp-on.htm. As someone else already mentioned the slight changes in speed when paddling WILL trigger hits to the point where we have implemented a "pause" when employing this technique. Basically one of the paddlers just says "pause" when they get a vibe that a fish is following or they need a drink and we'll coast for 15-20ft. before resuming paddling, that is if we need to, you'd be surprised how many fish are caught on the "pause"..... Good luck!!
