  5. Well the game plan was supposed to be canoeing the back lakes for Brookies. But having just gotten of night shift I opted for a slower pace. Decided to cover ground and drive to some back road/4x4 trail spots that I have fished in the past. I was a little nervous about going to deep down some of the trails without a buddy incase we needed to pull one and other out of mud or up inclines ect..(my truck is the one pulling most times LOL..) I managed to find this years beaver dam on one of the creeks or trickles I fish and the brookies were also there. Caught loads of the 7"-9" fish and even lost some that had to be close to 16" in the wood (I know!!! another fish story LOL....) but losing a few big boys is what keeps ya coming back I guess? Great day to be out, even keep a few for a feed and they tasted great!!! And as stated before, yes the black flies are hatching. Break out the spray. Rf
  6. Nope no problem with access at all!!! as it is a passable water way. Did see a few property owners and asked before we fished (even from the canoe) and all did not mind and some even offered tips LOL.. RF

  9. Thanks for the comments floating the river really gets you into some spots that show no signs of fishing pressure making for easy pickings. I shall try and post some pics from a brookie trip next week if we catch em Tight lines, RF

  12. Loaded up the truck and headed North to meet a buddie for a canoe trip down a G-bay trib,. Parked one truck on the side of the road at our planned take out and headed another 25 km upstream to launch. Once all the gear was onboard we were ready to tackle 25km of prime water. Not even 200 yrds down stream and we are into a great pool that holds a lot of drop backs. A few fish and its time to continue down stream. Next bend in the river, yet another great hole to pull fish out of.... and this continued for the next 5 km until we finally had to keep paddling by great looking spots if we were to be at the takeout at dark and not next week LOL... Fished tons of wood jams and deep holes, In one of the pools we were elevated on the bank about 6' giving us a birds eye view of steelhead racing each other to score our baits. Had never seen such a thing in 20 yrs on the river. These drop backs were hungry!!!! and on the feed. Water was gin clear enabling us to literally see the fish move out from their cover(wood, rocks ect..) and smash the offered bait. Not for anyone with a heart condition LOL... Even managed a few on my new 7' ultralight that I was dying to break in, what a blast. Thank god for the Stradics drag system Still a few weeks left hopefully and than its on to the back lakes for the brookies All in all a super float down the river with lots of fish, and great weather. Tight lines , RF
  13. Ghost minnow Jerk baits , SM just kill em. RF
  14. Pulled myself away from the rivers to try targeting these monster cats that some fellow BPS staff got into last week. Hit Fishmasters marina and he was more than helpful in telling me were to fish and sharing some info, Thanks for that. Our group did alright with some monster carp, good drum and a gauntlet of cats from 1/4 lb to my 17lb cat. Never targeted them before but will make a point to try it again next year. Many dew worms threaded on the hook was the ticket, hope ya got a backyard full of them cause it can get expensive LOL... Tight lines RF
