  1. Day in and out...not a chance, thats a good day, and I'm happy with that when I get there LOL! My Dads groupings are usually 2-3"...maybe I measure myself to to high a standard But then again our range may not be 100 yards "exactly"...maybe I'm a horrible estimator and it's 70 LOL!!! (its a hunt camp....and it looks to be 100 yards give or take) One thing for sure...sighting in sabots tend to leave a bruise
  2. In the Hunter Safety course the reccomendation from my instructor as an effective range for a Sabot Slug through my 870 Supermag was "not more then 150 yards." Thats not by anymeans my recommendation....its just what I was told when I asked. I personally don't think I'd squeeze the trigger if I had more then 100 yards between me and my Deer... My grouping tends to be about 4" at that range (which I am aware is poor... ) I use Buck shot when driving for the obvious and Sabbot on the stand. But my in the ravine 30/06 is prefered for the longer shot.
  3. Put another down for the 870... I have and 870 supermag and not a single issue, jam, misfire are what ever. Probobly not the "best" gun out there but it works well, and is not a bank buster either. As far as an "all around Shot gun"...it fits that critera well. Seems to be pretty popular, so thats gotta say somthing....just say'n
  4. Bout time... I was not a fan of Wilson behind the Leaf bench at any point. He's a great coach when his bench is full of experience....but he simply belittles and crushes his kids. And LOVED to pass the buck. Good ridence IMO... But to late for the leafs IMO as well....they have a TOUGH March schedule.
  5. To funny... If you guys are SOOOO smart, why are you guys not making it rich on pro Line???? We'll see who's in and who is out shortly.... With 9 points seperating 4th place from 10th I'd say niether team is safe, nor deserving of such staunch defence. Trade or no trade the Leafs and the Sens had both better toughen up and focus. If I were Burke or Wilson I'd be more interested in sheltering the guys from "hearing" the trade rumors then actually dealing... Last thing they need is pregame jitters...
  6. Awesome! Just a good old fashion feel good story.
  7. So sorry to hear of this, There is little I can offer outside of my condolences and prayer.
  8. Depending on the quality of the unit and how much aleration of ductwork, plenum, and electrical, refrigeration lines, and drainage is needed I wouldn't pay more then $3200 just say'n cause the unit shouldn't be more then $1300 so the rest is going to be labour to move the lines, and fabricate the ductwork etc... I'm by no means an expert, but I've done this twice over. Get four quotes and good luck
  9. LOL....if thats the case I sure hope they don't come by my place I got permits for my deck, basement, and Firemplace install...not in that order, but none the less. If I needed one for the Sideing and roofing they can come kiss my Surprised I don't need a permit to get a permit these days. But in all seriousness I could't find any documentation requireing a permit to reshingle a roof or lay siding? Here's an a clip from the Waterloo region building office: The Building Code states that a building permit is not required for a "detached accessory" structure measuring 10 m2 (107 square feet) in area or less. (Keep in mind that although you might not need a building permit for your renovation project, you still must comply with zoning by-law and building code requirements.) Here are some types of Examples that DO require building permits in the City of Waterloo: Construction of any new building or structure on your property Demolition of a building or structure on your property excavating or constructing a foundation renovation or converting an existing building (change of use and occupancy) additions attached or detached garages installation or changes to plumbing material alterations, additions or repairs to a building decks (greater than 2 ft above grade) pools hot tubs sunrooms porches sheds (greater then 108 ft.sq) carports dormers new or structural alterations to windows and doors adding or removing most walls new fireplaces basement or main floor walkouts backflow prevention device The following examples DO NOT require building permits in the City of Waterloo: a detached shed that is 10’ x 10’ or less, a fence (ie. chain link, wood, wrought iron), removing the kitchen cupboards and replacing with new cupboards, installing new shingles on existing roof, replacing a fixture (ie. toilet, bathtub or sink) with a new fixture Nothing about Sideing???.....Shingles are cool, but You'd need to call about the sideing I guess
  10. I see you added this as I was typing LOL! That Actualy may make your new unit more expensive... You will need a unit that fits your current coils, or have to replace the coils(depending on the age and condition) And it may effect the pricing on a rebuild of a plenum to fit the new unit. Until your estimator see's it its all in the air so as Lew said I'd get 4 quotes and go from there but if your asking me... How many BTU's are you looking for?
  11. Much more info needed to even give a ball park on that... How many sq feet is your home? (The amount of space needed to heat will determin the size of unit required.) Also do you currently have A/C or not (makes a big difference when it comes to the plenum etc.) Do you want humidity control? What kind of control wires are being run (how many wires) Other things to consider...to get the Eco credit you will need a High effeciency I'd imagine (more $$$$) As for removal of the oil tank...I have no idea, but it ain't cheap.
  12. You do not need a permit to "repair"...only to build new, or add additional sq footage, electical etc. If your staying with in the origional footprint of the build and merely replacing the roof & siding there is no permit required... When is the last time you got a permit to re-do your roof or siding on your home?
  13. Jealous down here for sure.... These reports of your are bitter sweet for sure...loving the posts and gearing up for my chance, but also getting anxious and moody LOL!!!
  14. Yup me to...on occasion, randomly. No real reason I can pinpoint.
  15. My boat ain't pretty, but it is a 1967 starcraft Falcon...just repaired 3 rivets this year for the fist time. I'd call 45 years of functionality a pretty good track record I suppose
  16. Its a toss up for me as well.... He's got the second best +/- on the team and has the best +/- of all the D-men. And he's only missed one game but out of 8 d-men on the roster he gets the 7 most play time...in other words Wilson short shifts him.(average 16.35 minutes/game) I'd call him an "average" d-man So realistically keep him, trade him....meh?
  17. LOL...Can't believe this ones still going Kind of round and round though eh? Save 'em, thin 'em, get rid of 'em....those are both our options and opinions ina nut shell it seems. Lots of good talk and surprisingly not “much” flaming…we should all be proud , these things usually get locked down fairly quick because a few can’t play nice. (I know, I know…I’m not always an angel either ) The only intelligent point that I've been waiting to hear that has not been presented yet is a simple answer to the age old question "what harm would we expect to see from opening a cormorant hunt" If there is an intelligent point out there, I'm all ears...I have an open mind most days so lets hear it. We've already established the “do you eat them” question is a bit moot on 2 angles. Angle 1- There are MANY species open to hunting/trapping which we don‘t traditionally eat.... Both native & invasive species alike are currently hunted legally in Ontario purely for sporting fun. Really anyone expecting the birds unpleasant flavour to be some sort of valid reason for being granted sanctuary….your jest has been answered as irrelvant by a LONG standing precedent. Angle 2- Who cares? If I wants to blast the bird for fun does that make me a crazy cold hearted Red neck jerk.... Before you label me you should ask your self if you ever fished with live bait. We're not so different you an I....unless you can somehow rationalize The worth of one creatures life over another.... well...now who's crazy?
  18. Personally I think it would have an effect...just my oppinion, but it comes as a rsult of personal experience. I've seen dramtic results in 2 area's I fish since the culls, one being Quinte, one being Algonquin park....of course thats only a personal oppinion but sometimes seeing is believing they say. And I'd rather see us trying to thin the population and fail as opposed to waiting and doing nothing. There really is no harm in trying...worst case scenario puts us back at the drawing board and the MNR gains a new perspective. It seems like a win/win situation to me.
  19. I agree with you 110%...where is the harm? This is a non native species to Southern Ontario that has no known positive contributions to the fishery or the "foreign" ecosystems it is spreading to, it "could" be harmfull to our fishery, and IS harmfull to shoreline vegetation, trees etc... If there are people willing to hunt them why not have the MNR use the opportuntiy to make a bit of cash while getting valuable data. Seriously somebody throw me bone here... If there is a down side I'm all ears.....persuade me?
  20. Awesome to see Soft water fishing still....HARD CORE!!! And a nice Multi Species day Non the less. Thanks for sharing!
  21. Well...hear is my non expert rant LOL! Its a Bird not known to be native to southern Ontario, but its here non the less Its a bird widely suspected to be adversely effecting the fish populations. There are NO scientific studies that prove they are adversly effecting the fish population outside of any Natural occurance but their are documented studies of vegetation damage. There are also NO scientifc studies that prove a cull would be effective OR ineffective, but there are documented culls that so far....appear to have been effective in single locations(as Lew pointed out) All I know is this, This is a bird that is not native to the area whose population is quite obviously on the rise. This same bird is known to eat about one pound of fish per day sometimes less...sometimes more. So it is common sense to assume this Bird IS effecting the fishery on some level currently. In small scale culling appears to have worked with out any adverse effects. I know personally that there was a cull on Lake Opeongo Algonquin park in 2008 that did well...so far Basically put...there is even less evidence suggesting that culls are harmefull or ineffective then there is supporting a cull. There fore, In my completely unproffessional opinion we should open them up to hunters for a few years and measure the success. There is certainly no more harm in that then sitting on our behinds doing what we are right now. The ONLY "potential" negetive is if the Cull doesn't work and the population rebounds stronger.... In which case we've simply sped the proccess up and correct me if I'm wrong but the anti's in this case are suggesting we allow the population to overpopulate, and let nature takes its course(disease etc..) Either way we end up at the same out come, so why not indulge in a little sport and give her a good 'ol college try?
  22. Wow Thats a Sweet Browny! Congrats on one heck of a catch. (Jealous am I LOL!)
  23. I've been told Deer more often then not(especially when not in the rut) will sit and not move. If you don't get out there and move them....you won't find them. Our situation is we're only 4-5 guys with well over 500 acres available land to hunt....thats ALOT of guess work. We place guys in stands and drive to them hoping to kick somthing up, other times we just sit tight. When we're driving we try to narrow our runs, but many times when we do actually kick something up, it goes around us LOL... Its a pretty thick area, but lots of good natural bottle necks(via ponds and ridges) AKA a perfect area to run dogs... Dogs are just an added member of the party to push or drive so to speak. And if he's well trained, it takes a bit of the guess work out.
  24. I hunt deer...just not successfully lately LOL! My Beagle is a natual Rabbit machine...which is awesome for 80% of my hunting. But I'd like to se if he can a run deer. My Grandfather trained his with a pelt...track the pelt...get a treat...when he finds the pelt, take it further etc...old school I I Spent the better half of last year getting him to run rabbit and return via whistle, and a E collar was my back up. He responded to the training 110%...I was pleasantly surprised at how well it went. So I've encouraged his rabbit tracking, and its going very well. Now I just need to get a dam Deer pelt(not easy) to try and see if he'll pick up on it as well. to be truthfull...when he goes on a track he's ALL over it!!! The issue is 9x outta 10 it turns out to be a rabbit, or another dog he's tracking. He gets supper hyped up and runs like hell howling like a mad man on occasion...sometimes we find he's runnning a rabbit...other times it could be a deer, but I'm yet to "see" anything ran by him. Could be on deer, could be nothing....tough to say sometime there are tracks in his path, other time not. I'd feel better with some solid pelt training.
  25. Ah...Bird dogs! That makes sence thanks,
