58,000+ kids who never got to come home. and only the good lord knows how many on the other side - including civilians. not sure anything could be worth that price. I guess mankind has a history of this kind of thing. I don't like to be a pessimist but we "all can't get along" can we ?

58,000 names - hard to get your head around that ! RIP

nice looking fish - where abouts ?

Makes you wonder whether there's any validity to the arguments put forth by the opponents of the spring bear hunt cancellation ?

I enjoy drop shoting with live bait for perch - great system !!

Ya - I saw that - but wasn 't excited about the $45 price tag !! ( I know - I have a lot invested in my trolling motor - but I can buy a lot of in line fuses for that money )

Same thing happened to me this spring. Put the boat away last fall - all was well. Took it out this spring to make sure everything survived the winter okay and started blowing fuses when i turned on the bilge. Took the unit out an turns out it was seized up for some reason. Nothing stuck anywhere - it was just frozen. With that said you may be right - it could have sucked something up. If this was the case as fisherman said most units you can disconnect the unit from the housing that encases the pump. That housing is usually attached in some way to the hull of your boat. If you can get it apart you can check to see if the impeller turns easily or not - and try turning it on. If it spins freely and/or comes on okay when just by taking it out of the housing may have dislodged the obstruction. Replacing them can be a bit of a challenge depending on the type and how much access you have to it. Some just have a replaceable cartridge - i.e. you twist the top and take out the "guts" - get another insert and away you go. Try and find out what unit you have and go from there (google it )

not meaning to pirate this post - but I've got an in-line fuse like this for my trolling motor - I'm supposed to be using a 50-60 amp fuse - but can't find any that size at CTC - do I have to go to UAP or someplace like that ?

My boat trailer spends a lot of time out doors during the summer with my boat on it, parked in my driveway. I'd like to make sure my trailer tires last as long as possible (installed a new pair of radial tires last year) but I can't figure out an economical way to keep them covered and outta the sun. I'd love to park it in the garage but it won't fit. Any ideas from some of you industrious, frugal thinkers out there would be helpful. Thanks.

T-bone, My gang has been looking for new places to try as well - any particular lakes in Quebec you wish to name ?

I agree 100% rattletrap - but I think they try to make you go thru the rest of the routine with the expectation that if something comes up somewhere in the back of your mind you'll remember something they taught you to help deal with the issue. with that said - as you've pointed out the important thing is call for help and start pumping !!

great advise - and remember - doing anything is always better than doing nothing.

I haven't got any pictures (boy some of these creations sure look great !) but someone on this board suggested the fish batter at the bulk food store. We've tried it several times (use beer instead of water) and we ver y much like it. Not too over-powering but adds a nice touch to the natural taste of the fish !

Hats off to Dave for participating in an event like that !! And if he keeps on loosing weight at this pace we better all hurry to see him - there won't be much left of him soon ! An inspiration to us all ! Thanks for sharing.

So today I'm replacing my bilge pump and while doing that I knock my transducer by accident with my knee... and you guessed it - busted the darn thing. Not a happy camper. The arm/elbow that holds the transducer body to the bracket cracked in two. It's a plastic arm that just snapped. Transducer body is fine. So now I'm trying to figure out how to fix it without replacing the darn thing. I was hoping to glue the two pieces back together Any suggestions ? I'm thinking some crazy glue or contact cement, but I'm hoping someone else out there has experienced the same thing and can provide me with the benefit of their experience.

Sounds like the ctc line isn't worth the bother. I'll be looking for mayfair or rule ! thx.

So I'm getting my boat out of moth balls and making sure things are working as they should be. Motor starts and most other things are working okay. I try and make sure everything's drained when I put my boat away in the fall and I usually put some plumbing anti freeze in the live-well lines etc. So today I find out my bilge pump is completely seized - won't turn at all. This bloody thing is only two years old and is a royal pain in the touche to get at. While getting at it I bust the live-wll pump. So now I need a couple of these things. The last ones I bought came from my local CTC store - their "Sea-sense" line. My question - is there something I should do to these things at the end of the season to increase their longevity ? Is there a particular model that may be better than the others ? And finally - is there something I should treat the connections with to make them easier to get apart next time ? I know there's some folks out there with experience with this kinda thing - and I'd appreciate the benefit of your experience. Thx.

This I just found funny to read - “conservation-minded” spear harvesters try to focus on males.
