  1. That sure looks like a beautiful spot. I'm another one of the "dreamers" on this board that would certainly have something like this at the top of the list if the loto numbers ever went my way. Without telling too many tales out of school, what would a typical property (fixer upper) like this fetch on the market? Again, I,m not trying to be nosey, I'm just not familiar with property values of this type. Thanks and pass along congratulations.
  2. I just got finished cleaning a couple of dozen perch after a decent day on the ice. For me there aren't many things I can think of that are more tedious than cleaning panfish ! I hate ruining/wasting decent fish. I try to fillet them similar to any other fish, ie slice the fillet cutting through the rib cage down to the tail, peel it back, take the skin off, then cut out the rib cage. I use a small, sharp filleting knife and while most turn out fine, sometimes the knife has a mind of its own and the fillet ends up looking like hamburger. Is there an easier, more efficient way to get this job done ? Thank goodness they taste as good as they do - almost makes it worth the trouble ! Thanks.
  3. I'm planning on purchasing a new rod this spring and I was hoping I could get a few opinions on the subject from some of the members who have experience with one peice rods. I have a one peice bait casting outfit that I really like. The only problem I have is that it's a pain in the butt to pack and travel with. For those of you who prefer the one peice - how do you manage travelling with them ? Thanks very much for the insite. Rob V
  4. Can anyone report how well it works ? I've got a strikemaster lazer and really like it, but it's a 7 inch and when the ice gets thick and you're on your 15th hole the 'ole arms really start to sting. I,m thinking for panfish/perch 6" or less might be a bit easier on the system.

    Dokis

Hey thanks a bunch for the info !! Greatly appreciated. I'm told its about a 20 minute +/- boat ride (15 foot tinny going 15-20 miles an hour) down the river to the lake. Does that sound correct ? thanks again.

    Dokis

I'm in the early stages of trying to plan my fall trip to Nippissing /French next fall. Rather than roll the dice on being able to cross the lake InOctober from Sturgeon falls to fish the upper French River area, I,ve been told that there are a couple of marinas/lodges in Dokis that rent cabins/cottages/boats. That way we could run down the river from there. If anyone has any info that they'd like to pass along - i.e. names etc, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.
  7. My first attempt on the new board. Board looks good.
