  1. No you were wrong about the first one. I used to live in Winnipeg; goldeneyes have a much shorter snout. I may be wrong though. It could be a goldeneye. I think you got the other 2 right though.
  2. LOL. Not a mfg defect. A gimmick perhaps.
  3. Recently I have noticed that some rod manufacturers have put the nearest guide to the reel on backward. Can anyone tell me why? There is a good example of what I am talking about shown in the November 2008 issue of BASS MASTER magazine. Page 8 and 9 show Aaron Martens with what I believe is a megabass 6'10" drop shot rod with this guide on backward. It is probably no big deal, but it has been bothering me for a while.
  4. Yeah good show. Those were also some big bass. Stillusing the quantum reels though. How do you like the new Ardent reels Mark? Sorry for the hijack.
  5. Very good show. Very cool fish. I really enjoy your report card format of the show. My favourite is the beginning of the show when you are making that first cast aftern ensuring that everything is just perfect. Bam! Birdsnest!. lol. I can so relate to that. Just one question about the show and the editing. When you are about to set hook on that big gar (the one that you lose), You show the line being run off of a calcutta. When you are fighting the fish you have a more saltwater style reel. What gives? (I may have to re-watch that because it is possible that I am wrong) Keep up the good work. Can't wait until the next episode. Also congrats at all the face time in the BPS northern catalogue. Good to see you and Deforge in there as much you are. Cool to see Pete in there a bunch as well.
  6. His wife needs a bigger role on the show.
  7. Well in Barrie they had them on display already and I bought 4 of them. They had 40 to start with and when I bought my 4 there were 33 left so now I guess there are at most 29 in the Barrie store. Again, they seem alright but a bit small. I filled them up tonight and they hold plastics well. I managed to get about 15 spinnerbaits, 4 packs of senkos and some worm hooks in one and about 8 packs of tubes, 20 tube jigs heads and a bunch of grubs and drop shot plastics in the other.
  8. I bought 4 of them tonight. I didn't read the size that posted on the thread. They are much smaller than I anticipated but they look like they are fairly good quality. I will use one for spinnerbaits and hooks and one for tubes and jigs
  9. Is the marina or launches (either tiffen or barrie marina) frozen over. Wanted to get out on Monday (supposed to be milder) on the wter in a boat. A normal aluminum 12' boat.
  10. That report was off the hook (sorry about the pun). Incredible!!! Pics of the Char were awesome. Pics after the fishing report were sick. Wow! Like Urban said, there is no chance of me doing a 2008 round up after seeing that. lol Congrats!
  11. I am not going now. The forecast changed. I got the weather today I was hoping for tomorrow. Maybe next monday. I will (beleive it or not) be targeting walleye. THere have been several caught recently just outside the marina off the wall a bit. People catching perch and the big walleye taking the perch and not letting go. A few 10 pound plus fish. If all else fails I was planning to catch some perch. Oh well. Maybe monday if the water is still soft.
  12. Planning to fish Simcoe on Wednesday evening if the launch is not frozen. I probably won't get out until 7 pm. Should be interesting. We'll see.
  13. It has been frozen for about 2 weeks. I drive past it everyday. Orr lake has been frozen for the same amount of time as well.
  14. I was at BPS yesterday and I checked them out. They did look cool. I thought the rod width at the handle was quite wide. Not as light as their more expensive stuff but that is why they are not as much $$. I am looking for a crankbait baitcasting rod so I might give them a second look. I also had the spinning rod in my hand and it felt alright.
  15. Maybe it could be a dock building/fishing G2G
  16. I really don't know much. Here is a description I found online: The majority of white-tailed deer have brown and white hair, but piebald deer are beautiful animals possessing white and brown fur in random patterns similar to that of a painted horse.
  17. When I first looked at it I said it was no way a bluegill, too thin but he says it is. It is 100% a LM though
  18. This might have been posted already but a friend of mine in Indiana sent me these in an email. THe first is a potential 24 point buck and the second is called a Piebald (sp?) buck. Either way, they are both impressice and I am not even a hunter. Here is the write up I got with the first buck. 24 Point Buck >>> > Shot in Livingston, KY during gun season Roger saw it chasing a doe >>> > and thought it looked pretty big >>> >>> > Shot at 150 yds - Field dressed at 215 lbs >>> > He's been told the head might sell for $100 to 200K >>> > North American Whitetail shot the story and it will air next fall >>> > Buck Master measured the antlers and said it is a >>> > new >>> > state record non-typical >>> > Boone & Crockett will wait until the antlers dry and then measure but >>> > scored a preliminary 287 >>> > The state record was broken about two years ago and had a score of 260
  19. My buddy has a pond on his property in Ohio. He found this bass floating near the shore. Looks like he bit off more than he could chew. My buddy tell me that it was a fairly large bluegill that is stuck in his throat.
  20. good sled. Stickers might need a change of colour but it should really serve your purpose well. No way I could live up there without at least one of those. I really like your property. Nice. Must have been a big cahnge from sunny England. My wife is from England as well. You will have a sweet setup when you get your portable hut as well. Look forward to seeing lots of hardwater pics from you.
  21. Sorry. Complete spelling mistake. It is Trombly's. In Orillia
  22. Got the Trombly's flyer in the paper today and a Helly Hansen 1 piece survival suit is on for $228. Seems resonable. Does anyone know if it is the one with the suspenders inside?
  23. Yeah I know what you mean. That was a regular pike spot. In front of the old Beatrice plant. I have never caught a pike there. Tons of perch. Several smallies, rock bass etc. Never a pike. Go figure. I fished there last winter for perch and did quite well.
