I have a 7'2 G-loomis blank. It is MH. My question is this: Can I make it into either a casting rod or a spinning rod by just putting the spline to bottom or top? in other words are there blanks specific for casting rods and blanks specific for spinning rods or can I just turn it and make whatever I want? thanks

Long story short, I am going to Florida at Christmas and my wife is British and I have 2 other non-Canadians that live with me so I want to see what kind of issues I will run into at the border. Damn, I don't like fish o mania but I have watched 3 seperate championships (yes 3!) from start to finish. Don't know why but I got caught up in the show somehow. Nice fish!! That is a big bag of fish. My buddy won the snowflake bass tournament both days out of Midland on the bay. He gor 22+lbs on day one and 24+lbs on day 2. His total was 46 and change for 2 days. The bay is on fire. Both smallies and largies. He told me he could have caught 7 limits on the Sunday if he wanted and he said if he one more hour to fish he would have had a 25 pound bag. I work on Georgian Bay so I know it is a tremendous fishery at times.

That is cool. I imagine that you use a float above the jig. Is that correct? Just drift fishing right? How does the glass head stay on the hook?

When I was there columbia lake was full of catfish and carp. Nasty looking fish but they were still fish.

I seem to recall several people from this board went there or are currently going there. Chime in and let us know when you went. It would be interesting to see if there were many fellow anglers when I went there. Would have been cool to have an angling club to save on gas $$. Maybe there was one there and I was unaware.
