  1. I tried it today. At first it was runing on the side a bit but I just straightened the pull ring a bit and it ran true (i didn't change the lure at all just straightened the eye.) I gave it a good shot and I will try it again soon. The problem is that I tried it in a spot today that wasn't producing. I will give it another shot very soon Jacques. Tomorrow I am taking my kids out for a tube ride and I have a spot where I take them that I have a real shot at a fish.
  2. Not trying to do anything. I fish the front of the boat on a platform and my buddy fishes the back and sits down. First fish 3.75 pounds Second fish 4.2 pounds Third fish 4.4 pounds fourth fish 2.57 pounds. You tell me. Is that how big they look?
  3. Woke up at 3 am and was fishing by 4. The night bite was not on at all but it felt like late Oct with the temperature hovering around 5 or 6 degrees. Fish have moved already. Had only 2 blowups. Decided to try something else and moved to spot 2. Managed a 3+pounder and then trolled with the dollarama outfit (could not cast it well but that is for another thread). Onto spot 3 nothing. Now it is 11 am and I have 3 fish only and two of them are dinks. Just when you think you have Simcoe figured out she throws a curve ball. Onto spot 4. Almost noon. In a matter of 30 minutes I manage two fish over 4 pounds, a 2.5 pounder and lose 2 other pigs both around 4 pounds and one at the boat after a failed net job! Should have stayed in bed until 10 am and gone directly to spot #4. haha. Here are some pics that include 2 fat 4+ pound smallies (one is 4.40 pounds)
  4. Nice. 35" and 8.5 pounds? That is pretty light for a 35" fish. Big head skinny body. That tube jig looks nasty. Congrats on the pb
  5. Good for Jenna. And from a canoe as well. Must have been a fun ride.
  6. temporary fix. Get a friend with a hammer and get him to hold it on the rivet that is leaking. You go on the opposite side and hit the same rivet. THis tightens them for a bit.
  7. Way to go Mike. That is a DONKEY!!!!!! Well done! Look how small that lure looks in it's ya. Too funny. THat is a great fish. See, you put the time on the water, do the right things and you are rewarded royally. That beats my pb LM by almost 2 pounds. lol!
  8. Most of GCD's contributions are, if not educational, memorable. lol.
  9. I would have said that it was niagara but those smallies look way too small for the river. Maybe you were using them as bait. THat must be it.
  10. if it is a tinner then set it up on a wood stand and fill it with water. go under the boat and check to see where it is leaking.
  11. The aug 29th G2G did not happen mostly because I did not get it going due tot he fact that the weatherman said thunderstorms all day and 25km East winds. East wind is the worse wind by far for KBay. ANyway, it was windy but the T-showers never came. Monday is the last fishing day for the Dollarama Tourney and pics should be posted by Tuesday Sept 1st. I will be fishing quite a bit monday to try and win this thing but it might be a tough one. Please attach all photos of caught fish onto the Dollarama sticky thread at top of Discussion thread. Good luck.
  12. Hey guys don't forget; boats run on gas, not thanks. lol
  13. Pretty sure they are just playin possum. oops my bad, not funny.
  14. Right on. Congrats to you.
  15. Do it! Do it! Not only do you have a shot at a muskie but you even get to go on a pontoon boat (possibly)! I love pontoon boats.
  16. I would put a bailer in it. I had a 12' tinner that leaked and it was my most valuable tool. Just take an old windshield washer container and but the bottom off it. THey work great as a bailer and doubles as a urinal.
  17. Exactly. Go to IKEA, buy one of their bags ($1.00). catch fish. put water in the bag. put bag on scale. Turn scale on. Put fish in bag. Done
  18. Aren't fishing 24/7, Whitespinnerbait, and Leechman from Gatineau? Pretty sure they might be. You need to hook up with those kids. Shoot them a PM. They catch fish. THey could probably point you in the right direction. I believe Gatineau is Hull, but again I could be wrong. Anyway it is the city directly across the river from ottawa, like 3 minutes away.
  19. You wouldn't want to rip a hole in a fish's mouth, that might hurt them. lol! You can weigh you fish carefully by putting the hook of the scale near the bottom where the 2 gill plates meet. Mind the gills though. I don't do that. I actually make a new small hole in the bottom lip below the bone where there is a thin layer of skin only. I figure it can't hurt them that much. I see teenagers all over the place with lip rings and piercings all over and round the mouth and they aren't crying.
  20. my dad has a garmin 265 wt and I used it in florida. Pretty sweet and easy to use. Text to speech is cool a option and the 4.3" screen is a little nicer than a 3.5". If I was going to buy one I would probably get a Garmin 255w
  21. Yes people do it for salmon as well, but don't do it. It is dirty indeed.
  22. I have been. It is all a bit shady at times. I saw one guy who bid against himself 3 times. You really have to be careful. There are some good deals but not as good as you expect. The other thing that really sucks about it is that you never get the trailer with the boat. You have to bid on the trailer seperately from the boat even if it is a custom trailer that is made specifically for that boat. It is a bit of a joke that way. You must also pay both taxes and an extra 10% brokerage fee. so that is 23% more than the price you bid on the boat and trailer (or pretty close to that)
  23. Salmon. Marshmallow big hook. Feel something and reel like snot. If that doesn't work try a big weighted trebble hook. You don't even need bait for this one. lol! On a more serious note. I usually throw cleos. If you want to change it up and be different, try this. chrome and blue rattlin spot or rattlin rap. I know it sounds weird but I have caught several using them. I think the noise of the rattles bothers them.
