  1. Sounds exensive. I would get rid of the cat for sure. Then again, I don't like cats.
  2. Send Mark Kulik a pm. If you want to catch big smallies on Simcoe he is your man.
  3. She can still humble you at times. I have been fishing Simcoe for 23 years and still learn things all the time. I have learned more in the past 4 years than I did the previous 19 together. I actually study a 6 mile portion of the lake and know it really really well. I only have limited knowledge of a quater of the lake though. It is so big with so much shoreline and different bottoms it is going to take me a lifetime to get a better understanding. I don't think I will ever actually figure her out but for now it is fun.
  4. That sucks. I don't do much of that kind of fishing for good reason. Pretty sure I would have probably made some snide remark and asked him to move. If he didn't move I would probably accidently make some pretty interesting casts.

    REPORT

Very nice. THat is a lot of people at one place. Dinner looked real good. Those atlantics look sweet. Nice chinneys as well! Great multi-species report
  6. That is a nice river indeed. I have a friend with a cottage on it further North East where it looks more like a lake than a river.
  7. This has to be my fave pic so far this year. To most people it doesn't look like much, but if you own this set up (which I do) you will know how rediculous this is. lol. I love it!
  8. My condolences. There are some really great fathers out there and I have got one. I hope I am one as well. Sounds like you had a winner as well.
  9. Once again I got out with Jaydub to hit up some of our spots on Simcoe. It wasn't long before he had a very, very big fish on. got it near the boat but he lost it! We didn't have a net and I guess you could say it was my fault because I forgot to bring it. Five minutes pass and Jaydub has another good fish on. He loses that one as well. (I am kind of laughing inside because I had this problem last wed evening.) Another five minutes pass and Jaydub hooks into yet another big bass. After a good fight Jaydub manages to boat a new PB smallmouth. Night fell and we started our usual topwater ritual. Fish weren't hitting as hard tonight but we still managed quite a few. Jaydub managed the biggest night bass as well. Fun night and bigcongrats to Jaydub on a nice PB (see Jacques I told you we would beat his old PB). I was soundly outfished yet again tonight but as a consolation, I did catch the most fish. Jaydub's big smallie Same fish - look how fat she is Good night smallie
  10. Nice indeed. I would like something like that.
  11. that is a sweet deal.
  12. not really like the American version (I wish) but there is a cabela's in the Peg http://www.cabelas.ca/
  13. There was a great article in a magazine about river fishing with senkos. Use a 3 way swivel. Bell weight to the bottom about 1 ft below swivel and off open ring run a senko about 20" of leader rigged however you like (probably texas). Always wanted to try it but never fish rivers.

Yeah that is what my buddy said. He was up there last week and got soaked. He desperatly called me and asked me to ask on OFC if there were any decent lakes. He said he marked a fair bunch of fish but ended up with about 15 bass (2 days hard fishing with another guy as well) 6 pike of no real size and 1 herring. He said when the screen was lit up on the fishfinder he ended up catching a herring on a williams. On a side not he said the scenery was phenomenal.
  15. Here is the sam fish (the 4.05) with a different camera. Quality is not good but shows the size better
  16. I am going to go with Red Oscar. People have them as pets and when they get too big they toss them. A few have survived. They can look a bit like a bass. edit** Upon further review I want to take my guess back. They are more orange bodied with black fins. now I just want to see the pic.
  17. spooks and pop r's work. I have and older bagley's topwater that works as well. You are right about the hits by the boat. Most hits come as soon as or right after the lure hits the water but those by the boat do freak you out a bit.
  18. Very very sneaky I am.
  19. I like this. I have never tried like this. Am I to assume that you do not therefore use a lead jig head inside the tube. do you use a 3/0 or 4/0 worm hook or something different?
  20. More likely at night than in the day but still not the preffered or common method for get eyes at night. Most people will troll a rapala type lure or use a slip bobber rig with live bait (or whip fishing in some river systems).
  21. My condolences. Sorry to hear about your losses this year. That is tough.
  22. That is a good fish. I remember last year's fish. It was huge. This one wasn't quite as big but a pig non the less.
  23. five of diamonds. replaced it with a red devil.
  24. Went out again tonight after sunset and caught some decent fish. I lost as many as I caught and had loads of blow ups. My best tonight was only 3.05 pounds and my buddy got a 4.05 pounder. Not as big as last week's fish but it was still fun. We both caught rock bass as well. They love to hit at night and they hit the topwater stuff as well. I can't really complain because I lost my favourite night fishing lure the other day and did not have it tonight. I bought something similar at BPS on Friday and it caught all my fish. I am happy about that. my biggest smallie of the night JT's big smallie (4.05 pounds) Rockbass - fat little guy but he looked a bit beat up.
  25. Wow some trip. Very cool. 4.5 hour fight!! Crazy
