  1. They will hit at the surface but it is very uncommon. Good job. not sure how accurate your guess is though.
  2. Oh yeah. I knew that about your camera. Sorry. Rod - I would go for something wtih more backbone than an ugly stick. You fish a lot of slop. I am not 100% sure but I must assume you are using spinning gear. If that is the case I would looks for something 7' MH one piece if possible (i know 1 piece can be a pain but they are better imo)
  3. Very cool. I hope at least one of my three girls will come fishing with me when they are teenagers.
  4. wow. sounds awesome. The school board kind of frowns on missing the first few days of the new school year. Go figure.
  5. put about 20 yards of mono backing on it and it will not slip.
  6. I am going out tomorrow. And probably tues and sat.
  7. 9-12 meter seas. Depending on your boat size I wouldn't go any smaller than a 42" sock. lol!
  8. First off, You use an Ugly Stick? (sorry I don't think highly of them at all despite the fact that more ugly sticks are sold than any other rod) Secondly, good job with a frog. 2 for 3 is good. Thirdly, you should set your camera to timer mode so we can see you holding the fish as it is always difficult to get an idea of how big your fish is. Finally, congrats on the boat. No big deal if it leaks, bring a bailer.
  9. Nice fish. Too bad about the no net but good job getting her back in the water.
  10. That Nitro 290 sport at BPS is a real real good looking boat. Fiberglass 19.5' 225 merc proXS. 15hp kicker. cool jump seats in back. So far it might be my favourite fishing/family boat. Very smart looking indeed. Only problem for me is that I come up $60,000 short
  11. I love it. I do find that when it is really dark I have a hard time judging distances (that is based on the number of boathouse doors and docks I have hit at full flight.) I once misjudged a cast to shore that it ended up 3/4 the way up a 40ft cedar tree! I managed to pull the lure out but it smelled like cedar the rest of the night.
  12. Nice fish. I have seen photos of comorants eating 12+ " walleye so it is indeed possible.
  13. A little of both. Some of my spots are busy places that people do not fish but are very public places. Secondly, the fish hit hard at night.
  14. I wait until it gets dark to go fishing.
  15. Exactly. When I cast from shore I usually leave more space between the weight and hook to compensate for the fact that you will have a small angle of elevation from the weight to the end of the rod.
  16. I only use swivels on spoons and spinner. I always use small snaps on crankbaits and jerkbaits. I tie direct to jigs
  17. I might take the family out tomorrow but if not I will give little woodchuck a shot monday.
  18. I figured it was tongue in cheek but it is always hard to tell on the net. good luck on the 4th. I hope you kill em
  19. I am pretty sure he meant killing as in slaying or catching a lot of fish. You probably knew that though. Jim, I drop shot lots and all I can say is that it works.
  20. I have drop shotted weedless and wacky. Waky is great when you want to fish a senko in deeper water but don't want to wait for it to sink. KVD wacky rigs a senko on a drop shot and works it really fast and hard. Kind of odd but he swears by it. If he says it works I am going to have to agree with that boy. He knows a thing or two about bass fishing.
  21. Now here is what I would have written. "I am sorry, I didn't not realize you were only allowed one rod per person. I am glad you guys told me this. I won't do that again. Thanks for the insight, I am learning things here already. I am going to read the Ontario rules and regs and if I don't comletely understand them I will post questions here on OFC." If you wrote that, everyone would have been off your back. Instead you tried to make up some transparent story about other people being with you. Come on, seriously, There are lots of people on this board who were born at night... but not last night.
  22. thanks guys
  23. The first time I read this I could not help but think that this might actually be McGyver. He could build a bomb with a piece of wood, cigarette butt and a piece of gum. This could be him.
  24. I think if you wait a bit the raptor will come with fords new 6.1 liter engine. Pretty serious offroad potential from a stock pick up. Lots of susp travel and comes with 35" tires. Have yet to see one on the road. Pretty $$ though
