Most people fish those 2inch Fin-s on jig heads. (1/16, 1/32). Dab some superglue on the collar of the jig before threading it on and it'll last for quite a long time. I assume you are fishing under a float. I guess if you are fishing deeper water, you can hook it thru the head and fish it behind a split shot or on a drop-shot rig. Goodluck.

For $48, I got myself a large no tangle extendible net and 10 packs of Yum soft baits at BPS. Thought I might go down to the show with that $5 after 5pm deal this year but after splurging at BPS (Nice JDM Daiwa Bradia and a cute like 1000 Sahara with a $20 rebate) and at Lebaron (Power-Pro for $12), my cards are maxed. Now a days, you don't need to go to the shows for good deals anymore. Just hit all the sales at the local stores. Gagnon is having their annual yard sale in mid April, so I guess I have a month to clear up some of my debts.
-
Those Daiwa Bradias sure went quickly at BPS. Pretty much all gone after the first hour on Friday. Lucky to get myself one. Smooth like BUTTER. You got to love those JDM reels and for $140 with the reel trade-in, now that's a deal and a half.

I think lebaron has the super silver thread in bulk spools. 3000yds for $23.

Bass Pro's Spring into Fishing Flyer is Up

Hey EC1. My eyes must be going on me, where do you the Daiwa Bradia on sale for 169.99 in the canadian flyer??? -
Go to their website and take a look at their America flyer for the sale. It is on right now down there, ours doesn't start till the 12th of March.
-
From looking at their American sites, I think up here they will have those 360 and 370 BP storage boxs on sale on March the 28th. 5 for $10, limit 10 per customer. That's how much they are down there and if I remember correctly, that was what they were up here during last year's sale.

I heard the Sportsmans Show has some sort of promotion by Rapala this year, where you can get in for 5 bucks after 5pm. That would be great to spend a few hours after work.

I guess all big companies has their good and bad products. Personally, I am a big fan of their old Series One rods and their 3" + 4" pinkies have caught me plenty of nice bows.
-
They are phasing out the last generation Fuegos right now. Check out www.tacklewarehouse.com I think its going for around $130 US. That is a great deal for a reel of that calibre.
-
If everyone else is using roe around me and not getting bites, I throw in the pinkies. The 3 inchers are good for the eastern tribs and the 4 inchers are good for the larger systems like the niagara. They sell the 4 inch ones at Al Flaherty and Fishing depot. Besides threading them on a hook, you can simply fish them on a jig head. Some times bows prefer a horizontal presentation.

Yes, Vanish is junk and yes, fluoro-leader material is stronger and more abrasion resistant than fluoro-line. For those who don't want to spend $10 plus on a 25yard spool of fluoro leader, you can use fluoro-line and some brands are better than others. Personally, I use BPS brand for leader material for most of my bass and walleye fishing but go to the more expensive stuff when I go after bows. It's just a confidence thing. For those who are interested, go to tackletour.com and read up on their fluoro-line show down. It covers everything from price, tensile strength to knot strength. It is quite informative.

1-2 inch white tube jigs are great in some of the eastern Ontario tribs, especially near the river mouths late fall and early winter. When everyone is drifting roe and not getting bites, give it a try. One problem with fishing tubes is finding a small jig head with a strong enough hook to handle those big chromers. Goodluck.

Both there R-type series and the cheaper TS2s are great rods. No problems with mine so far. The R-type is $83 and the TS2 is $50 at Le Baron. For that price, the rods are nice and light, sensitive and the fit and finish is very good. Other people I've talked to also has nothing but good things to said about them. I think the warranty is one year, not sure.

Double uni with a dab of dollar store superglue for insurance.

If you want sound fishing advice and good customer service, buy at your local shops. They depend on good customer relations for their business. As for BPS, they are only good during their spring sale. One more customer, one less customer, they don't care. You are nothing to them. IMO they have the worst customer service around (couple of ignorant rednecks on staff and one of them is a manager). A few shops not mentioned around the GTA. -Angling Specialties in TO -Fishing Depot in Rexdale -Gagnon Sports in Oshawa

Lots of shops sells Pro tec powders down in T.O. I was in Fishing Depot the other day and it was on sale for $4.00.

Like fang and I have mentioned above, these lures were designed for walleyes fished just off the bottom in fast water. They were suppose to dart in the current. They are not pencil poppers for top water application and I don't think they are cupped in the front.
-
I think I saw this lure once in an Infisherman article way back when. I think it's a local lure used only on the Detroit river back in the days for walleye fished on a 3-way???

For those of you that bought the Matzuo Tripleplay minnow at CT recently, go get some of your money back. They are now half price going for only $3.99. Just show them the receipt (if you can still find it) and they'll refund the difference. As for their action, they are basically a knockoff of a River2sea bait. They are meant to be cranked. If you twitch it, it'll probably tangle. They have a wide side to side action, more of a salmon, trout or pike bait than a bass and walleye bait. If you want even more action out of these baits, heat the lip over a candle and bend it down a bit. This will give it an even wilder wiggle. By no means is the Tripleplay an upper end quality bait, but for 4 bucks, it's not a bad deal.

It is like the mono vs braid debate. There is a time and a place for everything. You wouldn't use a baitcaster when you are fishing for walleye with a 1/8 oz jig, conversely you wouldn't flip for largies in the mats on spinning gear with 30lb line. There is however one advantage baitcasters have over spinning that no one have mention, line twists. When drag is pulled on a baitcaster, line come straight off the spool. With a spinning reel, line twist is inherent in the design everytime you retrieve line and when line is pulled off against the drag.

I don't know what is wrong with this new batch of symetre FJs on the market right now but their quality is nasty. They are on sale at Le Baron right now for $107 and I tried several reels, three 3000 series and two 2500s, and they were not smooth at all. One 3000 reel barely made two complete rotation before coming to a complete stop. Even the sales guy at the counter was surprised. I personally wouldn't buy one. You should try the Saros which is one level up and will be on sale at Gagnon in Oshawa starting on June the 18th for their fathers day sale for $120. The Saros however does not come in a rear drag model. Front drag design is better anyways because of the increase in surface area and are found in all your high end reels.

Is florocarbon leader REALLY better than mono leader?
Bernie66 replied to okumasheffield's topic in General Discussion
Same bait , same set ups for finicky crappie or trout, that fluoro leader definitely makes a difference. When the fish are active, you can go with 20lb line and it wouldn't matter but when conditions are tough, any advantage helps. Before the days of fluoro, guys with the noodle rods used to go down to 2lb leads up in some of the GB tribs and they will out fish you everytime even with a hook and land ratio of 5-1. Now with fluoro leaders you can fish 5-6lb break strength with that 2lb visible, so why not. I agree fluoro is not necessary in most situations, bottom bouncing niagara or float fishing some of the eastern tribes (most days). but I always have a couple of spools of flouro in that vest pocket. Like someone else had said up top, it is just another weapon in the arsenal.
