  1. I have many pictures with those suckers, biggest ones were in the 7lb range for me. Here is one from last summer frogging off shore one evening. was in the Gananoque area, they love slop frogs the dam things. Always get me excited thinking I hooked into a giant largie but then I realize I have a giant dogfish on the line. North Kingston lakes, shallow water look for slop and pads...
  2. This just makes me want to yell so loud 73 Days and counting
  3. saltwater crap and salmon crap...no thanks, bassin shows are the reason wfn is in tv
  4. garden gloves and some cheap southbend tackle....$5
  5. Lot's to be added yet, the Pile of rods around my desk is unreal...lot's of Daiwa, St Croix, Shimano and other goodies to be added. Lot's of cheaper discount items but some better gear it yet to come Tones of those lures btw, Excalibur, Cotton Cordell, there are a few containers of $5 Rapalas to come also.
  6. Volunteered with CLOCA in my school days, then in college I did more tree planting and volunteering with them. Got into the Atlantic Salmon hatchery and took part in the release of yearlings a few thousand I remember stocking with a dozen people from Fleming. was a blast, and now I hear of Atlantic's being caught here and there on the board, kinda neat I guess Since then I've sold rods and reels and helped people catch fish (don't think I'm helping the creatures out too much )
  7. When I first got into bass fishing real good some of the first "high end" rods I bought were for flipping/pitching and frogging. Simply because the rod's for the job needed to be powerful, sensitive, light in hand, and warranty covered. I can deal with a cheap casting rod and can fish it all day with little fatigue but give me a cheap flipping stick and the amount of extra rod weight sucks. Your swinging light to 1oz baits constantly all day long looking for a a handful of bites a light balanced setup is needed for this so try and get the best you can afford. I started with a pair of St Croix Legend Tournament rods a 7'3XH and a 7'H(1 blew apart the other is long gone) Seemed light to me paired with Curado 200E7's caught lot's of fish and learned the basics of pitching and punching through cover with plastics and jigs. But then I went over to what G.Loomis has to offer. The difference in balance was huge. I didn't realize how "tip-heavy" the St Croix's were and when your rod is pointed to the sky most of the day you want the weight in your wrist not at the top of the rod, tip down applications like twitchbaits, spinnerbaits, jerks or canks the balance of the rod is not as important due to the rod being pointed down 80% of the time. I purchased a BCFR893 Mossyback, it's a 7'5" Medium Heavy powered rod excellent for all around pitching. Balances really nice with a sub 7oz reel like the Core 100MgFV, or 50Mg7's. This rod gave me a taste of what a expensive flipping stick is all about, balance, power, amazing sensitivity and backed by a awesome warranty. I'm a tackle nut so I upgrade to the BCFR894 GLX (sub $500) at 7'5" and Hvy power this is one of my go-to stick's in the cover and don't think I will try anything else for the heavy cover flipping/punching. The price is a few hundred but you quickly forget about it when you feel the sensitivity balance and power all working together. Your looking for a stout rod that your chasing big fish with buy a quality stick you will not be disappointed. Lot's of great options out there!
  8. Plan on fishing for some Pike up north this Spring with some guys from work. Then I have a cottage booked for a week starting on Bass opener in June. Dad, Uncle, little brother and myself, going to be a blast get to fish my favorite waters out in Eastern Ontario nice and early vs August like were use to. After that back to work for a couple weeks and then I'll be camping in the beginning of August for a week. After that some more work for a month then I'll try and escape once more come the end of September for a half week cottage trip. Mind you, the fishing is what I do every day while on vacation. No sleeping in, up at 5:30 every day and on shore for less then 3 hours during sun light hours A little nuts but thats fishing Bring on Summer can't wait to get on the water!
  9. I laughed at first but feel bad for ya. Simcoe has one of my cell phones but no fishing gear
  10. He will have a blast at the Lodge TJ, by far one of the best summers in my life was spent up there! Looks like you have a fun summer ahead of you TJ. I have a little cottage booked for the week mr largemouth season opens up and then the annual camping trip in August! Can't wait! Enjoy the rest of winter MTBF

      ecmilley

yup counting it down, but maybe a little trip to champlain in order

  12. I used one of the new Citica's with crankbaits last year. Great little reel, easy to adjust and seemed to keep backlashes down even with straight fluoro. x2 on the suggestion of a Citica. The Caenan has the VBS breaking over the Caius with the easy mag system. Have a look at this reel also. For under 100 bucks it will do the job for many summers for your son I'm sure. Let us know your choice MTBF
  13. no photobucket locnar? comeon i have to click every single link while sitting looking at the computer Very nice little picture recap, lot's of nice ones! MTBF
  14. Shimano does and they do a good job, $25 fee unless it's a Stella, then your covered for life on cleanings. Mike
  15. Aikmans, we send them for customers. They always do a top notch job. Mike
  16. 119 Days Left Some great pic's guys
  17. Hope you got the 3 year license when your card expired. Other wise your safe for this year but the following two you need to tuck in the yellow slip into your wallet with your card. No brainer, your saving money this way paying the current price x3 rather than paying a extra 2 or 3 bucks every year as the license price jumps up slightly.
  18. It's been a little while since the end of last September when I was chasing largies, can't wait to get out on opener in June. Booked a cottage for a solid week starting on opening day should be a blast. Always look forward to the annual August camping trip, were doing a 2 week trip this summer. Hope to catch a few monsters this summer! And Another 120 days left
  19. Funky blue card came in today
  20. I don't think Scugog holds a secret spot anyway haha...but I see your point. I would share a spot or two but there not around here anyway..would make for a good show seeing as I fish some funky bass waters
  21. Same with me :S
  22. Will never happen. Take your rubber plastics that get chewed up and keep them in a bait or pail in your boat then throw them out at home. Yes the odd time the senko get's stolen and you never see it again but keep the plastics out of the lake, bio degradable or not...Can't change plastics in the belly's of the odd fish I guess but what can you do... imagine the chaos when the ban on Water Gremlin sinkers comes out haha.
  23. Cumara Very nice build garry, rod building is something lot's are doing these days, hope you find/build exactly what you are after!
