  1. Real nice Dave, those are some HAWGS. The smile says it all
  2. Sweet report, really nice mixed bag of quality fish. Darcy
  3. I'm sure that alot of guys throw their fish back before weigh-in if they know they're not in the running for money. Like if you have a 15lb bag on Simcoe, you aren't cashing a cheque, so throw them back and skip the line for weigh-in. Some pretty heavy hitters in that tourney, and still some really impressive weights brought in. Way to go Barry and Jason, good job guys! Darcy
  4. Hilarious
  5. I have been using 4lb & 6lb Fireline Micro Ice Crystal with an 18" 3 or 4lb flouro leader for the last couple of seasons, and have had good success with it. I rarely fish inside and I've never had a problem with excessive ice on the line. I have also never had the mainline break on me, but I generally use fairly soft ice rods. On rods with a stiffer action I use flourocarbon mainline. This year I also bought a couple spools if the Stren equivalent of Micro Ice Crystal. Looks pretty good, now we just need some ice...
  6. Nice hawg. Spinnerbaits are my absolute favorite bait to throw. Good job.
  7. Very sage advice. Under the age of 11 or 12, most kids wrist' aren't strong enough to press down on the guitar strings properly, resulting in a frustrating learning experience. Piano is a great (if not the best) instrument to build musical talent with, and it leaves lots of options for other instruments in the future. Darcy
  8. Great looking pike bro!
  9. Interesting read, but these threads always end up the same way...
  10. Well said Craig, I couldn't agree more. Darcy
  11. I hooked a couple of fish on a Heddon Sonar near the end of June/08 while camping in Agawa Bay. Had one fish follow in my lure and strike within about 10ft of the shore, unfortunately it came of so I have no idea what it was. Another fish followed me in a few casts later, but I couldn't get him to commit. I had very limited tackle up there(small spinners and stuff for stream trout) but I really would have liked to at least ID what kind of fish they were. Each looked to be around 5 or 6lbs, and I think that they looked like some sort of salmon or trout. There was a pretty stiff wind blowing into shore that day, that was the only reason I was even throwing the Sonar: my other gear was almost to light to cast!
  12. I've seen them 4 times both indoors and out, and each time was better than the last. Couldn't get tix to this one and I'm not dropping 3bills to a scalper. I'm sure you'll enjoy the show immensely. Have fun!
  13. Likewise!
  14. LMAO Well played Doc!!!
  15. Try Nanmark Cottages on Lighthouse Road. (705) 752-3125 Terry and Liz will take great care of you! darcy
  16. I've been trying the new KVD spinnerbaits as of late and have been pleasantly surprised. They are a bit pricey but they have thicker gauge wire, nice skirts with 'tails' (and a trailer hook) and have brought me a nice smallie that was pushing 7lbs a few weeks ago. Also got me 4 muskies on Sunday(3 landed) and a bunch of bass all on the same one. This bait still fishes like it is right out of the package (minus the eyes that came off after the second 'ski). I use Booyahs quite a bit, Stanleys occasionally, no-names a little and Terminators the very odd time, I find that the blades on the Terminators foul a lot.
  17. This link to the Ontario College of Physicians and Surgeons should be helpful: http://www.cpso.on.ca/docsearch/ Darcy
  18. Mission accomplished Skip!
  19. Cleos work well in the Lower River (fall time anyway) and tubes are a solid choice for smallies. Good luck,
  20. Watermelon has worked for buddies of mine but I like pitching a 1/2 or 3/4oz black and blue with a black 3.5" trailer. mmmmmm Darcy
  21. Another consideration is the action of the rod that you're using. A soft rod will not pull a bait through the weeds as readily as one with a stiffer action. With a stiff rod you can kind of rip through the weeds. If you are texas rigging or using a flippin' jig, go heavier than you would when fishing just the edges: the bait needs to get down into the strike zone quickly.
  22. Thanks fellas
  23. Hey all, Anyone have the results from yesterdays Casey Cup, or know where I can track them down? Thanks alot, Darcy
  24. Holy crap!!! A fish of a lifetime! WTG, great fish
  25. I like the idea of using real names. Darcy
