Try Paul Castelano from Cast Adventures; literally one of the best guides around. Been out with him a couple times and was blown away by some of his skills & knowledge. www.castadventures.ca Another great one is Frank DiMarcantonio; last time I was down there, Frank's clients were smashing them one after the other, while most were just picking off one here and there. www.niagarasportfishing.ca As stated, you definitely don't want to drop your boat in that river (upper or lower) without being 100% confident in your boat, your equipment and your own set of skills. It is a different style of fishing than anything I've done before, and a guide will help chop down a very steep learning curve. Best of luck out there and be careful. Darcy On a side note, did anyone else notice Paul's 2 pics in this years BPS master catalog? Good job man!

Thanks fellas, I think I'll look into some scratchers. Darcy

Just wondering how the conditions are for sled travel out on Simcoe. Thinking of hitting the East side tomorrow, think there is enough snow on the ice to keep the sliders cool? Thanks, Darcy

Got these fellas at my 8th stop of the day. Let a couple go and lost another few, including one right at the hole that had to be over 6lbs. Throughout the day I marked some great schools, but not all seemed hungry. I called in most fish with the jigging rap and sealed the deal with a Williams half and half. The bottom one in the pic was 5lbs and the top one was 4 lbs 11 oz; both fought like absolute champs! Lots of fish out there, just have to get on them! Darcy

Thanks for the replies! I tried to get a hold of Andrew but couldn't reach him. Darcy

Anyone here aware of the ice conditions on Mountain Lake near Minden or if Andrew Graham has his huts out? I was thinking of heading up on Saturday but don't want to waste a trip if the ice is questionable... Thanks, Darcy

RIP Nanook. Never met the man but sure loved his name. My deepest condolences go out to the family. Darcy

I think Hook n Look is a good show, probably one of the better, more informative 'Bass Shows' out there. As long as he wasn't poaching, nothing wrong with fishing bedding bass; from what I hear they can be quite challenging at times. As for him pimping up his sponsors, well duh!!!

I've been out with Cast Adventures for bass on Erie and for Steelies in the Lower Niagara, and both trips were unbelievable. Pauls sight fishing skills on Erie were incredible, and I couldn't believe how well he had the Lower River figured out. A stellar angler that truly lives to fish. A big recommend for Paul Castelano from this guy. Darcy

I caught this bad boy 2 years ago while prefishing for a Simcoe tourney with a buddy. I couldn't get an official weight, because it bottomed out his 6.6lb culling scale. This pig was likely every ounce of 7lbs.

Ron & Leo don't usually show up too high in the results. That being said there were a few skunkings in the Casey Cup that really surprised me.

Surprised that no-one has mentioned that squirrels make noises that sound a lot like Lazslo's description...

Great first post and nice report. Darcy

Then do it that way. Please folks, realize that by posting your fishing hot spots online, it truly opens them up to the masses. It can turn a spot where you used to see a couple of boats/anglers in a day to a real crapshow, almost instantly. I have seen it happen, and it sucks. Sorry 416Angler, but give your head a shake. He really is. I consider myself a pretty good angler, but he really blew me away. Can't wait, heading out with him on Sunday for some May steelhead action! Darcy

Paul Castelano is one of the best bass fishermen that I have ever had the pleasure of fishing with. http://www.castadventures.ca/ Darcy

Been to Nanmark, stayed with Terry & Liz, stellar operation. Chill out Rizzo. -
HUUUUUGGGGGEEEEE Kudos to Bigugli for not only bringing this to light, but for following up on it. As stated, the Conservation Authority, Department of Fisheries and Oceans and the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources are the ones to call, and if the homeowner didn't have a permit, all of the above will have their shorts in a major knot...Ouch. As some are surely aware, if you don't follw the rules set out by these departments, they will throw the book at you: fines and restoration of the area in question to its original state. Non-complience could lead to jail time. I would be absolutely shocked if anyone granted this clown a permit to alter the shoreline like that. Again, great job Bigugli. I'd really like to see what comes of this. Darcy

I've had decent success for lakers and whities with the LB 3" tube in pearl. In fact, my PB white fish succumbed to that very bait in 2009. Darcy
