  1. For baitcasting or spinning gear, I like to throw with a 6'6" or 7' MH when using dingers(baitcast and spinning) and frogs(baitcast only). With senkos/dingers etc, you can likely get away with a medium action rod in open water with the hook texposed, but if you're working any sort of cover, the extra balls of a medium heavy are great. Likewise if you're chuckin' frogs into the slop, you'll want the extra power of a medium-heavy or even a heavy stick to bury the hook and horse them out. Good luck out there, Darcy
  2. Congrats to Ted and Dave, thanks for the info Charles. Darcy
  3. Hey everyone, just wondering if anybody knows who won the pike tournament on Lake Nosbonsing today?? Darcy
  4. One thing that you may not think to bring is a bug net to sleep under; they hang like a fine mesh cage over your bunk. I swear, they're worth their weight in gold. Darc
  5. Try Nanmar Cottages just West of Callander Bay. I'll be up there from June 11 to 14, can't wait...
  6. Never got one on a figure 8 but have tried on pike and muskies a few times. Good job on your success!!!
  7. So true, I once spent 2.5hrs of fishing time trying to get the truck out of a unmaintained ramp. I almost always pay for concrete now; almost 'cause I have 4-wheel drive now
  8. What a thread; those pics are something else.
  9. Nice fish Stonefly, looks like some pretty clear water you're fishing.
  10. 'eyes are a tough bite in canal but as stated above, the pike can keep you busy...
  11. It is a great feeling to "break the ice" when learning to fish steel. Really nice fish, WTG
  12. Gotta love the Niagara steel, real nice fish.
  13. Great fish SS
  14. Great link Bigsmallie, Thanks alot!!!
  15. Great report and pics Jim, I'm sure everyone appreciates the tips as well. Definately liking the Riverworms, but can't find the dark pink colour. Any suggestions? Darcy
  16. Hey Ryan, as usual great report. The Niagara really is a kick-butt fishery. I love hitting it into the fall/winter months, but I've only been in the spring a handfull of times. What were you getting the fish on? Tight lines, Darcy
  17. Great job bro, an 8lb whitey is a real tank. Heading out on Friday myself, good luck.
  18. I use the "Gamees" myself, didn't like the stand outs so much: found them to be extremely dull out of the package and didn't hold the bait in the proper position that well.
  19. I'm saying Kelly Jordan or KVD. Never count out Rick Clunn either...
  20. Beat me to the punch Roy! Such a sad day, I've really enjoyed Buddy Holly's music since I was a child. The first of many rockers to die far too young. Darc
  21. Definitely some high end rods, never used one but I've heard good things. Where abouts are you located? I don't know of any dealers in the GTA...
  22. Try this link: http://snowfariadventures.com/ice_conditions.php
  23. Well Bernie, that is excellent news. My trip is to the Callander area with Rob Hyatt, so hopefully he can get his bungalows out in time. There are some cold temps forecast for the area, so we may be alright. Thanks so much for the update, I have my fingers crossed. Darcy
  24. That wasn't what I wanted to hear, but thanks for the update. Hopefully it will tighten up over the next couple of weeks.
  25. Been out in Rob's bungalows for the last 5 years, and haven't been disappointed yet. Always great service, warm bungalows, and the fish are there, you just have to work for them at some times of the year. Last year I was out on the opener and closer, and we got lots each time. Good mix of keepers and slot fish, my biggest 'eye out of there is 6lbs. 2 years ago my buddy got a fat 38" pike as we were packing up to leave. Really solid operation, you'll have a blast. Darcy
