  1. Sorry to hear the bad news. Best wishes for getting through the battle. Your a strong individual. I have faith you will overcome. Nice fish too !
  2. Heres my recomendations. For bass fishing you really do need a couple of rods for different applications. I personally like longer rods but thats just my preferance because Im 6'3" I would suggest the following 7'2 or 7'5 MH or H flipping stick for jigs, creature baits and can also double as a frog rod 6'6 or 7' MH Extra fast casting for spinnerbaits, buzzbaits 6'6 or 7' Med. fast casting for topwater, jerkbaits, cranks 7'MH spinning rod for senkos, tubes, grubs ect.... These 4 rods should cover everything you need. As for grips, its personal preferance. I like the split grips but do like cork better than the foam. When the foam gets fish slime on it, it gets really slippery. Some may say that you only need one rod, but would you tell a golfer he only needs one club ?
  3. Thats a killer day Dude ! Please invite me next time !!! Lovin those largies
  4. Well done Steve !
  5. Looks cooooold ! I also checked out the hike in pike vid. nice
  6. Now, Now Bill. be nice to the bass
  7. Personally I love the Curados. Stick with the high speed ( 7:1 ) reels. Pigeontroller had a great suggestion with the Castaic. My buddy has an old one and loves it. Dont bother with a leader, its just one more point that can fail when setting the hook or hauling big bass from cover. Straight braid is the way to go. good luck with your choice
  8. Yep, gettin old sucks Danny. But you of all people must know that already. But seriousily, Telly is the only guy that can handle 14 hrs sraight on the boat. Not to mention that he will rarely turn down hitting "just one more spot before dark " ( which really means 3 ) Thanks, that bait is actually a prototype soft plastic spoon that will be out on the market hopefully next year by Wake Fishing Thanks for all the kind words guys !

    Report

Nice report. St.Marys looks like a wicked place to fish. I will have to get up there someday Thanks for posting
  10. Whoa. That thing looks HUUUUUGE ! Nicely done
  11. Every once in a while while travelling to my dads house without the boat, My buddy and I fit 8 , 1 piece rods with the butt sections at the foot area of the passenger side and the rods between the two seats. My buddy looses some leg room but thats his problem. You will be fine
  12. Great fish ! They dont get much bigger than that around here. Very well done. Thanks for posting
  13. Looks like you guys had fun out there. That laker looks huge. a great fight I bet. Well done
  14. Hey Guys, 2012 was a fun season on the water. This year was the least amount of fishing in recent years. 3 kids in rep sports ( 2 girls playing Volleyball and 1 boy playing Hockey ) keeps me very busy. Trout fishing seems to be a thing of the past, but I still enjoy watching the float drop. I have been running the same piece of leader material on the float rod for 2 consecutive years now. Pike fishing has and always will be one of my favorites. The extended season here in southern Ontario and their overall aggressiveness has me searching for them almost all season. The boat saw 3 new pike lakes this year that still need some more exploring. The much anticipated bass season was moderately successful. I know many of you think that catching bass is not much of a challenge, but consistently catching BIG bass is. Largies are by far my favorite, but this year it was the smallies that came out to play. On a side note and a bit of a shameless plug....... My father has been importing some cool new baits from Finland and trying to break into the Canadian market. http://www.wakefishing.com/ Lots of free samples of some interesting grubs, swim baits, jerk baits and a new prototype soft plastic spoon saw lots of action this year. Please check out the website or P.M. me for more details. On to the pics........ Good luck out on the ice this year. I will see you all in the spring.
  15. Thanks for all the replies Guys ! Cram, that video was funny. That pretty much sums up my life. ecmilley, thanks for the imput. Your mechanical knowledge is always welcome and appreciated on the board. The Sienna seems great so far. Compared to the old Caravan, the Sienna is by far a superior car.
  16. Hey Guys, I just purchased a used Toyota Sienna ( 2007, 170 Km ) Just wondering if anyone has any imput. Known problems, good things, bad things ect.... Thanks
  17. Some very interesting pictures and characters. Congrats to Grant & Bren ! Thanks for the report and good luck to you and yours for 2013 MSP
  18. The ramp at the ferry was fine as of yesterday. 4x4 needed for sure.
  19. This is nice to see. Not to highjack the thread but the TRCA and MNR just released 75 adult walleye into the T.O. harbour Here is a link to the video on you tube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vYg33Lg3Oow Congrats to all involved on both projects
  20. And I thought that catching 2-3 pound largies on a Pop-R was fun
  21. I have been using the Rio wire leader this year with great success for pike fishing. Very easy to tie a back to back uni knot , no kinking whatsoever and way more durable than flouro leaders. I do have some of the swivels but have not tried them yet. They look durable and well made. Trout guys fishing gin clear water will love them.
  22. All good points here. If you do end up running a shot line , I would recomend 10 high quality flourocarbon main line. Flouro seems to be a bit better for abrasion , so moving your split shot around shouldnt be a problem. A couple of more points and suggestions. When fishing in below zero temps the top swivel ends up becoming ice covered and useless. If you are using the top swivel during these conditions coat the swivel with some chap stick every once in a while to prevent ice build up When putting your split shot on your line dont apply too much pressure, just pinch them on lightly so that adjusting them later will be easier
  23. I used to let my roe rot a little bit in my vest for a while. But there is a fine line between a little stinky and down right nasty.
  24. Best report all month !!!! Lovin the largies. Please p.m. gps coordinates before my trip in March !
  25. Early to mid March is prime time on the north shore of Lake Ontario for steelhead. Lots of options too. All the rivers should be prime.
