You want to etch up the plastic pretty good...60 grit Emery Cloth solved the problem for me

Quick and easy hack for Ram mounts...rough up the ball and socket with some medium grit sandpaper, and keep clean with some rubbing alcohol every once in a while...stops any slipping

My Dad and his fishing buddies would call any small (hammer-handle) Pike a "Grass Pike"...and anything over say 30" was a "Northern Pike".

My in-laws (of all ages), in the Niagara area, to this day still call them "Black Bass"...

On another note...the reg's were a lot simpler back then...a one page tri-fold. Today it's a 143 page (I just counted) novel... Which can be interpreted as a political comment too...government just keeps getting bigger and bigger..

I have all my units on Ram mounts...allows for the ultimate flexibility in positioning, and easy to fold away for traveling.

A little history for the young guns (and reminiscing for the old farts)...how the terminology for the species has changed here in Ontario. The "Ontario Fishing Regulations" from 1960....what the gov't called them back then: "YELLOW PICKEREL (Dore, Pike-Perch, Walleye-Pike)" "PIKE (Great Northern Pike and Grass Pike)" "SPECKLED TROUT" "BLACK BASS" "MASKINONGE" Those are the terms I grew up with....the Ontario regs changed the names to Walleye, Northern Pike, Brook Trout, Smallmouth, Largemouth and Muskellunge, I believe sometime in the late 70's. ...and looking at the photo, it seems folks kept and ate Musky...lol

Bass season opens this weekend for most of southern Ontario. Curious...when you take that first cast on Saturday morning, what's going to be hanging on the end of your line ? And what are you targeting...green fish or brown fish ? Although because of a (stupid) nephew's wedding, I won't be able to get out until Monday...for me it's Smallies on a jerkbait...probably Shadow Rap Shad in Black/Silver.

Them and Pro J Tackle in Scarborough have the best selection of Bass stuff in Ontario. "don’t recall seeing any Mepps stuff either"....Bass don't eat Mepps....lol

Same on my lake in FMZ18. A few days ago some clowns were bouncing baits off my dock and shoreline, as I'm sitting there. When they caught a Bass they even posed and took photos of it. When I called them out on it, their response was "don't worry, it's cool dude, we're all catch and release". I tried to explain to them that the males are guarding the nest, and pulling them off even for a few seconds allows other fish to gobble up the fry. They argued with me, then eventually gave me the finger, and took off.. I used to sharpen and hone all my knives by hand. I had the different grit stones and even a clamp/guide to maintain the angle, etc. Then my kids got me a Chefs Choice Trizor XV electric sharpener for Christmas. It will put a 15 degree multiple angle edge on your blade that's razor sharp and extremely durable. Given the profile of the edge, its almost impossible to duplicate by hand. Every buddy I have recommended it to raves about it and won't go back to hand sharpening.

A few good points in that article...but it's from California, homes are a little different there. Often no basements and no duct work for forced air systems. Heat pumps and ductless split systems for AC are typical there, so a room unit may be the only option. I wouldn't waste my money on one up here if you have a tradional FA furnace like most of Ontario. Unless the room is hermetically sealed, and you never go in and out of it, not the best solution.

Great idea...you want a filter with a minimum rating of MERV 13 to capture smoke particulate. Also, if the label says " electrostatic" that helps too. Switching your return/drop from a 1" filter to a 5" thick media filter provides much better air quality, and can be done relatively inexpensively. Installing a UV light on your supply duct will also help. Ultimately, you can install a HEPA system, but that can get pricey, however OHIP will pay for it if you have medically documented breathing issues. I wouldn't spend a penny on a "room filter". Now retired after over 40 years in HVAC...who knew I would be giving advice on a fishing forum...

I'm surprised he wasn't looking for any dry flies....Grayling readily sip bugs from the surface, and of course so much fun watching them inhale it. A Black Gnat is a "go to" up north of 60.. Nice work on the bead heads !
