  1. I forgot that you mentioned this. That’s great of you to offer, but I’m in the early pondering stages right now. Also too, I won’t need anything until the summer/fall so it’s not a rush.
  2. that’s quite nice! I totally forgot about these.. Plenty of towing power. And only six cylinders. A torqey inline 6 if I’m not mistaken. I like. Thanks for the link
  3. I had an 87 short box Chevy Silverado. I wish I never sold it. i’d love to find a classic 87 to 91 suburban 4 x 4. Because I won’t be using it much the fuel mileage doesn’t matter to me a whole lot. But they've become quite pricey too if I could find one that hasn’t been turned into a mud truck. And that is pretty old. I found some clean late 90s and early 2000s 4Runners that aren’t priced too badly. But for every dollar I spend on a tow vehicle, I’m cutting into my savings for a four stroke or Etec.
  4. What, engines too?? Well I guess a Bills if sale for an engine makes sense. It does have a serial number and they can be very expensive. Probably a good idea
  5. Thanks guys. I registered my hull with transport Canada. I can’t recall if we discussed the boat at all when I registered my trailer plates at MTO. I don’t think they asked and I don’t think i offered. In any case, I’ve got to figure out what I said when I registered the hull. I must have an email about it somewhere. The last thing I want to do is pay too much tax. They’re already getting half of what I make
  6. I know what you’re saying. Yes around 5K. I can’t justify any more when I have an all expenses paid daily driver and my wife has the family car. It’s nothing more than an occasional camping- fishing trip vehicle. I’m getting closer to retirement so the last thing I want is new car payments. Looking for something I can pay out-of-pocket for. I think the days were the full-size blazers and Broncos and jeeps were rugged, cheap and easy to repair driven forever even with the body falling off it like The Toyota forerunner‘s, land cruisers etc. Are gone. Old as dirt with 300 to 400 K and still running strong. The last few decades have been nothing but pop can throwaways. Scrapyards crush anything older than 10 years old now, so the prospect of finding parts for fixer-upper’s or restorations are looking feeble. I think I’m answering my own questions here... Looking for the needle in the haystack
  7. So I got a letter from the Ministry of finance requesting information about a boat I purchased almost 4 years ago. I registered the hull in my name like I was supposed to shortly after I bought it. It says I may now have to pay GST on it. What the hell is this? Is Ford trying to extrapolate any bit of pocket change from people years after they buy something by charging them retail sales tax ??? I can’t remember what I paid for it, but it wasn’t much. It’s the principle here that really annoys me. They should have asked me for HST when I registered the hull. I have two registered boats. Still waiting for the second letter to show up... Has anybody else received one of these?
  8. Thanks, We had s grand caravan for years and loved it. I don’t like the idea of a FWd at the boat launch though. Not on wet or late fall icy. I didn’t know about AWD Siennas. Good to know. I’d like to be well under $10 k if possible as I’ll use it only a few times a month and a few weeks and a handful of weekends a year in the summer/fall.
  9. Hey everyone, looking for people‘s thoughts on some cheap but reliable beater 4x4’s. I’m fortunate enough to have a company vehicle which is plenty capable of towing my boat or small camper, however I’m limited to distances and places I’d really like to go. My wife does not want a truck or SUV so I’m looking for a spare vehicle that won’t let me down with spinning wheels at a boat launch or some back country camping where I don’t have to worry about getting a dirty or breaking something or scratching the paint. I’m not looking to do rock crawling or any extreme off-road activities. It doesn’t have to be pretty or fast or have all the latest creature comforts. But I would like it to be powerful enough to tow up to 2500-3500 pounds. I’m not opposed to doing a restoration on models with reliable mechanicals. I live in southern Ontario and used pick up truck prices are on the moon even for complete and total trash cans. So now I’m thinking small SUV or even something utilitarian. Any ideas? I’ve been wondering about the older V6 RAV4 4x4 early 2000’s to 2010sh
  10. Lots of Cougar too. The 4 legged kind
  11. Is the owners name Noah jr?
  12. I’m eager to see what Tesla comes up with. Seeing lots of Tesla’s cars around here lately Aside from the “stadium headlights”, I love everything that Rivian has created in this pickup. I’m sure I can’t afford one when they are available, but man do I think this stuff is off the charts cool. This video gives you a really good look inside and out. Rivian was founded by one of Tesla’s early founders and backed by Ford. I think this may be where Ford is getting its tech for the F150 electric
  13. Yeah, a flip won’t work. Drop axle or torsion would be my pick
  14. How much lower do you need to go? Is an axle flip possible or practical? Got photos?
  15. I’d be concerned about submerging also. But I’m sure Ford or GM is quite aware that hundreds of thousands of their trucks have been used for boat launching over the decades. Anyone concerned could use a hitch extension at the launch. Edit; I just read that the 2020 Jeep Wrangler can drive through 30” of water which would submerge the batteries tucked under the frame. I suspect any higher would mean damage or shorting in the motor or power block systems. I’ve never stuck my truck 2.5’ of water to launch.
  16. Might not be for everyone, but it would suit my needs. They’ve made some serious strides since. I’d probably wait a few years until the new technology proves itself in a truck, in Canadian winters. My next vehicle will be a hybrid at the very least. I hear Ford is working on an F150 Hybrid also. GM has announced an all electric pickup coming. It will be our eventual future and I’m for it. I don’t expect everyone to agree or be on board.
  17. I want one of the new Ford F-150 Electrics coming out in 2021. I wonder if they have a front trunk like the Rivans do.
  18. Anyone know if the salmon are running yet? My brother and I are heading out tomorrow morning. Planning on fishing in and around the Saugeen river
  19. I don’t buy into this natural cycle business. How can we not have a hand at global warming? I’m afraid to look at it for fear of what it means. What it means to my kids, what it means to my grandkids. What it means to the rest of the earths creatures. I want to do the right thing but I can’t afford a full roof full of solar panels and electric cars etc. But if all these things were affordable, I’d do it in a heartbeat.
  20. The cutting board & 3m 5200 also sounds great but close to $30 bucks too. I think i’ll Opt for this kit
  21. I’d Put some vee dams in front of all those protrusions to channel water around. And im envious that other site. What a great piece of paradise. Build is looking great
  22. Beautiful catches. Boat is pretty nice too. I’d sure be happy with it
  23. Best of luck to you Tom. I hope whatever path you choose turns out to be beneficial. I wish I could help
  24. I trust you. I can’t read that small!
  25. Good to know. I thought seafoam was a more or less a cleaner/conditioner. I got the Lucas for free, so I thought what can it hurt.
