  1. I’m just wondering how many of you guys ever stop to shore fish or drop a canoe/kayak into those pristine looking roadside water bodies that just scream fish? i always say to myself, “someday” and wonder if anyone ever stops to try it. It seems I’m always in a hurry to my destination or home and wonder what I’m missing. You guys ever try them out and find a goldmine?
  2. If you are going cordless or robot, you have to keep the blades sharp or you lose run time. I’ve noticed a difference in run time on my cordless over last year. Sharpening is on the do list for today and the nice thing about it is it won’t piss fuel out like the lawn boy did when I turn it on it’s side. I do miss the lawn boy staggered wheel though
  3. I’ve been listening to a lot of Joe Bonamassa and Kenny Wayne Shepherd lately (modern blues virtuoso’s)
  4. That’s scary stuff! I can’t imagine having a tornado bearing down on me or passing nearby in the dark. Or in the middle of the night when we’re sleeping. Glad to hear you got through it relatively unscathed
  5. I'd be pulling bateries out of the boat for the winter. Perhaps a multi bank tender chager would be best for winter maintenance charging? Very cool. Do you know if the genius can diferentiate between battery types and charge accordingly? For example, if I had a pair of AGMs for the TM and a flooded for starting on the same charger, would each bank be treated as needed? I always charge immediately but there will be times where they may stay depleted for a day or two if we're away camping. Good to know about the Noco and long term charging! Thanks again guys
  6. I suggest Lexan over plexi. Plexi cracks easily and lexan/polycarbonate won’t. If your bends are long and crisp, I’d check to see if the glass shop can do the heat bends.
  7. You likely have enough factory foam. Might be able to reclaim some of your storage(?) Can you put aluminum trim on the cut edges of vinyl? I Hope to see more pics.
  8. Not so amazing really, aluminum boats last forever. I used to be a Millwright/metal fabricator by trade, so a couple of skills but anyone can learn. And the rest is maintenace and respect for the machines Here’s my offseason restoration project. I do a bit every year. It’s an early fish and ski that started back in 1969 (I think). Not my cottage (I WISH)
  9. Wow, I've been looking for a month on the Jij; There is literally NOTHING for sale out there except old, OLD stuff. I'm starting to think I might have to cough up for a new one.
  10. nice an clean looking boat. Lots of good storage options. Does the dark panel of the rear deck fold back for deep access?
  11. Oh to have a 20 year old boat. Mine is 45 but like you, I enjoy working on it. It's off season/off weather hobby thats still sort of fishing related
  12. WI don’t charge my batteries through the winter (charged up last use in October and stored until spring) so perhaps that didn’t help. I do like the idea of AGM’s and Costco’s price seems pretty good. Before I buy, I’ll need to read up on on-board chargers to be sure I know the full conversion costs
  13. Thanks guys. It sounds like I'm not getting the same life out of my battereies as others get. I'm wondering if my charger isnt very good or I'm draining them down too far. I used one of my deep cycle batteries in the winter to boost my tuck a few times. Surely thats not detrimental? I charged it right away. I use the nautilus battery charger. Maybe I'll get a battery tester and check the cells. The battery is only ~3 years old and was depleted only 2 hours of my 55lb troller running up to 60% peak. mostly 30-40%
  14. thanks - I should have done a search 1st.
  15. I'm looking for pair of type 27 Marine/Deep cycle batteries for my troller. I heard once Walmart had good but cheap batteries but thier site says price unavilable. I'm wondering if its because they are phasing out thier automotive service. Carquest has Type 24's on sale for ~$98ish but I wanted the extra reserve of the Type 27. I'm also wondering if I should invest in Gel Batteries. I havent installed an onboard charger yet which I was planning on doing next, so might be the right time?
  16. That’s what I did. Not the prettiest, but it’s worked for 17+ years. I keep it heated as it’s my workshop. Works great. Dont use Beadboard, only SM.
  17. Congrats, looks great! Would love to see more pics. I bought a roll of Nautolex at this place in Barrie. http://www.jtsoutdoorfabrics.com/ great selection, can get virtually any colour outdoor marine fabrics carpet vinyls etc. And accessories special tools etc. Lots of samples to look at I thought pricing was reasonable.
  18. I think we’re done camping and especially this year with the mayhem about to ensue trying to book provincial parks if they even open for regular camping. So my wife and I are looking for ideas on where we can go fishing for a weekend and simply stay in a motel or lodge for one or two nights. (Even this may not be possible) Her criteria; motel accommodations that are decent enough where you don’t feel you have to sleep on the dresser, or on top of the covers with your clothes and shoes on and semi decent restaurant(s) in the area. my criteria; somewhat close to quieter, productive lakes with a boat launch and parking (public or paid access) We’re in the Guelph Waterloo area, so prefer not to go too far past Sudbury, North Bay or Beyond Ottawa. Open to the Bruce Peninsula also. No big water please Pm me if you want to keep your suggestions quiet. Thanks in advance.
  19. Ouch, forgot it was down huh? I've done it..fortunately caught it in time
  20. But both motors would not be used at the same time, can they really use that? Many people dont know what pounds of thrust equates to in HP, so I cant see how that could be reasonably applied.
  21. I've notced that too. But I've never seen a line at BPS either. Might be just the times I've been, but it also makes me wonder if BPS and Cabela's are suffering too. Surely BPS' overhead has to be as high if not more?
  22. I believe you are right. Under 9.9hp, no hull #'s required. But you will need a powerboat operators card.
  23. Many jobs from Walmart gone, but gone elsewhere. I don't think people trust Walmart for automotive service or auto products. They’re a step down from C.T. The demand for these services didn’t change. People just go elsewhere for it. And I’m all for it if Wallymart loses business to local shops, dealers or Canadian Tire. The way I see it anyway. YMMV
  24. I think the era of shopping malls, big box stores and what not maybe coming to an end. This might be the shift into online ordering and robotic deliveries.
