I wish I had a place to go up to. Of course I’d do my part to bring everything with me instead of shop in town. I’d be in my truck, on my property or on the lake...no human to human contact required, and if so, no harm in talking to passing boaters. This covid thing is getting to be too much. Life can resume with precautions.

Hey guys, I’m starting to procure the parts I need for my fishing boat rebuild. Not exactly the right season to start it, however the floor is toast and I don’t think I can wait one more year. I just priced out a bunch of Springfield Marine seats bases and pedestals. Boy is their stuff ever pricey!! I’m not married to their system and wondering if there’s other good, readily available systems to go with. I was considering their 2-3/8” taper-lock line because I can clean out the sockets easily and it does not look like a fight to install or remove the posts. Are there any other good manufacturers lines that I should check out? I need bases, seats, swivels and preferably swivel slide with locks for the passenger and drivers seat. I would like good, rugged quality. And I don’t mind spending a bit of money on it if the quality is superior. That being said, I do need to cost compare as there’s much more to do on this project than just seating, so if I can save some money for the other goodies I’d be a happy camper. thanks in advance

Fair price for lawn maintenance.

I hired a a guy to slit seed, feed and weed control last year. $700ish for 100 x 200 this year is fertilize and weed control only spring and fall for $380. I know it’s not cutting and trimming but I thought it might help you compare if you are looking into those services also as part of your Maintenace plan. Would a small riding mower be any help either of you? There’s cordless trimmers and mowers now too if gas powered equipment is part of the difficulty in maintaining it yourselves. I bought a cordless mower. It’s quiet, lightweight and will do my lot with a charge in between. (By the time I finish a halftime beer, it’s ready to go again. I’m buying a 2nd battery this year...beer is getting expensive) What about asking around your area to see if there’s students looking for work? Advertise on the JIJ or check to see if anyone is offering grass cutting services? -

First place I searched. Came up in the list but that was it. Maybe they pulled it. I'll look again. I was watching a really good documentary on The Eagles and they pulled it before I could finish...that was a bummer -

I’ve seen a few episodes of this on YouTube. Pretty messed up but funny. i can’t find it on Netflix, prime or cinema. Anyone know where I’d find the series? -

Funny clip. I never noticed before I think that charger lost more hubcaps than it came with too And who the hell puts hubcaps on a 68 Charger RT?? Don’t want that to look too sporty? -

Am I using the wrong terminology? (“Assault rifle”)

Happened to me as a kid up at my grandparents cottage. I stepped on a hollow log that disintegrated. Was horrible. -
I’m not a gun owner, but if I lived in the bush, especially remote areas, I’d want hunting rifles that had a small magazine or shotguns that held more than 2 cartridges. Out in big bear country I’d want a large caliber handgun on my chest. It would be all about securing food and protecting me from large predators. Truth be told, I had no idea assault rifles were even legal in Canada. I don’t feel the need to own one, therefore banning them makes no difference to me. But I do see the concern in government removing our rights.

So how are we going to launch or boats?
Hack_Fisherman replied to captpierre's topic in General Discussion
I heard that Premier Ford has allowed marinas to start preparing for the season. I hope that means public launches are next -
Can somebody dumb it down for A non-gun owner? Are handguns banned or just assault rifles? What about rifles that have a magazine or shotguns that will carry certain amount of cartridges. I had a look at the list but I really don’t know what those models are and what much of it means

Got any photos of what you’re after? $1300 won’t sound steep if you price custom unless you are paying cash for a side job.

What did you do with your boat today.

Great, thanks a million Iron! I agree that electronics today don’t last. My old Nikko receiver from the early 80’s finally died so I sought out an old 1972 pioneer SX to use. It sounds so much better. Richer. It even has L&R tone controls. Im eyeing up a helix sonar. I hope it lasts like my old humminbird portable. Still ticking almost 15 years later -

Hey Iron, what are the odds I could ask you are the dimensions of your splash well? Length x width x depth I love what you’ve got here. I’m wondering if I can do something similar, albeit in a more compact version thanks -

Thanks, it’s a 70’s starcraft supersport your basic early aluminum bowrider. Convertibility as what I like about all the modern boats. Family boat or a well rounded for fishing. Mrs. Admiral likes the sleeper seats. But I’m pretty sure that the swivel seats will stay in at 90% of the time while the sleepers get tripped over in the garage... eventually to find themselves on Kijiji. -

Good to know about its drawbacks. I’ll have to watch for that and take special care and doing over the edge wraps. I’ll probably make aluminum flanges to wrap the perimeter of hatch openings. I like the easy clean feature -

That’s a great looking boat. If I could have my time back I would have held out for an 18’ over the 16’ I have. I did the transom and rear floor under the SW last year. I’m keeping it retro looking with blue on white scheme I’m putting seat socket bases under the sleeper seats and making the sleeper seats pull out with hidden hardware. Reworking the bow area with storage lockers under seat pads and a drop in casting deck. Hinged compartments in bow that use space under dash. Probably rod locker in floor Eventually I’ll ditch the big splash well tub for smaller centre tub and 2 jump seats or steps to get over the back. I want it to be a retro family boat that quickly converts to a more serious fishing boat that has a lot of the goodies that more modern boats have. Eventually I want an Etec on it. Saving my pocket change... -

Yeah. But it might be the right time to do my floors. I bought the Nautolex and seats last year. I need swivel seat bases, plywood and styrofoam SM. And some hinges & recessed latches for compartments. I’m up Updating a 70’s Starcraft Supersport to a more fishing oriented boat. And if I get it done and still no launches open, I’ll sit in it, drink beer and practice casting on the lawn. Your cover peeps sound like a good go to. Might be worth the drive. I want a good winter/travel cover. The mooring covers I have don’t last long at 90kmh -
Or bring back the 9.9 4strokes

I love the contests actually, but I can’t use this motor so I’m out. I wish they’d give away a handful of 50+ HP etecs or 4 strokes

I missed this before. Very cool link
