  12. Ok, so this is just my second season that i am amped to go ice fishing. There were lots of questions that I had last season, but damned if I can remember them this season. So, I will start this thread with safety suggestions for some of the new people here this year that may be wondering about trying ice fishing too. Please add safety tips and suggestions for the newbies for equipment and techniques as you see fit. Here is the first suggestion PLEASE DO NOT HI JACK this thread and derail it in to side conversations. This topic might be common sense for some and not so common sense for others. Thanks Splashopper

  16. Ok, so with the crazy hikes in electricity prices the last two years, I have been thinking about using the three oil filled electric heaters that I brought home from the trailer I no longer have. We have electric baseboard heaters and do our best to keep them turned down as low as possible during the day when we are not here and to comfortable in the rooms we use at night time. Are there any OFC'ers here who have tested the difference in cost of running these two types of heaters in their homes or cottages. My gut says, we could turn the heat way down on the base boards and use one of the oil filled units in the TV room at night and if we are real ambitious, walk it upstairs to the bedroom it is needed in thereafter. All the caulking and weather stripping is in good condition around the doors and windows. I am also considering doing the plastic window wrap on the north side of the townhouse as well. Any thoughts and especially Experience and Knowledge of this is appreciated. Thanks Splashhopper

  20. Hey Simom: I finally get out for work this am, pull out of the Timmies that I always go to, head up the street and THERE HE IS .... The grader dude This time I pulled up down the street where he was headed down. Got out of the van and put my "stop signal" out to him... He is trying to wave me off and probably thinking I was a little I lean back in to the van and come out with an EXTRA LARGE DOUBLE DOUBLE Timmies.... He gives me the and stops... I gratefully climb the ladder to his cab and hand it over and thank him for getting me out yesterday. A few minutes later, he called the number on my van and says: "Hey, I was dieing for a coffee" ! How cool was that!
