Those tables that used to have the aluminum band around the edge..... got my pops right across the belly while playing cards with his pilot buddies at the Perth airport... back in the day. Lit his belt buckle up a little too. Electricity that close to the nads... exciting stuff. Don't mess with Zeus people... he'll throw a bolt in your Cheerio bowl some morning and kill ya dead.

Thanks Garry.... for nuthin'. lol. I like the UFO stuff better than that intelligent "sounding" response, which will be discredited because it's not very fun. Probably someone was up on the moon looking down at ya Dan and they flipped a big lunar booger at ya. Lucky the atmosphere burned it up before it got ya in the eye and gave ya some crazy space conjunctivitis.

Casting for Chinook to catching mudsharks in BC
Moosebunk replied to scuro's topic in General Discussion
Ahhhhh. You gotta admit, Leslie was quite the trooper for the most part. It would have been great seeing her fight her first chinook. Many of our wonderful wives have certain things that frighten them... with Bren it's traveling big water and rapids, but wildlife not so much. With Leslie I could see how grizzly thoughts and sharp talons might be a bit stressing. lol. Tell her I say she's a city girl but with a big heart for trying to keep ya happy. She's smiling in the pics we see here.... next year back to the comforts of Kesagami for the both of yas though...???????? Area looks awesome Chris... the Terrace area mostly. Some great water ya took a crack at. Good fishing. -
Great report TJ. Tanker perch for sure. For them trouts try a willowleaf about a foot above a hook and a worm and just drag it around real real real real real slow along steep shoreline points, deep structures and deep weededges, or any holes around the ole beaver lodge.

Planning a Alberta/BC RV trip with kids.
Moosebunk replied to wuchikubo's topic in General Discussion
"I can only extend the trip to Sept 1st, as the 2nd is the first day of school for the kids." I'd pull my kids out of elementary school for 3 weeks for a trip like this with them. Seriously, if you extend your time to a realistic 3 weeks that allows you to actually stop and take a pi$$ now and then, and check out a site or two, well... this in my opinion is every bit as much or more of a learning experience than what they'll get out of a few missed days at school. It's funny, I find so many parents locked into the mindset that if their kids miss a little school that their whole precious little worlds will fall apart and they'll forever be trying to catch up. It's bullocks... the parents and kids actually lose out because of missed opportunity. So it's the first day of school... they'll be about 11 or 12 years of first days of school. March Break, Summer Break, Christmas Break... None of them are any break at all for the parent. Take your vacation Hearingfish. Take as much of it as you can, make as much out of it as you can. Show your kids that mom and dad can teach them a thing or two about the big world as well. Don't stress yourself out with a tight 2 week trip that you may only ever get one chance in your life to do. Be wise about this. And for God's Sake... don't just drive Canada if you can help it. My folks are near 60 now and they both just returned from a 3000 mile southern/eastern road trip on the Goldwing. With two weeks they wished they had more time because of not only all the sites, but all the great folks they met in the U.S. while there. Just my ...... $0.03 -
Soft Tissue Injury. My bet is no break. Even if it was broken it could heal just fine without a cast. I've broken my left 4th and 5th knuckles 3 times in my life and an index finger. 2 of 4 times casted. Made no difference either way, just be careful for awhile with it. And yes, after the last break I went fly fishing for 4 days in Quebec and it did hurt using the hand to cast with so I wore a splint when it got real sore. You "could" do the same. disclaimer... this is by no means what you should do. You should make your own choice or see an MD.

Who hasn't been busted for drugs... C'mon. At 38 he should have grown up a wee bit by now though. That cocaine is such a gateway drug anyway... his age you'd think he'd have graduated to something more hardcore.

Couple questions.... Is the finger swollen or just bruised??? Does it hurt constantly, or only when you try to move it? Is the fingertip numb or feel like pins and needles? Is there any deformity? With your finger, how well can you push against and pull a finger on the other hand? Which part of the finger is injured?... from finger tip to knuckle (3rd joint) you have two other joints. First at tip, second at middle, then the "them's fighting words" 3rd knuckle, which is the bad one??? When you move your finger, do you hear or feel crepitus (something grinding)??? When you initially hurt your finger did you hear or feel anything snap? (not totally useful in determining one way or another) Is your pain better, worse or the same since about an hour after you first injured your finger?

Family Cottage Trip (and another phenominal back lake fished)
Moosebunk replied to solopaddler's topic in General Discussion
If I go Mike it'll be customized. Would like 3 days around Hawley Lake to play with lakers and pike, then leave on a leisurely 9 day float down the river after receiving a thorough intinerary of camp and fishing spots from my Peawanuck friends. Why stay only 7 when you're paying for the pick-up and drop-off all the same. -
Family Cottage Trip (and another phenominal back lake fished)
Moosebunk replied to solopaddler's topic in General Discussion
Well, I was trying to remember where Larder Lake and the big fish was... then I think I confused myself with some roadside fish in Martin River. you mentioned the big fish is around North Bay... then your launch was about 15 minutes from the big fish. I thought your cottage was up in bum-fudge nowhere Quebec... and it is... around that Rouyin Gouin Slouin Place north of New Lisk. Just seemed to get the wires crossed. Sutton next year? -
Singapore... Tuktoyuktuk??? Ahhhh, PEI.

The beginning confused me Mike. Just how many cottages do you have? Anyway dood, another splendid time away for ya, and with the family too. Great report. -
It started as time away with friends. It later became time away from work. Now it's needed and time well spent no matter why I do it. I love a good Chess game with the fishies too, and I play to win every time.

Your boys smile in the pic with you... slight. Your boys smile with Fishin' Devils daughter... intense. The next day your boy spending quality time in the rain at the end of the dock with his new chick...... classic. Your boy ain't gonna be a boy for too much longer. lol. -
Always nice toaking a one hour stumble into an honey hole.

U.S. Economy and it's impact on Canada's Lodges

Quote of the day right there. Two outfitters I hold in high regard have taken a drop. Trend continues some outfitters will either give more for less to draw business, or, ask more for the same, either way to make ends meet. Smart shopping will be key. I had an Athabasca Lake Outfitter offer me $1000.00 off for 1 week's guided fishing, all inclusive meals and flight into the remote location. I had an Ungava outfitter offer me $1200.00 off for a late booking. Both places highly priced already but that's because of all that they encompass with their packages in very remote locales. Last years BC trip through smart planning I was able to get our group about $1500 off the regular price. Next year, after some places give their heads a shake and assess their outcomes from 2008, that's when people should be asking for better than the regular price. If they can't or won't, be ready to move on down the list. Do your homework, push for the deals, and better yet, travel in a group to save money getting there, and at the same time use that group as a bartering chip with the outfitter. One thing from looking at outfitters endlessly while online...... THERE ARE TONNES AND TONNES OF THEM. They're going to have to compete harder if many Yanks won't cross the border and Canucks won't fill the tank for the drive. Personally, my appetite to travel and fish is cause for endless searching and probing for the next deal in the best of places. If it's affordable to you and it's your passion, don't let dung get in the way... next thing ya know you're 70 with a pacemaker and a to-do list ya never got started on. -
Dang Economy... Dang Planet. I'm two steps away guys from moving to Mars. Don't push it. Problem with tomorrows big questionable worries is that it takes away from living today. Booming or crashing, guess I'll deal with it then.

They're much like the Izumi series rods. At least the one I have. I won one in an online photoderby thingy once. It's OK... served me OK. I like having it around, it's a 6'6" medium spinning rod and it does feel much like my old Izumi rod of the same. That old rod just bagged me 10 pike over 40 inches while I ran 30lb braid on a Symetre reel so I think it'll work for ya in a pinch dood.
-
You'll find more than a few folks who believe 40 inch pike to be 20 pounders.... when the average is about 16. It's not unheard of for a long skinny fish of 43 to be around the 16 mark either. I wouldn't be put off with either number for your PB... 43 inches is a great fish no matter what. You must have made it into Magiskan cause I'm pretty certain I recognize one of the photos as being the end of that lake where you'd come in. Mikwam is a pretty great little corner of the Cochrane District. Scenic. Thanks for the report. Ya see many sturgeon on the trip or no???

89 Dodge Shadow I think it was. Only took me about 6 months before I blew it up. Really blew it up.
