Fine fish Larry. Enjoyed the pics. Good luck in 09.

A stellar season I'm sure you'll repeat in 09. Thanks for the report.

A great season Raf. Good luck in the 09.

I got one. I didn't know. It's what I asked for. It's understood they're great for warming hands and, sometimes I need a heater just to keep the Coleman stove regulator a little warmer to cook when it drops below -20C or so. Told that a couple of them in a tent can warm it up a little before sleep. Thing is, wouldn't much consider being outside in any winter situation and having to rely on a heater for warmth. That's what good boots and coats are for.

Well wishes for the New Year gang. My your lines be tight and your fish be monsters.

Bows 793, 794 and 795 of 2008. lol.

I thought you were pretty convincing TJ. Bren and I will consider some shoes for the future. They look great, she likes the Ojibwe, me maybe the Alaskans. It's possible we will have more use for them once moving south. Thanks for posting that Roy.

Spoiled me rotten this year I did... and for good reason too. Come along with me and take a wee trip down 2008's memory lane. I had halfways typed a solid, funny and factual report when the wrong click of a button lost the whole masterpiece in the making. From here on in it's simply going to be fish porn with some links to the full reports. WINTER. Costa Rica. http://www.ofncommunity.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=14858 Moose River. http://www.ofncommunity.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=16246 Kesagami. http://www.ofncommunity.com/forums/index.p...mp;#entry178493 Wahoo... 50lb-ish. Sleek and fast. 400+ lb. marlin. The most unbelievable and immense adrenaline rush. The colossal power and lightning speed humbled me, crumbled me and devestated my psyche. Outclassed anything I have ever fought, by a landslide. And the best pic we could get in all the chaos... Bren's mahi mahi. A new specie for me, a first ling. A collection of toothies from March. SPRING. North French River 1. http://www.ofncommunity.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=19590 North French River 2. http://www.ofncommunity.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=20152 Moose & Cheepas Rivers. http://www.ofncommunity.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=20376 Big walter of the spring. Couple of searun specks... A Moose River PB... SUMMER. Attawapiskat River. http://www.ofncommunity.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=21455 Great Bear Lake & Tree River. http://www.ofncommunity.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=23546 Lake Nipigon. http://www.ofncommunity.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=23423 A long awaited return to an old friend while accompanied by a group of Buddies made for a fantastic start to the sunny season. First some summer walleye... ... and now a few snotty Esox. Greatest fishing trip of my life came in August. Bren joined me for a trip to the arctic... the real arctic, not the one we live in already. We'll start with the tanker lakers. But my favorite fish of the year, and the one's I've dreamt about for some time now... the awesome arctic char. Best not forget this one and only catch too. Summer finished off with a road trip across the province to Lake Nipigon. Friends, fish and scenery made this the perfect first time experience surely to be repeated in the future. Brookies were the quarry... di-zang good ones too. A surprise pike made an appearance too. AUTUMN. Moose River 1. http://www.ofncommunity.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=23916 Moose River 2. http://www.ofncommunity.com/forums/index.p...&hl=cheepas Coming off the great summer fishing and the momentum built, being met by the toughest fall home river and weather conditions I have yet to encounter made for some rather hard fishing. Adapted best that I could by fishing whatever was available. THE BREAKDOWN YO Winter was wicked cold at home but awesome overall. Spring was a mess... that somehow worked out. Summer was in an essence my year. Unforgettable trips. Autumn was a kick square in the nads for fishing, but good times. THE JOURNAL. 1. Days Fishing. 56. (67-2007, 62-2006, 67-2005, 50-2004, 33-2003, 38-2002) Had the spring and fall planned dates worked out better this year... who knows. 2. Days Fishing. ice - 9, home - 33, away- 23, with family - 18. Skunks - 8 ( dang ) 3. Hours Fishing. 266. Average per outing 4.75 (par with last 4 years) 4. Average catch per outing - 8.07. (6.52-2007, 5.34-2006, 5.06-2005, 3.32-2004, 3.18-2003, 2.95-2002) 5. Fish Totals: 452..... 182 Pike & 182 Walleye (weird), 30 lakers, 12 brookies, 7 arctic char and 39 other. 6. Fish Kept (family): 87 total - (par with previous years). 66 walleye, 3 pike, 3 grayling, 3 brookies, 2 lakers, 1 mahi mahi, 1 whitefish, 1 perch, 8 fallfish. 7. New Species: marlin, wahoo, arctic char, grayling and ling. (coaster brookie and red laker were a couple sorta newbies too) 8. Goals... almost all were acheived. They had been- to increase the catch average, catch 3 new species (got 5), new PB pike and brookie (tied length, beat weight on the pike, possibly tied brookie) and more family fishing... (18 days up from 10 in 2007) 9. Goal for 2009: Forget the journal. Forget the numbers. Enjoy my days in the north. Good luck OFC'ers in the 2009.

I have a regular Battenkill and a mid arbor Bar Stock. Both great reels I don't use enough. If you're fishing bigger fish and you need extra backing then the mid arbor is likely the better choice. Otherwise, the regular Battenkill if you buy the size that suits your rod and quarry, you shouldn't have problems by not having enough line for the job.

Pike for now.............

Enjoyed that my man. Nice slideshow of the 08. Good luck next year.

http://www.ofncommunity.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=23423 I think the time was cut too short Dan. Your help made this trip for us once we arrived... I know the guys had an amazing trip and that may have not happened had we arrived there blind with no plan. (especially with those big winds all week) You didn't have to help us out, but I'm certainly glad you've taken something from those couple days. I know I did too. It was my pleasure meeting both you and Wayne. Thanks for setting things up. I think it will happen again. In the future I'd save Wayne the flying and just pick him up in Temagami on my way through from the south. Meet you at the launch...

Great little mixed bag of fish there. Good 08 dood and good luck in the 09.

My Year in Review (My Son had a great Year)
Moosebunk replied to Mike the Pike's topic in General Discussion
Couple fish species missed will make next year a little more rewarding when ya get them. Nice job Mike and company. Your boy did well and I like the new ride for sure. Good choice. -
Kinda blew my milt all over the screen here Mike. Some great fishing dood. You're a lucky fella to fish so many world class fisheries... I'd maybe know. The steelhead reports are second to none. Is the Manistee your favorite 'er what? Looks like there's lots of fish and elbow room down there.

TANK MOOSE!!!

Anyone get Tennis Elbow from Musky Lure Chucking?
Moosebunk replied to Joey's topic in General Discussion
Some great responses here... exercises, insight, pathophysiology, personal experience... I like this thread, it's a good one Joey. My right forearm, left shoulder and right knee are my weak spots... and like anyone we all have chinks in the armor that our lifestyles sometimes exploit. One of the best things you can do is reinforce by strengthening the surrounding structures and prepare the weak spots for future use through active range of motion excercise and stretching............................... you know where I'm going with this..? -
Is there anything you can't catch Mike??? lol.
