I'd probably be laying on the bottom of the boat crying (after many choice words). Knowing you Lew ... you'll go back and get her the next time.

Great meeting up with you Glen and having a few chats, really enjoyed that. Maybe we can hook up next year for a little time on the water. (I'll bring my GPS too )

Great reports folks and it was greater meeting the two of you.

One lousy beer and I got caught by the camera. I knew that one was coming. Great to meet you folks this year and I'm already laying the plans for coming back next year. Give my best to Chuck as he returns to work. Hope everything goes well.

Snagmaster. Lucky Strike camp is maybe 10 minutes north of Lakair on Route 64. Maybe 1/2 hour from where Rt. 64 turns off 69. I plan on attending the OFC get-together again next year and, coming that far, I usually spend two weeks in that area. Just before arriving at Lakair this year, I went on up to Lucky Strike for a quick look around, as I am also considering that camp for my second week next year. I have never stayed at the camp, but it does look pretty nice there and the cabins seem to be in good shape. They gave me a map of the area during my visit and marked a couple problem areas (rocks), which aren't that many. Overall, the waterway appears to be clear in the main channel areas. I'm sure the owners will fix you up with a map and point you in the right direction. There was one member who responded to a previous post of mine indicating he caught his PB musky on the south side of musky island, just out from the camp. They launch and pull the boat for you and they have a very nice (and large) fish cleaning hut. I'll be interested in your report when you get back. Let me know what you think of the place and what you think of the fishing opportunities there.

Give Art and Joe a big howdy for me.

Hey Tinman: Never fished from Len's Cove, but my father did a time or two. However, I do fish the area between the Lower Rideau Lake and the Big Rideau about 1/2 hour or so north of where you will be. I think you will be in Portland and I'll be on up Route 15 towards Smiths Falls. We turn off Rt. 15, onto Route 1, which heads over to Perth. We actaully stay in Rideau Ferry. We use small crankbaits and spinnerbaits along the shore line and have some success with bass. But, you'll always get a hammerhandle here and there. Primarily we Florida or Wacky rig a 6" worm on a 3/0 offset hook and just wind-drift over the weed-beds and end up with some very respectable fish. This time of year the cabbage beds should be well in place and you should not have any problem finding some. Where there is enough breeze to move the boat, that's how we fish. Seems they like a different color each time out. Watermelon and Junebug have been good producers for us. I picked up some tubes over the past few weeks and may give them a try as well. Now, there is some great top-water action there as well over these heavy weed-beds. Get out very early in the morning and just before sunset, throw on a top-water, and let the fun begin. We try to do this as often as we can. Seeing these big girls exploode on topwaters is a real rush. Hope this helps in some way. Two weeks from this very moment, I'll be on the water again in Rideau Ferry. Don't forget to post some pics and a report when you get back ... I'll be doing the same. Rich

Well, I may as well add my loonie to the board. There were a lot of firsts for me on this trip and I'll start with those. First Trip to Lakair. First meeting of another OFC'r. First attempt using a baitcaster. (Sorry Muskystud, it didn't take long to clean out the bird's nest. First Walleye caught. First time fishing with other OFC'rs. These are all firsts for me and who can say thay had that many 'firsts' all within a week. This was indeed a great week for me and I am already starting the planning to come back next year with the better half. Coming up alone, no boat, not knowing anyone, never camping in my life .... I just wasn't sure what to expect. HOWEVER, all that wondering passed very quickly, the minute I got there. All you folks are truely first-class and the best You folks just have a way of making a newcomer feell welcome and part of the group. I had a fantastic time and, without a doubt, the best fishing trip ever (and I mean that). I tried to meet as many of you as I could, spent some time talking, getting to know each other ... that was priceless. For all of you that took me out on the water ... THANK YOU - I ENJOYED EVERY MINUTE OF IT. Although I didn't catch a lot of fish, to me, that really doesn't matter. It was getting to know you and the opportunity for you to know who I was, and our time together meant the most. I see there are a lot of reports coming out now and a lot of pics. I tried to pick out a few different ones to share. SEE YOU NEXT YEAR .... Largest Pike at 28 1/2 inches. Second Walleye ... first one was too small to photograph. Just a couple of the OFC shore lunch entrees. That was a great idea and hope that can become a tradition. I think we had about 24 OFC'rs there. Great time. NEXT TIME ... DON'T FORGET THE BEER !!!! Shore lunch gathering. Kevin cooking up the Friday meal. Great job Kevin !!! Awesome price table. TJ cooking up the catch. First price for being the most upset with catching no pike during the tourney ... good thing I wasn't. I still think we should have passed it around for everyone to make a contribution. I think the creator broke the mold after making this. Beautiful county that I just love.

Glad you made it home save and sound. Took me about 10 hours for the trop home. Great to meet both you guys and again and to get out with Art for a little bit of fishing. Picked up some great tips and info. Oh yeah .... thanks again for the hat
