  1. That is one great pack of prizes ... hope you got room for it all. Congrats
  2. OK ... so I'm late and you're already on the road. Anyway, looking forward to meeting you at Lakair and will pray for safe travels for all who are going.
  3. I hear ya little angler. I too used Spider Wire exclusively for my bass fishing for years. Then, a couple years ago, I must have bought a bad batch. I had the same problems you mentioned with the line breaking, even just tying the knots. Pulled it all off and, coincidently as Mike said, switched over to Stren Super braid. So far, I like it and have not had any problems. Presently using 12# or 14#, depending on how thick the slop is. For pike and musky, I have been using 80# power pro with a 2' or 3' Flouro leader. On the other hand, my father uses Fireline on most of his rods, and he likes it. Good luck !
  4. Sounds like someone really kicked a** on that trip. Anxious to see your pics.
  5. Thone are some beautiful pike. Bet they put up a wee bit of a fight. Thanks for sharing your trip.
  6. I may even recognze a face or two in there ... might even be yours Roy.
  7. I saw something to that effect ... .thought they were kidding. What do I know
  8. It really depends on the trip 1). July - Bass 2). September - Pike and Musky Lakair .... depends on the boat and who's in it I suppose.
  9. Me too ... I just hope I have something to report.
  10. Never fished Glendaler or Prince Galitzen. I think my motor is a little too big from what I hear. Yeah, there some great places around, but honestly, I do far more fishing in Ontario that I do here in the states. Just moved to my current town last year and my neighbor, and his buddies, do a lot of fishing. As soon as I get back from Lakair, we're gonna team up and hit some local spots. Raystown Lake is big attraction and a very good striper lake. It seems Raystown is like a zoo on the week-ends, I rarely go over any more. Just gotta force myself to make some time and take advantage of what I have in the area.
  11. Yup ... been going to the show for several years now. Actually, I live about 2 hours west of there, in Blair County. I mainly go to cure some cabin fever, check out the Ontario Fishing Lodges, pick up some fishing equipment, look at the boats, etc. Purchased my very first boat there (Tracker) ... from a local Harrisburg area dealership. The owners of the lodge we visit in July, on the Rideau system, help at the Eastern Ontario Tourism booth. So, this gives us a chance to visit and catch up on the news.
  12. I would really love to see the Northern Lights in person. FANTASTIC. APpreciate you sharing them with us.
  13. Attaboy Weeds. I remember how excited I was when I caught my first one a couple years ago. Daggone it ... I'm still waiting to catch my second one. Congrats for your first ski ! Better get that camera in operation for your next cast ... ya just never know.
  14. Nah ... it be clouds. Cool satellite image.
  15. Great intro Maida ... welcome to OFC. Oh yeah ... we love bass pics too.
  16. Attaboy Justin. Congrats to mom and dad. Be sure to sign him up as soon as he can type.
  17. Attaboy Marc. Yeah .. let's see a few of those scale busters this year.
  18. Welcome aboard malonzi. This is a great site and its a wonder you haven't run into us before. Lots and lots and lots of grteat folks on here.
  19. Probably my best pike were caught on spinnernaits (about 1 oz or so) with a 5-6 inch twister tail as a little extra incentive. Last year, on the French, I caught a very respectable pike on a shallow invader - also raised a couple muskies with it as well. I'll have these baits with me at Lakair as well. Great post ... I don't think I have enough in my wallet for this Lakiair thing to buy a pack of hooks. Only 5 more sleeps ... this must be what a little kid feels like waiting for Santa Clause.
  20. FOTB. Yes - take lots of pics. I'm heading to Wolseley Bay the last week of September. Lots of great potential spots, but I have yet to land a ski from there in three trips. My wife had a very nice ski on two years ago, but she never made it to the boat. This year is it !!!!!
  21. Beauty of a report Jen. Something very nice to wake up to.
  22. Love those action shots .... must have been great. Congrats on the very nice ski.
  23. It will be a great day for ya ... especially when that magical moment arrives. Hope have have a big enough boat for all those fisherman. Looking forward to the pics. All my best !
  24. Well then ... I'll offer my congrats to you DK. Hope all goes well and we'll be waiting for another keeper pic. With all these new ones being born, TJ will have to start some type of baby contest.
  25. Attaboy John. Congrats to the entire family and hope everyone is doing great. Just remember ... ya still have to clean the keepers.
