Dude. All I am saying is a lot of people watch Survivorman and other shows of that nature for an hour a week and think 'oh I can do that'. As for what I consider myself...able to get by if needed. As a kid my Grandfather and I would hike to their old logging shacks during the summer break from school. We'd hunt, fish, trap, snare and gather our food. We'd be gone for a few days to a month. With no phone, t.v. or radio. Just a deck of cards and a cribbage board. As I got older and my Grandfather got weaker he couldn't do it anymore. I tried many different friends but no one could do it for more than two days except one guy. So from then up untill I moved here to Ontario I'd go out alone or with my friend every chance we got. Just a backpack with basic gear. Knife, line and few hooks, snare wire, hatchet, magnesium stick, rope, watch, and a first-aid kit wich was not opened if not desperatly needed for first-aid. The longest I've been out alone was 5 weeks. Me and my buddy was almost 9 weeks. (no brokeback jokes please...lol). Also we never had a tent, we made our own shelters. And of course I stand when I type on the forum. Too damned exciting here to sit. Curt

Anyone ever eaten kangaroo? I went to the Black Angus meat shop at Lakeshore/Cawthra in Mississauga on Friday to buy some steak. Got looking in the freezers and came across kangaroo sausage. They had regular and some with jalapeno. I bought a pack of the regular ones. Threw them on the BBQ last night. I guess I should have asked the butcher how to cook them cause I dried them out a little. But none the less they were awesome. Will get more in the future that's for sure. Curt

I bought an old, old, 15.5' aluminum last year and I am wondering the same. Mine has no sticker/plate for capacity, hp, etc. It had a plywood transom now so it may have been there. How do I go about this the right way to get it registered. p.m.s welcomed Curt

I'f they are farmed then they are raised for human consumption and they weren't taken from our waters. We would not have had a chance to catch any of those fish anyway. No matter what species. Curt

Thank you but, The goal of Bill 101 was to ensure that recreational snowmobilers pay their way. However, it also recognized that snowmobile trails on Crown Land are sometimes used for commercial purposes, so limited trail permit exemptions were allowed, applicable "only for Prescribed OFSC Trails on Crown land". These exemptions are for specified workers while engaged in their work and able to prove it with appropriate documents. They include bait harvesters; "commercial fish harvesters"; trappers; prospectors; forest workers; utility companies and mining or exploration companies. A very limited exemption on Crown land only is also available to specific anglers and hunters who can prove that they are using a snowmobile while engaged in their sport, but only when the OFSC trail on Crown land is the only or safest access route from the closest road. It is very restricted. Curt

I love armchair survivalists. "I can do it, I can do it" meanwhile they can't function without their Timmies or Starbucks. Now I know there are some of us here who have spent significant periods of time in the bush. All I'm trying to say is it's not as easy as one would think.

Not that I don't believe you guys, but where can I find this in writing?

You bass thumpers need to relax. I'd hate to see the turmoil if someone started to sell farmed musky.

If you're comming across the QEW there's a place on the SE corner of Southdown Rd. and Royal Windsor. It's called Daylight Grill. It's in the Canadian Tire plaza. Before 10:00am breakfast is 3.99. 3 eggs, 4 bacon or sausage or ham. toast, and real potato homefries. Of course they charge 1.99 for unlimited coffee but total comes to less than 7 bucks. I go there at least one day a week. Awesome food. And if you like omlettes....5 eggs!!! Curt

Did that for trout in Newfoundland all the time. Where I come from worms were hard to come by. Turn over a few rocks to find a worm, bug, or anything that a trout would bite. Sometimes we had to use buds from a nearby tree. The trick was to get the first one. After that it was eyeballs and guts the rest of the day. And mighty successful I might add. Curt

Also, Has anyone experienced a reel going stiff in cold weather? When I brought them in from the car in the morning the were pretty stiff. After they warmed up they were fine. I'm thinking probably the type of oil/grease used inside. No matter as I only intend to use them in the summer. A warm weather reel.lol.

Oh, I agree. Just that I was at the concert and I'd rather be there any day than the fishing show. -

I don't think you can put the AC/DC show and the Fishing show in the same category. Curt
