Got the call today from Sick Kids. He's scheduled for August 4th. Curt
-
welcome to the board
-
Well the surgery got cancelled at 4:00pm. The kid in the first surgery had complications I think and was still in the OR when we left the hospital. I pray for their family. Looks like he will be rescheduled to go sometime in the next 2 weeks. I'll keep you updated. Curt

Well the Sick Kids Hospital called yesterday to say that our youngest son Jacob's surgery has been bumped up to tomorrow. It was supposed to be Friday but I guess with some cancelations he moved up. For those of you who don't know he has double outlet right ventricle. This is a condition where the two major arteries come out of the right ventricle instead of one out the right and one out the left. He also has a rather large hole in his heart. The surgeon is hoping to be able to redirect the artery inside the heart rather than outside thus eliminating artificial conduits and reducing the chances of future surgeries. He will be six months old on Sunday. Please pray for him. Thank you my Friends, Curt, Yolanda, Alex and Jacob McDonald

Best time of Day for Grand River Smallies

i'm interested in fishing the grand for smallies. I live in acton and can get to it around Kitchener or even up past belwood. Where would be a good place to start. Thanks, Curt -
Give me a few more tries and then we'll see.

Seen on their website that they have browns, smallies, pike, and panfish. want to keep gear to minimum and keep a 2.5 year old interested. What should I target and bring for bait. Thnaks, Curt

Both Saturday and Yesterday my friend and I went fishing in a little bass pond. Lots of 1 - 2 lbers. But there are three huge hawgs cruising. The biggest being Charlie...lol. Threw everything in the tacklebox at these 3 for two days without any luck. Jigs, senkos, swimbaits, frogs poppers, spinnerbaits, spinners, spoons, cranks, jerks, bucktails, etc. only thing left i can think of is minnows. Untill...my buddy was fighting a smaller bass Charlie came up and just inhaled the guy. Only the tail left sticking out. I was like 'Holy cow' He's not an experienced bass fisher so I told him to let Charlie take it on the freespool for a bit then try to set the hook. On a 7' medium heavy spinniing rod with a decent reel it just pulled the maxed out drag. Couldn't get it to turn then he spit out the other bass. We pulled the other guy in and realized it was not a tiny guy at all. He weighed in at 1lb 14oz on the digital scale. So what size is Charlie?!!!!!. Anyhoo, later in the day both other big two did the same thing with tiny guys. They only get excited when another bass is in distress. Only other thing that they showed a lillte bit of interest in was musky lures but nothing close to a bite. Any one got any ideas of a rig or bait to entice these guys to bite? Any help would be appreciated. You can pm me if you don't want it on here. p.s. If you give me one that works there will be an invitation to come fishing in it for you...lol Thanks, Curt

Well I'm not much for writing detailed reports and It won't do justice to the the great time we had with Lloyd and his professionalism. For the most part I'll let the pics do the talking. My Saturday morning actually started Friday morning. Got home from work 6:30 Friday night and got everything ready for Saturday morning. 9:30pm work called and said asked if I could come in for a few hours. Finished work at 1am. Showered at the yard, grabbed a coffee, and drove to Whitby to meet memart. Had to be at his house for 4am. Got there at 3am. Great...nap in the car. 3:10 I hear "You want a coffee?"....dammit. After a few coffees and smokes we headed down to Port Hope. Met Lloyd and two other board members, DAKING EH2007 and Weekend Warrior. Headed out (another beauty morning). Lloyd got the rods out and it didn't take long for the first hit. Unfortunately I wasn't quick enough. oh well. First up... One of Rob's... Siesta...man that's comfy... Woke up, or got woken up, just in time to fight this beauty. We thought she was a salmon for a while by the way she just kept running and peeling. My PB 31" Couple More... And the best of all... Thanks again Lloyd of U & Me Guide Service. He knows where they are. And just an awesome guy. Hope to get out again. Curt

A mud trout is a brook trout...or is it speck, lol. that live in very, very, shallow lakes with a mud bottom. You can actually taste the mud in them.

Got home from work today to find the wife gone with the only house key we have...lol. Luckily had a rod and a few baits in the car. Went to the local lake for a try. Second cast hit this little pike on a chartruse spinnerbait. Fished around for an hour with nothing else. BTW it was mmmmm mmmmm gooooood!
