  1. Looking good!
  2. If the roof was strapped under the metal then you may get some drumming noise in a heavy rain. I placed my steel roof on top of the 1/2 plywood with a water proof wrap paper between, same noise as regular shingles. I even used same steel as siding but different colour. Easy to install, last long time, same cost or less than vertical vinyl siding.
  3. Interesting product. I used 3 feet wide 18 feet long panels on my roof, manufacturer claims it will last 50 years. I have been rebuilding my place while you are building your place.
  4. Where do you put the screws to attach the metal to the roof? My metal roof has screws on the ridges.
  5. Replacing the timing belt is not an easy DIY job on most vehicles. Get the belt on the wrong gear teeth alignment and you can damage your engine. It can cost well over $1000 to replace it on some vehicles depending on how difficult it is to get at it. I work at a dealership and see it done all the time. Get a vehicle with a timing chain if you don't want to pay for replacing the timing belt.
  6. Replacing the timing belt is an expensive repair around 120-160K, timing chains usually last the life of the vehicle.
  7. I went the Milton TSC store today to get a few 2ft 6 inch black stove pipes but no stock, wasted trip and time looking for someone to help me.
  8. Great report! We go for a week back lake canoe in bass fishing for the past 7years as well.
  9. A metal roof is the best choice but be carful working and walking on it. Even a very little amount of moisture on it will make it slippery.
  10. A young man is a fool to drink. An old man is a fool not to drink.
  11. The campground at the NW corner is gone, housing going in, no launch there any more. The only launch left is on Blue Bird road on the south side, take airport road to get there. The Blue Bird launch is not as good as the old closed launch on the west side by the factory.
  12. I went to the show Wednesday 11 to 3 pm. Agree with Kev's report. Much better location at the international Center and free parking. I did not like going downtown TO for the show. Bought a Rapala for $6. Got a given a memory stick after watching the Ron James / Big Jim fishing demo. Good way to spend the day.
  13. I have a Cradle Ride trailer for the past 12 years. The price was good and they custom built it for me at no extra charge. It has metal fenders that I can stand on. Not galvanized but the paint has held up well. The only problem I had was a wheel bearing needed replacement along with the race which I replaced myself.
  14. These days 3/8 inch plywood is used on most new house roofs GTA and south Ont which is down from 1/2 inch to save costs. Thinner plywood does not hold the shingle nail as well as 1/2 inch. I don't think anybody uses particle board on roofs but OSB is being used on new house roofs across Canada. The OSB used on roof is heavier around 1/2 to 5/8 inch thick and should hold the nail ok unless it gets wet through. Patch your roof the best you can and look at replacing it with steel or better quality shingles in the warmer weather. When the roof leaks the house deteriorates quickly.
  15. Put on a steel roof and you never have to worry about the roof again. I did my 1200 sq foot cottage roof with sheet steel myself with help for less than $3K.
  16. Wynne just announced a 4.3 cent a litre tax increase in gas and $5 more per month for natural gas home heating. This looks like a tax grab disguised to reduce green house emissions.
  17. Got a HTC 601 phone from Bell almost 2 years ago for $50 extra and it has been good. The picture quality and videos are great. Could use more than 8 gigabytes in it.
  18. If you get a nylon tent make sure the rain fly completely covers the tent, set it up in the back yard, spray the fly top and all seams with silicon water proofing.
  19. I bought a 2016 Grand Caravan low in your price range. It can tow up to 3500 lbs, good enough for my boat. It has lots of room inside for gear. After 2016 the Grand Caravan will be discontinued. I find many of the SUVs too bulky and small inside.
  20. We are talking about the bridge here, are you changing the topic?
  21. Bridge engineered in Spain and expansion joints made in China. When you go cheap you pay twice. It should have all been done in Canada, we need the jobs.
  22. A friend died a month ago from lung cancer after smoking for many years. He suffered greatly at the end. It is not worth it!
  23. I was not born in Canada but have lived here most of my life. The birth certificate I have is paper and not in English so that will not work as age ID.
  24. I turn 65 in March of 2016 and will not renew my fishing licence. Weather is too warm for ice fishing this year. What kind of government issued ID should I carry in my fishing box that will not get wet? I have an old expired drivers licence and wonder if that will do as ID. I usually don't carry my wallet with me while fishing in case it gets wet or lost.
  25. If you have a "seasonal" place the hydro rate is on peak all the time even with a smart meter. They apply a formula to my bill to wipe out any savings on off or mid peak times. My "seasonal" place is located among residential properties and Hydro One will not give me residential rates unless I prove to them I live there. Another rip off!
