  1. Or if your posts are nothing but hysterical laughter we'll give you a couple days. lol. Awsome link Fisherman, Thanks. My family used to take long excursions looking for mushrooms and a great many Polish recipies include wild mushrooms. Something I've been interested in getting back into.
  2. Give Canal Lake a try Garry, you'll find plenty of pike in there...heard they're squeking into Balsam to, bad news for the musky fishery. I did mean to try the Kawarthas for pickereyes, just because Bancroft might be too far out of the way from Brantford. Great area past Apsley, hopefully the gentleman will take you up on your suggestion, I always hold your advice in high regard.
  3. You got some great friends there rich! Grabbin' ducks in mid-flight and wading through quicksand to grab fish. lol. Look like you had a great time. Thanks for postin'. reefrunner
  4. Little lake in Barrie, last time I went was about two years back, was not too good for fishing. Only caught 1 pike all day, expensive boat rentals and black fly heaven. bent over to see the bottom and lost a pair of $300 glasses right off my nose into the drink Better to drive into the kawarthas if you can. reefrunner
  5. I was the second in the two man cabin with addy79 on that trip. Cabins were really nice and kept. The road in was pretty rough. Boats were awsome...stable and enough room for alot of gear. We went during 'ski season and I landed my PB there. Didn't really target pickereyes, although heard the populations in the area were sparse. I would recomend a jig and minnow presentation in the mouth of the straight opening up into Blackstone. Best of luck. reefrunner edit. p.s. I beleive we did get into the falls but it was midday and we didn't have any luck there. It's always worth a shot bud. I'd go back and giver another try next time.
  6. Nice report. I love the French, although as I don't go often, been pretty tough fishing fro me. I will look for that road runner tree...lol, but they all look like that up there.haha. Thanks for sharing, reefrunner
  7. Another amazing job on the river Paul. Those are some serious JUMBOS. All happy clients!
  8. If you are unsure about the set up. I picked up a Zebco UL spinning outfit from the fishing for Tyler event auction that I can pass up...as the proceeds went to charity. Free of charge. Just gotta pick it up. I'm in Mississauga. PM me if your interested. reefrunner
  9. I have a number of guesses. 1. Bad batch 2. Birdsnest and a hard throw with a heavy lure. 3. No mono backing maybe? Line could have wound around itself in the reel. 4. rough edges on the eyes of your rod might be causing slight abrasion on the line. I've been using PP for about 2 or 3 years now and would not give it up. There are alot of guys here who swear by it, with good reason. I've heard of bad batches being bought at CTC. Return it and get it from another retailer. rules to follow. Mono backing, (double) uni to uni, spool on tight.
  10. If there are alot of pike in the area, definately use a leader. You won't be shaking your fist at the water as much. Lotsa guys tie their own floros, expensive at the store. A good black wire or titanium should do ya.
  11. Haven't had much time Stoty, just blew in from Punta Cana yesterday and I'm back at my desk playing catch up. Thanks for the link...will watch with anticipation. Too bad I can't help you guys out much until mid-June, LSAT studying that I've been slacking on. I might get out for a weekend to raise some numbers. on that note, I will make up my share once that damn test is over...so help me jebus.
  12. I just came back from the Dominican Republic and saw one dude fishing the beach at night with about 30 feet of line, coke bottle bobber and a hook with some shrimp on it. Lasoo'd the rig into some reef and not one minute later brought in a silver fish. Just goes to show, can't catch if you don't try. Anything will do ya. We all started small at one point. reefrunner
  13. Mono backing on the spool. Uni to uni knot (make sure line diameter is the same or you'll have problems). Palomar kbnow to tie on leaders, lures. reefrunner
  14. Good job bud. Any entries for the tourney? reefrunner
  15. LOL. I was jus typing one up. I think I'll give #6 a shot. lol. reefrunner
  16. LOL
  17. For real dude. I can't wait to wet a line. Goin to the Dominican this coming week...too bad cuda's aren't on the tourney. AFter that I gotta go on lockdown for an exam:( Post 4 June, its open season on everything. MNR should send out an advisory. Go team 9
  18. Lookin good. Just need some scantly clad bikini models and your good to go.
  19. Mr. Eh makes a good point. St. Croix's are the nicest but at a price. The tiger's are good. Lately I've been becoming a fan of BPS brand rods. Super cheap and good quality. a good test in the store is hold the butt of the rod in one hand and have someone take hold the tip and give it a couple movements, lets you get a good feel for the kind of action in the rod. reefrunner
  20. leavin to the DOMINICAN REPUBLIC on Sunday. WOOT WOOT. Gonna go deep sea fishing one day for sure. Full report when I get back. reefrunner
  21. PowerPro all the way man. I've been a user for a couple years now and will never go back. Virtually no stretch for good hook sets and keeping pressure on the fish. Palomer knots hold. IMPORTANT: use a monobacking to cover the base of the spool. Any advantage I can give to a team member bud. Go slay 'em. reefrunner
  22. Amazing report. Wow, felft like I was there with y'all. Thanks for sharing your adventure. reefrunner
  23. Congrats. I'm sure you'll have a great time.
