  4. Nice work out there. At least you didn't wake up to rocking up against some guys shoreline. lol. Thanks for sharing.
  5. You live dangerously my friend...really, my cousin thought it was annoying that I kept the plastic on. Man am I stubborn...and cheap. lol.
  6. Nice "small" pike Garry. Thanks for sharin'. Sounds like a great time had by all.
  7. Keen eye Bill. I leave it on so my cork shaft will last longer...as bad as that sounds. hehe.
  8. Hello all, Got out on the water for the first time this year, did it ever feel good. This particular lake was shallow and the water level was down about 6-10inches, however, the weeds had not yet choked the lake...giving us a little trolling room, hehe. Target species: Pike/Walleye. Fish's diet consisted of the items set out below: .....As our diet's consisted mostly of sunflower seeds. Here I am testing out the new Abu 6501C3 I picked up over the winter with the insight from the honourable people on this board. Suffice to say, I love the reel and couldn't put it down most of the weekend. And my fishing buddy and cousin Addy79. With the cold water, the pike were finicky. We enticed them mostly with spinners and xraps. Nothing really big, on average about 24inches, with a total of 7 pike caught between us. As we were eager to coax some walleye out of the weed beds, I used some suggestions from a post I put up Friday and dropped 3inch leaches on a jig head into pockets. No walleye, just 4 dinky oos largies. Please don't get your panties in a bunch, the only and quick pic of the average largie I caught. Was released into the drink and swam away vigorously. So continuing with the tips I got here, we trolled shallow stickbaits. I used the tiger Rapala J-7 and was on fire for......Crappy!!! So no walleye ever showed it's yap to us this weekend. All 5 crappie were caught trolling for walleye with small jointed rapalas. As Team 9 has no entries for Crappy yet, Taper, chalk one 9incher up for the good guys...PM to be sent shortly. Well I got the fishing itch out, gotta hit the books hard for exams. Hope you enjoyed the report and pics came out (or I will be editting soon). Until next time... reefrunner
  9. Ha Ha ha ha. Thanks Fang
  10. Wish I could help you, but I don't know much about the species. Lots of experienced anglers here and, if not good natured, well intentioned...lol J/K Someone will chime in for ya. Don't see many reports on open water whities. Should be an excellent and informative read.
  11. Just awsome guys. Thanks so much. All these tips, honestly, I hope I can repay in some form. Until then...look for a report...and team 9 taking the lead...lol. OK now I'm getting ahead of myself. Thanks a bunch, will let y'all know how it goes. reefrunner
  12. Thanks Capt'n. I've had those hard days fishing pockets. Tough to detect hits in heavy cover. Alot of good ideas here which I shall employ tonite. Funny you should mention docks, last year my buddy was texas riggin' a worm, midday, around docks for buckets and pulled out a respectable 3 pound eye. Fluked it, but ya never know until you try.
  13. Those look nice Coach! I just picked me up some roostertails upon your inspiring posts.
  14. Just looking for a meal after a long winter. I once shared a bag of Sour Cream and Onion with a 300pounder just outside of Parry Sound. More like I he scarred me away from my bag of chips and ate it while I sat in the car. lol
  15. Thanks for the suggestions guys. I will try most of 'em. Trolling and cranks are tough because of the heavy weed cover throughout the lake. Seems like as soon as you get the lure out there it's covered already. Billy Bob makes a good point,I got some suspending tape that I might make use of. No where to get live bait on this lake besides digging up some worms. Maybe put out the minnow trap overnight. As for spinnerbaits, never caught a walleye on one because the pike get to 'em first. You guys rock, reefrunner
  16. Good day all, This weekend I will be heading up to a lake that hold Pike and Walleye. It is a shallow lake, maybe averaging 14 feet deep with weeds everywhere stopping just a few feet from the surface. In the past, I've targeted walleyes in these conditions with a small jig and white or chartruse twister tail, dropping them in pockets. I've had successes, but they were minimal. I bought some gulp leaches this past winter and will giver a go with that. Just curious, any other presentations, methods that can help me pull in some pickereyes in these conditions during primetime (morning/evening) and midday? Any help would be much appreciated and tested thoroughly. Thank you in advance, reefrunner
  17. LOL.
  18. Very impressive. Looks like a neat and tidy job. Hope it puts you on some fish, now in comfort and style.
  19. Neat. Knew some guys on here make their own rods, this post might spur a new entrepreneurial endeavor. Very cool graphics.
  20. A dang shame. I'll keep my eyes peeled in the Big Smoke, Mississauga and the drive to Orillia this weekend.
  21. Lol. I've caught some of them monsters before. Man, I wish I had some pics to post but only got my digital camera this Christmas. They'll be rolling in soon enough.
  22. WTG dave. Angels on yer' wings bud, maybe Mrs. Karma gettin back at you for the highspeed pursuit.
  23. small hook or jig head, about a foot or two off the bottom. Wait for bobber to go under or if you see it move to the side, set the hook in the opposite direction. Best of luck.
  24. No way!!! i got charged $75.00 for a half-day (can't remember the rental outfitter now, sots). I was with my GF and was the only place close enough she'd agree to. Perhaps the desk could smell the desperation and equated it with $$$. I used to fish there with my pops when I was a kid, fond memories. When I went back I was more than disappointed. Just my experience though, seems like others here had better luck than I.
  25. Beauty colours on that fish. wtg!
