  1. It's easy to dislike the Scabs when their "fans" start chanting that Bull with 13mins left in the game on Saturday to a team such as Washington no-less. It was awesome to see Washington come back on them and then see the fans turn on the team. They haven't won a game since and the "fans" walked out on them against the Leafs with 8mins left!
  2. I see Browns pick smelt off near the surface all the time, so it is definitely possible.
  3. Great story as always and I often wonder what your bad days consist of? Looking forward to the report of the second half of the day.
  4. tough one bud, hope you get it figured out by january for simcoe.
  5. Now every time I land a hen with eggs, I'm gonna think of the word "molestation".
  6. didn't actually say that they were did I? I was referring to posting a pic of an OOS fish. But hey some folks don't really care about that either.
  7. very nice! looking forward to the local fishing in December but somehow I doubt there will be numbers like that.
  8. I'm guessing from the lack of leaves on the tree that the laker was caught OOS? nice assortment of fish though.
  9. No offence FGP, but why not just keep fishing til you get one rather than posting about not getting one and opening yourself up to criticism? Niagara is a big river with a lot of fish(steelhead) and a lot of productive spots, maybe you should go try that. There's no secrets to steelheading and I've seen more helpful info thrown at you by generous folks on this board than I've seen given out to many. Your only solution is time on the water/river, not online.
  10. Provided it is a reputable maufacturer, the bearings and spool dia are all that really matter when it comes right down to it and the rest is just windowdressing. So why not go with the light one? I see the new Okuma Sheffield has an internal drag. Why? is it for beginners? So you set it in the range of a 8lb fish and hook an 18lb, what good is the drag then when you have try to set it while line is peeling out.... ouch! The old dragless model is $100 cheaper at around $230. no, I'm not an expert either.....
  11. someone should introduce the hunter to cormorants.
  12. Good stuff Richard!
  13. nice line of work there Mike, buddy, pal, friend.... Did you get a bunch of PM's on the location yet? I hope the return rate is better there than what it has been elsewhere in Ontario.
  14. timing and presentation If the bait looks edible and you put it in their face, guess what? Do that by being in the bottom foot or so of water. and when they are being real finicky, then use something slightly different than everyone else is. It may only be a change in colour or size thta gets you onto them. now I'm not Solopaddler, Dave M or Stonefly
  15. 2 weeks of repairs
  16. good advice for the $$. I bought a 13' Shimano Convergence as a backup when the old GL2 isn't limber enough. It is the entry level for Shimano's lifetime warranty rods, at just under $100. A definite workhorse but also it can be a little too heavy and rigid for my liking. Good investment until you figure out what you really want.
  17. looks like a good day all round!
  18. Smallies and steelies if all goes per plan, two rivers, one empties at Erie the other at Huron.
  19. nice tank!
  20. lol WSB Nice day on the water for sure.
  21. It rained there for the past several days, but the river levels are still well below where it should be for this time of year. That probably never stopped a few salmon from heading up. Let us know if you get out.
  22. I was driving back to Waterloo last evening after a so-so day of kayak fishing Arran Lake. Feeling that my bass itch hadn't quite been scratched, I decided to make a pit stop in my hometown where I spent many late evenings as a kid fishing topwater. After a few huge Rocky's, small smallies and a small battle with two beavers to hold my position, I was rewarded. Not the fattest I've ever caught, but 22" and what an explosion of aerials this fish put up! The card in my left hand is my OFC Team#8 Bernie's Bandits, but never showed on the flash. Richard Elliott Jr., probably has it beat anyway.
  23. had similar bad experiences with Vanish last Fall using it for steelhead leaders. I lost my first 3 fish at shore due to line breaks; the first two came at the knot making me think my reliable hook knots weren't so reliable, then the next came half way between the the hook and the swivel. I knew it wasn't from knicks in the line, so I just switched back to Rio fluoro in the same lb test and my troubles ended. I think they named it "vanish" after seeing their fish swim away before landing them.
  24. a true Ontario tyee you caught Tony. Congrats on the tourney.
  25. very nice hawg largie you caught there Mike and excellent recount of the event. Video and pictures tell it all without even having to add the commentary.
