  1. LOL!! The most frustrating thing about not making the playoffs is not making it by one point. Why can't the Leafs tank it for good draft picks like the Sens did for umpteen years? I don't really agree with you on the rivalry thing. It's somewhat media-drivin "battle of Ontario" stuff. I see Toronto-Buffalo as more of a rivalry in recent times than Toronto-Ottawa. Buffalo has become our "Detroit" due to scheduling but Ottawa hasn't toppled the Habs in terms of true rivalry. The games that really spark my interest are Toronto vs. Buffalo, Philly, Montreal and Boston (until last year when we played them 17 times in three weeks). I think Toronto-Ottawa matches mean more to Sens fans than it does to Leaf fans. Just my opinion. -Brian
  2. Congrats to your daughter for graduating! Did you lose a bet and have to wear that tie? I'll see you on the 19th, we're in cabin 9.... "hey, keep the noise down over there!" -Brian
  3. Inaccuracies, name calling, bitterness... this is a fishing forum, not the House of Commons. When will Sens fans realize that they are insignificant? Leaf fans have more to entertain themselves than fan bashing. You should find a hobby... or some therapy.
  4. You can't talk to a Sens fan about anything for five minutes without them obsessing about and bashing the Leafs. It's quite sad yet amusing at the same time. It's an inferiority complex and thier culture of losing that prevents them from winning, not talent. Good luck next year Sens fans... 80 years and counting since your last cup win. The Leafs can go (and probably will) another 40 years to much that level of futility.

  6. Welcome to team 4 young_one! -Brian
  7. Hi Mike, Your wife doesn't need a license as others have said but she doesn't have to know that... Get her a license under the pretense of avoiding a hassle. When you get a nice wally on your line, hand the rod to her. She might get a kick out of fighting a fish and be inclined to drop a line down herself. Or better yet, take me fishing and when you get a nice wally on the line HAND IT TO ME! I'm considering a name change from SlowPoke to 0fer... as in 0 fer 2007 -Brian
  8. Great report! Congrats Up-Scalers!
  9. I'm not sure I need the dual frequency but I'm glad I opted for the external antenna. If I had to do it all over again I'd probably go with the 520... save $50 on the intial purchase and another $80 for the 20* 200 kHz transducer. I also like the idea of expanding on my system, with the external antenna I can add another sonar/gps on the bow and tap into the signal via LowranceNET and share waypoints. -Brian EDIT: You mention fishing locally... the dual frequency transducer can be used on Lake Ontario. The wide cone enables you to watch your cannonballs at depth... I'm hoping to see the fish before the strike! I think fishindevl uses a 50/200 ducer, I wonder what he thinks about it.
  10. I fished a lot as a kid and then backed off as partying, girls and cars took over. I got back into it in my late teens for a few years and met my future wife. She didn't hold me back from fishing but I found myself wanting to spend more time with her. That feeling wore off and I bought a boat. I spent lots of time and money rebuilding it and setting it up for Lake Ontario and then I transferred to London. We just had our first child and the boat sat. I'm not sure if it had anything to do with our first daughter, moreso not having anybody to fish with. It was such an ordeal to hook up and go, find productive water (Lake Erie only had 1 walleye back then and everybody took turns catching it). I eventually traded the boat for a Gold Wing. That took up room in the garage for a few years. Sold that to my neighbour and bought my Jeep. In late 2005 I decided I was going to MAKE TIME FOR FISHING! It was the best decision I ever made. In 2006 I got out more than I had in the previous 10 years and had some great success with a few personal bests in numbers and size. I was itching for another boat and began the seach. Early 2007 rolls around and my Jeep gets stolen. It turned out to be a good thing I guess, it wouldn't have made a very good tow vehicle and I replaced it with a Tahoe. A couple weeks later I get a call from a guy that was selling his boat that I looked at last year (long story) and we come to a deal. Incidently, he bought a new Gold Wing. I've spent lots of time and money setting this boat up and I have yet catch a damn fish in it! Well, that's my storey. I'm not sure if marriage or kids (that was the point of this thread wasn't it?) hampered my fishing 'career'. Things happen, priorities change, interests wain. My wife is very supportive of my habit, at least for now and I'm careful not to take advantage of it. -Brian
  11. Hot is not the word on Saturday... we washed muskie lures for 10 hours, covered probably 30 miles of water and nothing. We had trouble marking weeds let alone fish. Sorry about the trailer... I always cringe when I see a guy struggle to launch a boat and when he finally gets it into the water I know he's headed to park beside my truck. -Brian
  12. I just bought the LMS-525C-dumb ass I opted for the 525 because I read too many reports of lost signals with the built-in antenna. It's possible that people buying the internal units are losing signal with the top up or are always fishing under bridges but it seemed to be prevelent enough that I decided to go with the external. With that said, if they were really that bad I'm sure they would be off the market. Why are you looking at the dumb ass unit? The 50 kHz transducer is better suited for deeper saltwater applications and the 200 kHz cone is only 12*. I ended up buying a seperate 200 kHz transducer with a 20* cone for $80. I may install both... haven't decided yet. If I do, I can add a switch to select between the two (another $80). -Brian
  13. Great report and nice pike! -Brian
  14. Does the trim work from the helm or on the side of the motor (if equipped)? If the helm switch works, it's likely a bad bow switch or loose connection between the helm and bow. The bow switch isn't likely to be fused independent of the others. I have breakers under my console from factory... if you can't find fuses keep an eye out for breakers with a reset button. -Brian
  15. Great report and pictures Steve! -Brian
  16. Those names don't ring a bell. Fortunately for me, Ecritts never got close enough to introduce his sidekicks! I bet there are some people reading this thread wondering what the heck? It's probably best that we keep the past in the past! lol -Brian
  17. Another great post Greg. You do a lot to promote fishing with your enthusiasm and tips. Keep up the good work! -Brian
  18. Well done Pete... I couldn't remember his name. He never frightened or annoyed anyone, I don't ever recall him approaching people for money either. I don't remember much from the QE/Bronte days but your name rang a bell. Another name that rings a bell... "Secret Ecritts" (sp?) "Good times, bad times, You know I had my share...." - Zeppelin -Brian
  19. Good job boys! Very impressive fish! Clive, caught on orange or black or orange and black? That musta felt good getting a monster on one of your own lures! -Brian
  20. Hey Pete, do you remember "The Mayor of Bronte"? I think you're old enough.... in fact I think I went to school with you.. QE Park
  21. Ottawa media moaning about last night's game.... Moaning about officiating Moaning about Corey Perry And of all things... the national anthem. According to these clowns the Canadian anthem was sung "with anger" by Holly Cole (Canadian). They even chose to comment on the American anthem singer having "visited the buffet" before taking the microphone. No mention of the Sen's top players playing hide and go seek and taking stupid penelties. If it wasn't for Emery it could have been 5-0
  22. That one is very nice Pam but I still prefer this one...
  23. LOL Mike!!!!! That's priceless!! -Brian
  24. Ohhh, if only it was a console That's an awesome setup! I look forward to setting up a new boat someday but for now I'll just keep applying lipstick to my old pig. -Brian
  25. Costco had some (sort of) gazebos on display that can be screened in... 12x12, aluminium frame and look great. I don't recall the price but I remember being quite impressed... I think well under a thousand.
