  1. Water quality and climate change, don't these matters fall under Ministry of Environment juresdiction? I'm not saying it does but merely suggesting these are amongst many matters that are overlapped by the MoE and MNR. Isn't it time to combine resources - infrastructure, biologists, management etc? -Brian
  2. We saw the old, where's the new one??? Congrat's on the upgrade! -Brian
  3. Okay, Taper had something come up and he will not be attending. So, if anybody was on the fence about attending but didn't want to go because Taper was going to be there.... Just kidding Taper, I just wanted to bump the thread! -Brian
  4. Thanks to deepdiver, my boat cover is no longer sagging! We met last night in Mississauga. Thanks again to everyone else for offering to help me out. -Brian
  5. I'm willing to beer the check store daily for the new reg's. I'll let you guys found if I know them. <brrrappp!)
  6. Way to go Cliff, your dang' "Part 1" post sure takes the shine off my "All the fish I have ever caught in my life" post I had planned for this weekend. Way to go guys, you deserve it for all the effort and energy expended that doesn't make it into your posts. Looking forward to "Part 2" -Brian
  7. Great report Gavin, thanks for taking the time to compile your thoughts and photos. I know it's a little late but if you want to take one last shot at a muskie, I'd be happy to take you out this weekend! -Brian
  8. Well done Sam! You didn't take the day off, you were doing some research for your clientel that demands the most up-to-date information for the area. Hope you kept your gas receipts!! -Brian
  9. I just got off the phone with Terry at the Final Score to confirm our reservation - we're all good! Reservation is under OFC or Ontario Fishing Network. I reminded Terry about the half price wings and $10 pitchers. He mentioned to me that with larger groups they add a 10% gratuity on the bills for the servers. When you receive you bill have a look for it and tip accordingly or in case they forgot! -Brian
  10. Let a battery thaw before freezing. Better yet, don't allow a battery to freeze in the first place. Storing them in an unheated garage will be fine. Batteries won't freeze at 0*C. The actual freezing point will depend on the condition of the electolyte. A discharged battery will freeze slightly below 0*C while a fully charged battery should withstand anything a Canadian winter could throw at it. Top it up with distilled water. Give it a full charge. Check the level again in case you've overcharged and top it up. Leave the battery in your garage or shed and test it once a month. -Brian
  11. This time of year all those crappy free ramps we swear we'll never use again might be your best bet provided the ground has some firmness to it. Might be a little early for that yet. -Brian
  12. I hope to be sitting on the boathouse deck Dec. 22 around 9PM overlooking ice formations at Sandy Cove on Lake Simcoe while smoking a Cohiba and sipping imported liquirs. It's an annual family get together and the only time I get a chance to sample some of the finer things in life. -Brian
  13. Yup, Penn 209LC but I don't think they have a lefty. I had two ordered for pickup from LeBaron's and they didn't receive them in time for my Quinte trip so I cancelled the order. I'll get them locally.
  14. I deliberately avoid that area around lunchtime - I don't have that much willpower! -Brian
  15. I have a Corsair, caught three skies on it so far and it hasn't blown up (yet). I'd be the first to admit these are not muskie reels but not bad if you're on a budget. I don't use it for trolling anymore, the Penn 209 gets the nod for that duty. I'm saving the Corsair for casting duty now until I can afford an upgrade. I'm finding it tough to fish so many species on a budget and most of my equipment is dual purpose at this point. If I had to wait to afford the best equipment for the task at hand, I wouldn't be getting out much. -Brian
  16. Thanks for the update Rick, was it something we said to her??? -Brian
  17. Congrat's on the new ride Garry! That report helps take some of the chill out of the air around here. -Brian
  18. 12/20 for me but at least I know what a Pickeral isn't!
  19. Thanks Sam, I appreciate the offer! -Brian
  20. Something is wrong with my computer, all I hear is wind and water. -Brian
  21. Give it a full charge before storing and keep it above freezing temperature. It doesn't have to be very warm and topping up the charge once a month wouldn't hurt. -Brian
  22. LOL, it's not a myth it's commen sense! Cliff is storing in his garage, his floor is concrete and the concrete will be wayyyyy colder than ambiant temperature. All he has to do is keep it off the floor and it won't freeze. -Brian
  23. Start off at a local track or perhaps go-carts. Gain experience and with that will come success. With success comes sponsership and before you know it, you'll be turning left with the big boys. Sorry, couldn't resist adapting the old joke... Guy is driving in New York and stops to ask for directions "How do I get to Broadway?" -Brian
  24. Okay, I could be full of crap but this is my inturpretation. Lifejackets and PFD's are two different animals. Lifejackets are approved by Transport Canada, require a minimum bouyancy rating, self-righting and available in red, orange and yellow. PFD's are approved by the Canadian Coast Guard, require a minimum bouyancy rating, have limited self-righting ability and are available in any colour you want including camo. I have yet to see plaid however. Inflatables and Float suits are grouped in with vest style PFD's. Both lifejackets and PFD's are acceptable for our recreational fishing needs but commercial vessels may have different regulations. -Brian
