I'm partial to St. Croix myself but try the reel on a bunch of different rods. You'll fall in love with the rod that has the best balance for that reel. Another vote for 7' MHF for an all-around rod. I have a first generation Citica on a Compre rod and it's holding up well... combo purchased in '93

Roy & Rob; I'll be at Lakair this weekend Friday to Tuesday, I've got room for 2 more in the boat and lotsa room in the fridge for the Old Mill!!

What hurt more, the arms or the hook injury? Some monsters on that trip!

Well, Honda actually got the ball rolling in the 70's. The early Suzuki 4-wheeler was actually dubbed a beginners ATV... others may consider it the ATV you are less likely to die on LOL. I'm not a Honda fan but they were the pioneers and I'm sure everybody remembers the "Big Red" and "Odyssey"

Well done Jim!!! I'll be there this weekend, drop by if you're in the 'hood!

Well, Restoule was pretty much a waste

Sorry your trip didn't meet your expectations but I'll assure you, it was wayyyy better than my week at work! -
That's not quite the case. Some are directed towards pilots, geo-cachers, marine, automotive. Marine units tend to float and are water resistant. Garmin is probably your best bet for map detail but you'll have to purchase the map software separately. Your budget will dictate what unit you purchase. Lot's of choice.

Ohhhh, did we forget to warn you about that? That'll straighten your hair!

A little perspective on power... A few years ago I rented a Kodiak 400 on Cougar Mtn in BC. I was over 300lbs and pushed that governed quad pretty hard through some very technical slow rocky climbs. I would have benefited from opening up the governor but I never had to get off the bike. Speed certainly wasn't lacking. I'd estimate 80-90 km/h along a logging road with a 1000' drop... I never did get it wide open. When I returned home I began shopping shopping for a Grizzly 600. At that time, it was THE bike to have. I didn't end up purchasing it because it occurred to me that I really had nowhere to enjoy it! I think you'll do fine with either bike but my preference would be the Yamaha.

And you're a mod? Have some respect for those that have a career in retail sales. Better yet, put yourself in the position of someone that doesn't think he knows it all and is seeking assistance. Your first comment added nothing to this thread and your second it just offensive.

Go easy on Roy, that's the first time I've seen him holding anything other than Joey!

Port Stanley is the worst I've encountered. Water comes over the transom because there isn't enough hull in the water yet to displace the weight!

I get nothing but abuse from the shops I frequent! Steve at Lambeth Tackle once said to me "I knew it was you when the Bull detector went off" (the dog barking outside the store) Jos at AO reminds me every chance he gets that I'm a "stupid muskie guy". What makes these guys great is that they make you feel welcome in their own way but they are quick to lend assistance when an infrequent or new customer comes through the door. I've been going to Angling Sport in London more often now because of the change in ownership. The previous owner was somewhat like you described in Hamilton. I have yet to achieve the same abusive relationship there. LOL We're spoiled to have such good shops in the London area.

Any London area folks looking to get out for some Lake O action tomorrow? I have all the gear needed. Leaving around 4am, back to London before dinner.

A little late for you but I'd recommend Torpedo divers over the minis. Especially compared to non directional mini dipsy's; the Torpedos excel by requiring less line out/foot down, less drag (more bite sensitive) and you can run leads as long as you want. Simply detach the Torpedo from your line as you reel in. They are more expensive than dipsy's but I much prefer them to the mini's for the reasons mentioned.

Good place to get boat vinyl flooring in the GTA?

Ducan Dek-Master "West Coast Gray" was 100% match for my 1987 Starcraft and 2011 Starcraft. Very easy to work with and adheres very well on horizontal and vertical surfaces using 3M Spray Glue. Be sure to spray both clean surfaces and let the glue get tacky for 3-5 minutes depending on temperature and humidity. I absolutely recommend this product and Home Depot can have your order within a week. I don't find so at all. Another benefit to vinyl, it won't stay wet for long. No puddles or soak-in like you would experiance with carpet. -
Just for the record, I didnt put a low pitch prop on because you were coming out with us lol

$2800!!!! I don't blame you for passing on that; you can buy a lot of coils for that kinda bread! I guess I'm pretty fortunate getting 6yrs at no additional cost. Good luck with the repair.

Probably a camp motor.

I broke one of the cardinal rules of boating today.

Wow, glad that turned out okay and I'm impressed the PFD was still there! Just in case you weren't aware, inflatable PFD's are only legal when worn. You can still get fined for no PFD even if it's sitting in the boat with you. -

A month or so ago, Rolly left his iPhone on my bumper in London and it was found in Mississauga... 150 kms! -
"Hogdoggler" LMAO!!! Both great fish and congrats to both of you. Here's the irony. Had they opted for a quality nets instead of the GoPro's, we're not having this conversation or seeing this fiasco. It's great that the fish swam away but maybe somebody reading this thread will benefit from Joey's comment and allocate funds towards a suitable net rather than a nicer rod/reel, more lures or electronics.

Blah blah blah! Are you sure that noise wasn't your teeth chattering. You must have been freezing out there if YOU were wearing socks! Great footage today Mike.

Ohhh young grasshopper, you have much to learn. This afternoon I found another sucker to go "fishing" with me. We went to Wildwood, floated around for several hours and here's the final tally: Me: 1 perch Him: 1 trophy rock bass and 1 real bass Boat: 1 mangled prop, 1 bent skeg, 1 rope sucked into the prop. We're not sure how it happened; we didn't hit anything on the lake. When we pulled the boat out another fisherman said we had a rope in the prop and that's when we noticed a few bite marks on the blades. It was an old mooring rope with loops at both ends. My guess is that it got sucked into the prop and one of the loops hooked the skeg. I can only think the prop bottomed out when we were loading the boat. I was able to straighten out the skeg with very little effort and I have a new prop on there now.
