  1. Ohhhh, don't even get me started!!! LMAO!!! http://montreal.ctvnews.ca/walmart-old-navy-and-others-taking-quebec-government-to-court-over-language-laws-1.1049032
  2. And I suppose you can paint an entire room with one brush stroke? Catch and release took a long time to get where it is today. Proper handling and awareness will take time too. It's not just St. Clair; it's just easy to point fingers when 2 out of every 3 fish caught are trophy caliber and it attracts so many anglers.
  3. There's a whole lot of people in the Quebec construction racket squirming right now http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/tag/quebec-construction-scandal
  4. http://www.lfpress.com/2012/11/20/miscommunication-leads-to-hydro-pole-in-the-middle-of-a-quebec-roadway (Article with picture) ESTRIE, Que. - When driving in Quebec, watch out for the hydro poles, especially the ones sticking out of the middle of the road. A road about 180 km east of Montreal was recently widened so drivers didn't have to manoeuvre around a bend that was deemed dangerous. However, the transport department and the hydro utility didn't communicate to have two hydro poles removed. The regional director for the transport department admitted there was a miscommunication with Hydro-Quebec. "It's unacceptable," said Gilles Bourque. "As the one responsible for the regional transport network, we should have ensured that this didn't happen." Gilles Therrien, owner of the company that executed the work, said he was embarrassed about the poles, but there was nothing he could do - he was just following orders, he said. "Everyone knows it looks crazy," he told QMI Agency. "But the transport department is our client. You must understand, I was somewhat uncomfortable to criticize them." It will cost up to $10,000 to remove the poles and repair the road again. The poles were reportedly removed late Tuesday.
  5. If I can add a couple... On a deep hook, I usually cut the split ring and often find it much easier to remove the hook with the lure out of the way. Keep eye protection in mind while using cutting tools. Once the fish is in the net, disengage the spool with the clicker on or loosen the drag all the way off a non-clicker reel. This can prevent a hook in the hand if you or someone else bumps the rod. Cut down and retie/crimp your frayed trolling leaders and using them for casting leaders. (Thanks for that tip Mike)
  6. The spool appears off center only on the closed side. If it were dropped, I suspect there would be evidence of damage. The wobble isn't likely to cause any problems in use but it's probably the reason for the bearing to fail prematurely. I suspect its been wobbling right out of the box.
  7. Great introduction and welcome to the forum
  8. Sounds like a good CS experience thus far. I don't think you'll be disappointed. You'll forget all about the one-way shipping cost once you're back on the river. Ahhh, who am I kidding; you know the whereabouts of every nickle you've ever spent!
  9. He absolutely would if it was obviously defective; just like he replaced Emil's wading boots. The trouble is, he's not an "authorized Islander repair tech" (or whatever they're called) so he could be on the hook for the new reel if Islander deems it worn out or damaged. I had trouble with some reels a few years back and he offered to replace them with 'new and improved' models or credit towards another purchase. That's when I started my Tekota collection. He also replaced two trolling rods for me this year, no questions asked. Quite simply, he's one of the easiest retailers around to deal with... if can get him to stand still for more than a minute!!
  10. Huge fish, very nice. I'm not sure I'd want to reach done that hole.
  11. I mentioned this to Emil as well... whether it spins for 6 minutes or 8 minutes is pretty irrelevant BUT, he has noticed start up issues and has had to hand feed a little to keep the float moving. Having said all that; if it's not spinning like it used to, there's a problem and it's just going to get worse. It shouldn't hum while it spins. I could hear it over the phone. It sounds like a drift lol (actually a draft blowing through an unseal door.... Wayne will get that joke)
  12. At that price for minnow's I'd do a comparison. I love the 5" Gulp Alive but I've never done a live vs. plastic showdown.
  13. That's offensive. Go down to Big Al's and pick up a couple dozen Nemo's. The walleye won't have any problem finding them.
  14. At least they used a great photo of you!
  15. These comments are killing me! Great night on the water, Mike!
  16. Nice job and congrat's on the PB's. It was tough for us out there today but I was happy to see you guys get a few inches for your efforts! Anytime you want to hookup, let me know.
  17. Muuuuusssskiiiieeeeeeeesss!!!

  18. What ever happened to those lucrative Nissan sponsorships?
  19. Great recap Rick! Let's get G out for muskie next year. Sorry you can't make it out tomorrow but I hear you have better things to do... watching G-Man kick some butt!
  20. The link won't open for me... are we talking about Donald Trump?
  21. On most days its just a minor issue and there are some inconsiderate boaters out there too... Running planer boards in the river, chasing a large muskie around the river in a 20' pontoon boat shouting "it's okay, I know what I'm doing. I just using light gear!" Ahhh good times.
  22. Sail and LeBaron in Ottawa should carry them. A quick phone call may answer your question.
  23. Not necessarily. When boats fish the river, they may pass the pier every 15-20 minutes if they are fishing the mouth as well. The pier is only about 80' long but you have no choice but to pass it coming in and out of the river.
