  2. awesome stuff. are you on the shallow flat of the shoal or closer to the drop offs? what depth you in on these shoals?
  3. Ya I use 100 yards of line. The 400 holds 200 yards of 80lb braid. thats way to much.
  4. I used 80lb all last year with no issues. The 400 Daiwa could probably use a decent amount of mono backing before the PP as well. No need to spool the entire thing with PP. Musky arent trout where they run with your line 100 yards.
  5. Thats what I have, love everything but the intense of amount of hair shedding. Heres mine ice fishing: https://goo.gl/photos/qhNy5WcN5FV4NMoY6
  6. Purebread means lab mixed with lab, or whatever. When you mix breeds it stops being a purebred. so labradoodles and goldendoodles are not purebred.
  7. Everything at the International Center is called the "Toronto _______". The international center us a better venue anyways. Easier to drive to. Free parking. No battling the DVP or QEW
  8. They definitely bill out of province plates. To the OP, the 407 is very expensive. I think from Hamilton to Toronto is about $30 one way. And the Sportsman show last year was very good, its VERY busy. Its mostly resorts up north as well, lots of fly ins.
  9. First post I've made asking how the ice is......my last topic was on how the weather looked promising. And I'm stuck at work all weekend otherwise I'd be out there checking. Shouldn't be any harm asking others how it is and if people still out there.
  10. With the two weeks of warm weather we had (really warm weather). Im not sure these last few days of cold weather is enough to keep the ice safe. Anyone still out there? Simcoe, Haliburton, Huntsville?
  11. Surprised the ice is still good. Even the Simcoe area has been hit with tons of warm weather and rain.
  12. Starting March 2nd go back into the minus temperatures. Ice could stay for a bit longer now. Huntsville: Minden:
  13. when you guys say check the US market. Where exactly are you checking?
  14. Hahaha it was not exciting. I didnt even say hello. He looks about 10 years older in person to, I almost didnt recognize him. I dont care for his show. In one episode he was trying to pitch the bait bucket he was using (i know theyre paid to promote products, but it seemed really silly).
  15. If the ice is done in Huntsville, then Id say ice fishing season is over for southern GTA. Today in Toronto is 21 degress outside (according to my car). With no minus degrees in the future, the ice cant recover.
  16. Just wondering if there are any public access points. I see there is a boat launch on the North side but Google maps doesnt really seem to show it to well. Dont want to drive 2 hours if theres really no public access for ice fishing.
  17. It was much better than last year. Saw Charlie Ray from Fishful Thinking at Crestliner booth. Bought some musky lures from Handlebarz, and saw Pete. Bought the Compre musky rod from Shimano, and also bought the new bass X rod from St Croix for crankbaits.
  18. This is what Ive noticed. There isnt much in the 7-8 year old range. And I find even the ones that are very close to a new boat price.
  19. Im hoping to still go out by March, in either Huntsville or Haliburton area. But the weather doesnt look promising for 14 days forecast. Looks like around +8*C every day for the most part.
  20. Im in a similar position as you. Im looking for a smaller boat and less engine though. Im having a hard time finding much for less than 18k. It seems like a lot of people want what they paid for their boat or close to it. Used boats in the range im looking at are almost the price of new. Good luck, I havent had any yet, but it is really early.
  21. Simcoe had a foot of ice on sunday in cooks bay
  22. Looking at used boats. Wondering what is an acceptable number of hours on a motor? There's a used boat 2014 60hp with 280 hours of use.
  23. Looked like around 200 teams, was a really nice day on Simcoe. I dindn't stay until the end of the awards but I believe the winner was about 14lbs for the 12 fish. Anyone here take part in the derby? We had caught our 12 fish by about 10am and caught about 20 for the day, but definetly no where near the 14lb mark ha.
  24. Is there one specific species of trout that is preferred for fishing through the ice?
  25. Ya I figured as much. I dont want to drive 3-4 hours to a lake and have no luck. Doesnt seem like theres any info online either. Thanks anyways
