You can catch them by the boat load at Port Dalhousie Pier (east on at the end) in June. I use to do this when I was a kid (grew up close by) it was a lot of fun and the bigger ones are good fighters.

2nd Saturday of May in 16! Georgian Bay = 14 = May 1st This makes perfect sense. The water is colder in G Bay, the fish spawn a little later, so lets open the season earlier so we can make sure and catch all of them on their spawning beds. Geese, I wish the Gov. would pull their heads out of their A S S ' E S sometimes.

As a 30 year something, I have to agree with the old bugger above , you are only as old as you allow yourself to feel (at heart anyways). But maybe you want to consider starting some meanful relationships, start a meanful and fulfilling career and becoming part of a community. This may all sound boring right now, but one day you will want to be free to do what you want before you are to old to enjoy. It is alot easier to work and plan for the future now then it is to work and wish you had planned better when you are 75. Michelle and I travel quite a bit, around the province, the country and the world. We always look forward to our adventures and when we return we know that there will always be another one around the corner short of a tragedy. Just my 2Cents

Michelle is working this weekend, so I will be doing it solo....... Fishing that is.

You have lots of good advicde here. The only thing I may add is to reconsider the South Central Access off of 60 I am assuming. You would be much better served to hit one of the access points off of 17 between North Bay and Mattawa. Also you would be well served to take an extra day and penetrate the park a little further then 4 to 6 hours of paddling.

Any trib that flows into Huron or the St MAry's river would be a good place to start. Pancake bay in Sault St. Marie if you don't mind the drive. The Goulais River is another great rive just north of the Sault.

You guys are all wrong..... This is just a simple demonstration how to move your boat without a trailer. I mean really, why go through the extra costs of having a trailer, license plates, maintance etc. Just load your boat in the back of your truck and go. To unload, simply back down the ramp at 40mph and slam on the brakes, problem solved. One more dodge headed for the junk heap, one day we will mange to get them all off the road!

Only if you load up your reel with 80 lb braid, a steel leader and a lure with lots of large trebles...oh wait the salmon don't start running till september in the tribs. -

I think we would be better served with a seperate area for each of the following: Definite A Holes Sometimes an A Hole Never an A Hole and.... What is an A Hole You can decide for yourself who will post where! -
How long is your steelhead rod and what material is it made of?
Casey123 replied to a topic in General Discussion
Dude, You really need to get out and fish. I have seen lots of 6'6" IM7 Rods. So no, I think this has merit to it, but it is just as much about marketing for the rod blank companies. They charge more for the higher IM ratings. As much as I would like to claim to be all knowing, I just cut and pasted this from All Star Rod blanks info page. -
If anyone reading this has rust on their tool(s) get to the doctor right away, I mean do not finish reading my post...JUST GO. We have medication........I mean lubricants.....ur protectants......well hopefully you get the idea.

How long is your steelhead rod and what material is it made of?

Dude, You owe me....Now stop with the questions, go by yourself a damn rod and catch a fish! LOL What Is Modulus/IM and Ton Rating? Modulus is the term referring to the elasticity of the graphite. It is the relationship between stress (the applied force per square inch) and strain (the amount of deformation that the force causes per square inch). You can think of modulus as stiffness. The IM and/or Ton rating refers to the overall modulus of the material. At All Star Rods, we use a unique blend of high tensile strength AGC (Aerospace Grade Carbon) fibers which give our rods a super strong backbone with sensitivity second to none. You will also notice the light weight that allows for effortless casting and all day fishing comfort. Rating Chart IM-6 Graphite = 30+ Ton Material (Standard Modulus) IM-7 Graphite = 35+ Ton Material (Intermediate Modulus) IM-8 Graphite = 40+ Ton Material (Intermediate/High Modulus) IM-10 Graphite = 54+ Ton Material (High Modulus) -

Michelle and I have 3 rods, I use a 12'6 Fenwick, Michelle uses a 11 foot Cavalier blank, someone made for her, nice rod, cheap blank but still has very good action. We also have a 9'6 Diawa for smalller streams and back up for when we are further from home. Like the action on the Diawa the best. I agree with MJL, the rod feeling is more important then the IM rating of the graphite (I believe length of strands). I am sure there is a corolation however for us it is more about rod feeling/balance and action. -
Caledonia Dam on the Grand is loaded with them. Big yarn baits, no hook required. Cool looking fish.

Need good spinning reel for Pike fishing
Casey123 replied to [email protected]'s topic in General Discussion
We fish Quantum Energy PTi. Love them for a good mid priced reel (between 150 and 200 depending where you shop, Gerrit can probably help you find it for $4.00 Shipping included) - You would want the energy PTi 40 - don't get Quantums cheaper crap. More importantly then the brand, you need a good strong drag that is smooth and has a true anti reverse. There are going to be a lot o opinions on brands, but everyone will tell you the same, don't buy a reel cause it is a "good deal", buy one because it is good quality. -
We use Power Pro 10lb (I believe it is 4 lb diameter) with 6 lb flouro leader. Just switched last year, and I will never go back, for jigging anyways. The diff is night and day.

mmmmmmmmmm....Google Earth, A great way to find new spots......secret spots...so we can post our GPS coirdinates here and ruin them for all future generations.

Couple mepps 03 spinners, gold, silver, black and red - probably fit 4 or 5 in one compartment. Couple white and black 4" twister tails and some white and yellow jig heads. Some 1/3 oz cleos pearch and shad pattern crank baits - medium depth - 8 to 11 feet - 3" or 4" variety So that is 5 Compartments one top water popper - frog or red/white one or two williams spoons A couple of deer hair jigs - white, natural and chartruss and some terminal tackle, can always dig up some worms or bugs

That is because you are not Lew, the fishing Ninja, I see movie rights all over this story.

Well, Until we find away to prevent OOS fish from striking, all you can do is realease quickly. Best if you do not even take out of the water. If the CO has circum. evidence that you were targeting OOS fish and catches you, you are in trouble. About the first question, if you land it in an out of season area, let it go. If you are concerned about this, give yourself a 200yard buffer to be safe.

Bob, you have serious issues..LOL

So, Michelle has Board meetings the next two weekends...... Means I will have to be hitting the G Bay Tribs on my own. This will be the last time before the big opener......which I might add, I will also have to do alone this year. So anyone wants to head up to G bay this weekend I am game. will be in Stayner for 7:00ish and no I will not be interested in fishing the Tanglebury or in Meaford. But I will be fishing some good local tribs that have produced nicely for us. Brrutled or whatever your name is, I would take you but to quote "people should get off their lazy asses and find their own fishing spots" LOL Michael
