  1. As a first aid & cpr instructor I can add to this thread. Some more signs & symptoms. Facial droop - one side of the face doesn't move as well as the other. Complains of weakness - sudden weakness, numbness or tingling in face, arm or leg. Vision problems - sudden loss, particularly in one eye or double vision. Headache - sudden severe & unusual. Decreased level of consciousness - mental confusion. Loss of bladder control. Dizziness - sudden loss of balance, especially with any of the above symptoms. Unequal size of pupils - indicates some form of brain injury. Caution - unequal pupils are normal for some people. As for raising the arms - Have them raise both arms together to the straight to the side level with the shoulders. If they can't do this or one arm drifts down this is a sign. This statement is a little overstated. If the stroke is severe enough death may result quickly. Less severe stokes can cause some brain damage effecting certain bodily functions depending on what part of the brain is effected. There are 2 causes of strokes, a blood clot blocks a narrowed artery in the brain depriving the brain of oxygen beyond this point. This is the most common cause of stroke and damage can reversed or at least reduced with prompt treatment. A ruptured artery in the brain can also cause a stroke. These strokes tend not to respond to treatment as well. Rick
  2. John summed it up pretty good. Wildwood is close to there as is also both the north and south branches of the Thames river. When you get up here maybe we can get out together. Rick
  3. Hard to tell by your pictures but the top end of the Nith river runs through the area near Wellesley. At this time of year there is a sucker run through the river. Also some pike and panfish. Bass are also in the river and open a little later in the year.
  4. If a non resident of Canada is operating a Canadian licensed or registered watercraft, than they are required to meet the Canadian Operator Competency requirements.
  5. I have not had a problem shooting through an aluminum hull. Before I had my own boat I used to lay the transducer on the bottom of a rental boat at the back near the drain plug. There has to be some water laying there and then it will work. On my boat now I mount it in the same area by using silicone. Ensure there are no air pockets. Vexilar now sells a product call "The AlumaDucer" made for this purpose. It is made for most depthfinders. Here's a couple links about it. http://www.vexilar.com/pages/accessories/a...sducers_au.html http://www.vexilar.com/pages/accessories/a...ers_au_adp.html Rick
  6. As stated earlier you will fall under a sport fishing limit. If you grandchildren are Canadian residents under 18, they have their own sports fishing limit. Rick
  7. I'm not sure it's a great idea for an operator of a commercial sports fishing operation to openly admit to violating the Ontario Fishing Regulations on a public forum. Some CO's do check out these forums. "It is an offence to attempt to obtain more than one card. It is also an offence to provide false information on a card application." Pg. 5 of Fishing Ontario 2008-2009 Recreational Fishing Summary.
  8. This is correct if you are referring to those under 18 that are non residents of Canada. If they are under 18 and residents of anywhere in Canada than no license is required and they have there own limit (Sport Fishing limits).
  9. What most don't realize is that Bettman is not the ones making the decisions. He's the owners mouth piece. Hired by the owners to represent and yes advise them. But if he goes against the owners wishes he's gone.
  10. Not likely to go to Hamilton. It's within an area that Buffalo can and will veto it. The league also has to approve the sale and I suspect that might be a hard sell. After Jim Balsillie started to sell tickets for a team in Hamilton which he had not yet bought or had any approval to move he ruffled a few feathers within the league. Lets wait and see how this plays out. I'd love to see a team in the Kitchener or London area.
  11. I had the same problem a few years back. My tires were quite old & a size not common any more. Rim size does not always correspond to tire height. My old tires were: 6.90/6.00 X 9 and were 20" high. Replaced with: 5.30 X 12 that are 20" high. To order the older tires it was going to be over $100 each. New tires & rims IIRC was $70 each. It was far cheaper get new tires & rims. Go with the largest tire height you can, it will decrease tire & bearing wear. Also ensure the weight ratings on your tires is suitable. Rick
  12. This is not new. As for enforcement. IIRC this came in effect in 2004. This post doesn't completely explain the current law. Please check out the Ontario MTO website. Rick
  13. Those 12 -17 years of age you refer to also need a card now. As for a 12' boat everyone needs a card now. The hp on these boats do not apply as far as requiring a PCOC. Rick
  14. Side brackets can seriously upset your weight balance. A wave or even worse a boat wake can flip you easily. About 6 years ago I had to rescue 2 people in the middle of Wildwood Reservoir. A boat wake flipped them and their canoe with a side mounted motor. Of course everything in the canoe including fishing gear and his wallet were lost to the bottom. Be Safe: Rick
  15. I also agree with you Nanook. One only has to look also at discussions on Towing Capacities or Pleasure Operator Cards to see suggestions on how to avoid conforming with the rules. I suspect some may believe the suggestions only to find out later that the authorities don't agree. Roy I believe some read them only to try to figure out ways to avoid complying or justify why the rules are faulty so they can feel OK not complying. Rick
  16. If the switch lights up it is most likely not a fuse unless there is one inline between the switch and pump. Check to ensure power is getting to the pump. A bad switch or corroded connection at the switch or pump could be your problem. As also mentioned the pump many have something jamming it up. Check everything out before replacing the pump. Rick
  17. These don't exempt you from the transportation regulations. Basically it means a holding box or impounding device in the body of water you caught the fish. Some people have these under their docks. Can also mean a livewell that forms part of or is attached to a boat.
  18. Generally fairly easy. First test the switch with a continuity tester or volt meter. If good ensure power is getting to the pump. If required changing the pump requires removing and reinstalling the discharge hose, mounting the pump and re hooking the power. Consider a bilge pump with a float switch which will automatically kick in when needed. Best location is center back of the boat. Rick
  19. Misfish: Did you ever think that statements like this only give the anti's more ammunition to attack our sport. That's not what we need. Rick
  20. Yes it is illegal. From Fishing Ontario 2008-2009 - Recreational Fishing Regulations Summary. pg. 9 GENERAL PROHIBITIONS - IT IS ILLEGAL TO *It is illegal to transport live fish, other than baitfish, taken from Ontario waters or to transfer or stock any fish into Ontario's waters without a special licence to transport or stock fish.
  21. According to your figures your GVWR exceeds the 4,500 kg limit. 3,000+3,175=6,175kg. Actual weight is not a factor so "keeping the weight slip" means nothing. It's based on the maximum possible weight according to your GVWR's. Rick
  22. Twocoda: I'm assuming you are referring to the small shallow bay across the lake from the boat launch. Just south of the sailing club still within the no wake zone. Water levels vary thoughout the year but are generally higher in the spring and by the late fall about 10' lower. At this time of year there will be about 5' of water in this small bay. There are also a few more small shallow bays on the reserviour that are quite weedy but tend to hold more bass than anything else. There is also a fishing dock in the bay that holds the boat docks. It is just east of the boat docks. Rick
  23. Ok now you got me as I've been fishing Wildwood and area for almost 40 years & don't don't know of any fishable swamp in the area. I also worked for the Conservation Authority there for one season. Rick
  24. Fisher Lucas: If you bring the canoe stay in the no wake zone near the campground or very tight to the shoreline. To get out in the middle of the lake where the powerboats play will only find you upside down quickly, especially on a long weekend. As for fishing there is some decent shore fishing at the campgrounds. Any where along the rocks beside the highway will hold fish. Cast big plugs or spinners for pike. Fish corn on bottom for big carp almost anywhere. Panfish (perch, rockbass & bullheads) are also available. Bass are also plentiful but out of season in May. Good Luck: Rick
