  1. I've done this a few times. Just remove the head and guts, and make sure you freeze them in water. Keeps the flesh nice and firm.
  2. I picked up a 6' daiwa procyon rod last year and paired it with a small pflueger president and it makes an excellent, very light combo. I'm running 6 lb suffix mono on it currently and I love it. The whole set up ran me about a buck twenty.
  3. Nice goin, Randy. Yesterday was slow for me as well up on Marten (only managed one), but whacked 'em good early this morning before the winds picked up.
  4. Probably the only thing I'll miss about being in Whitby. Have fun
  5. As others have said, the double uni is the staple for attaching two different lines together. All I'll ever use. I like the clinch knot for its simplicity and good strength for tieing to baits, but I like to use the rapala knot for most body baits (especially twitchbaits/countdowns etc).
  6. You're in for a treat! Going solo?
  7. Lots of water!
  8. There's no fish around here. Quit while you're still ahead.
  9. River water is public, but I tend to avoid crossing private property, as it can be a little intrusive. You shouldn't have a problem finding tracts of crown land along stream banks where you are.
  10. Well, that's just not fair... Just kidding. Those are some incredible fish
  11. Nice goin, guys. Definitely a late spring. Saw next to no weed growth down on restoule where i'd historically see plenty this time of year. Zero fish to boot. We should hook up for some pike fishing sometime soon, i know a sweet little shore spot up north (read where im going tonight).
  12. Wow...huge fish! Nice going. I'm still waiting to crack the 10 pound mark
  13. # 7 is clearly the only effective one of those tips. I wouldn't expect to see a CEO of an oil company encourage me to ride my bike to work every day.
  14. Forget deet, get a carton of smokes!
  15. Do you grab your leeches at Discount, blair? are they priced half-decent?
  16. a) much, much higher than last year no fire ban c) about a month later than last year, so close to normal, maybe a little late
  17. I think I know. Sounds like a trip for the following weekend.
  18. Good luck, Blair. I'll be down on Restoule for most of the weekend.
  19. Ohhhhhhh boy I've got the itch now. Beautiful fish
  20. Nice going chad. I'm not sure I'll ever travel to a place I find more beautiful than superior's north shore.
  21. yep. having said that, it's tough to beat foil-wrapped steelhead on the bbq
  22. It's definitely a small panther martin with an orange fly on the treble. I have the same one sitting on my desk in front of me. Beautiful fish!
  23. Used this a few times. Landed me nothin' but a few nice hikes.
  24. Excellent report. I've still yet to venture into algonquin during the spring (only summer). it's certainly on my bucket list, and this report bumps it up a few notches.
