  1. tackletour.com most likely has a review on it. I've heard nothing but good things about the Curado.
  2. I don't think the Vaseline helped with this...
  3. I'm sorry Lew My condolences to you and your family.
  4. Those fish would be dead in 30mins, you were just seeing muscle reflexes
  5. You wouldn't have even made a cast, you didn't miss out on much. So much ice flow I made maybe 5 decent drifts with my float setup on Saturday and that was it. Chatted with a few guys down there, all were bottom bouncing. Flyfishing would have been an even worse decision
  6. :eeek: I don't want either guy to get hurt, but I'd like to see GSP win by KO or submission. BJ has been talking alot of smack, I hope he can back it up.
  7. I got a wicked deal and pulled the trigger on a Shimano Saros F. I like the fact that it uses the 750 body with the 1000 sized spool. Should go great with my UL. Thanks guys!
  8. There are no losses until you pull the money out. I hate to say it, but it's true. Is being mortgage free that big of a deal? What's an extra few years? I'd sit on your investment for a good 12-18months and then see what happens. You aren't going to make anything by pulling that $$$ out and dropping it into a savings account.. If you pull out now, you are going to miss the upswing that the market is inevitably going to take.
  9. I think you are talking the Queenston ramp, I myself just figured out where it was (Thanks Jack! lol) You are going to have a real tough time down there with a flyrod, it's big river. I would bring a spinning setup as backup.
  10. Hey guys, I'm looking at upgrading my arsenal by adding in an ultralite spinning reel. This will be used on my Fenwick UL 6' rod for chasing brookies and any other unsuspecting victims that I may encounter This is going to be a dedicated small stream reel.. I'll be using either 2-4lb mono, small #0 and #1 spinners. I currently have a lower end quantum that I picked up in a rush and the drag is anything but smooth. Some shakers in the Notty gave that reel a work out and I was lucky that I even landed them. I've been looking at a Stradic/Sustain series, the Quantum Energy E10PTi-B series and I guess anything else someone can suggest. I'll be using this reel 2-3 times a week, so it needs to stand up to the constant usage. Bushwacking isn't easy on reels as you know, so something sturdy is definitely needed. I really like the 750 Sahara series for the size, but wish the higher end Shimano's came in those sizes (Stella not included, way out of my price range)
  11. Mike, I think we'll need to make a few trips this year to GB in search of some Esox. I'll steal the oldmans boat How does Massassauga sound?
  12. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you guys are to quick Who needs a date?
  13. Crap, I thought this post was for tickets!!!
  14. lol!!!! Marc, how many do your clients catch? :EDIT: Addicted2fishn, I had the same prob last year. It was my goal to actually get a muskie bigger then 12inches For opener I hit the French River, cast after cast without even a sniff. Spent 3 days chasing them, nothing but pike and a few monster smallmouth bass. I hit Balsam when the weather got warmer to try and get this skunk off my back. Seeing that the Kawartha's have a decent quantity of fish, I thought for sure I'd get into one. Well I picked the warmest, bluebird day you could ever imagine. Guess what? No fish, no sniffs, no nothing... Then one day I picked up some new blinge from Jose and was itching to try it out (Shimano Calais).. Hitting a few nice bass out on Gloucester Pool right before sunset.. The sun goes down and my dad and I continue to chuck away. I lob my Zara Spook Jr over a weed edge into about 15ft of water. The water absolutely explodes and I know exactly what I have on.. It wasn't a monster, maybe 36inches or so, but man did that ever get the blood pumping. I was as giddy as a schoolgirl when we finally got her into the net. A quick pic (horrible by the way, so fuzzy you can barely make out the fish) and back she went. I guess the point to my little story is that you'll get one when you least expect it, just keep at it!!!
  15. My dad has always used Larry's Taxidermy out in Dunsford. I haven't seen any mounts that compare, but it's all personal preference I guess
  16. You just need to look for the deals. I got a pair of Riverteks for $199 at BPS.
  17. I think I'll be signing up for this tourney also. I am still going to be in the beginner category!!! Those PA fish make it look like I know what I'm doing, lol
  18. Dave, remind me to only ever come up there to fish, never to live :)
  19. I had big issues when I first starting to use a centerpin. I was holding it like I would if I were vertical fishing for pickerel Didn't take long for my wrist to really start to ache. After a few pointers from a seasoned pinner, no more issues. Like Drifter said, I usually stick the butt into my side and use some leverage instead of holding the entire weight of the setup.
  20. As long as it's a manufacturer warranty, and not 3rd party then yes. 3rd party warranties are garbage. $1000 for a window switch? Are you driving a Maserati?
  21. Definitely going this year, free tickets would be even better!
  22. For small streams chasing brookies and browns and some juvenile rainbows, nothing beats a UL rod (6'6 or shorter), 4lb mono and a smallish spinning reel (750 series Shimano would come to mind) Get an assortment of #0 and #1 spinners and have a blast...
