  1. A little PowerService won't do any harm Grey or White bottles at crappy tire.
  2. No chance of leaving it in a forward gear while bringing it back down? (running) Might help take a little bit of the weight off..
  3. Jose, luckily for me the oldman isn't to fond of standing in the middle of a frozen river I hope the weight isn't a big issue, I did put it on the rod and it seems extremely well balanced. Most likely because of the reel seat being further back then normal. I let my oldman use the Calais, bad...bad idea!!! lol
  4. Inspectors aren't there to check workmanship, they are there to make sure it's done to code correct? Even if it looks like crap, but up to code, what do you expect the inspector to do? (honest question) Can he say redo it, even if it meets code?
  5. Thanks Paul! I gotta get out and give this thing a shot. Hopefully it performs as good as it looks.
  6. This thread makes it sound like whatever house someone buys, it's garbage. Which is a bit of a downer to tell you the truth.
  7. Hell, even with two people in decent moving water, tailing a fish is a pain in the ass. Even with the magical white glove and the grip of death!!!
  8. Dude, I though the stork brought them
  9. This is a family site!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am sure we'll break her in during opening
  10. So this was the infamous net you were waiting for Well worth the wait man, I'm sure it will be put to good use!
  11. A medium spinning outfit, half a shrimp and some small jigs will get you all kinds of things off the beach.. Pomp, whitings, mackerel, ladyfish, etc etc...
  12. You're killing me man, Mike makes me look like I know what I'm doing. If it wasn't for him, I'd still be out on the Notty cursing and swearing.
  13. That thing looks like a bomb, just waiting to go off.
  14. Wayne, you just made me spit coke all over my keyboard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm gonna leave that just the way it is
  15. The first time I fished with Sil, Dave and Berge they told me I'd be getting a new rod in no time. I kinda just shrugged it off thinking, that my Raven would just do me fine. Well, they were right I got a line on a custom Loomis IM6 3 piece. An old school rod from what I've been told, with a set back reel seat (I really had no idea what I was buying, lol). I got the approval from Mike and his buddy Fergie, so I guess I lucked out! First thing Mike did when we went down to fish some Lake E tribs, was grab it and start furiously cleaning the cork! He said nothing like clean cork to make a rod feel new again.. Today, I picked up another piece to the arsenal, a AngSpec 4.5 offset... I blame Okuma-Sheffield for this and his thread on centerpins!!!! Picked it up tonight, couldn't be happier. Just spent the last 2 hrs taking it apart, greasing and giving it the once over. This thing spins forever, there is just no other way to say it. I cannot wait to get out on the water for the maiden voyage.. So who wants to go fishing!?!?!
  16. You could say the same thing with a improperly weighted float. From what I've been told and read, the bait is supposed to be downstream from the float, not 5ft or horizontal, but definitely not below or behind it.
  17. I thought trotting your float was the exact opposite of this. Keeping a bit of tension on the line and getting rid of the slack inbetween the rod and the float.
  18. What kind of reel are you using that's limping along? My Streamside has no issues drifting in frog water.. Super smooth and trouble free. Have you taken it apart and cleaned/oiled the bearings? I do it after everyday on the river... A little maintenance goes a long way.
  19. Is startup up a big concern for people sidecasting anyhow? I could see if you were using the Wallis cast, but for sidecasting it seems like a moot point. I also think the differences between a decent reel and a top end reel (AngSpec) would only be noticed by someone who really puts their equipment through the ringer. Don't get me wrong, I'd love a little bling bling of an AngSpec reel out on the river, but would it actually help me over my budget Streamside? Maybe Mike can chime in and give some insight.
  20. This is another awesome vid. Listen to it when he does the flyby.. Sounds like a jet! <object width="480" height="295"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="295"></embed></object>
  21. I have a foul mouth, lets just say that We gotta get out again man!
  22. I dunno why, but I really noticed this while I was down in the US fishing for steel with Solo. Anytime I'd hook a fish I'd say "There we go!" I have a feeling I say this all the time! I think Cliff can also confirm this. BTW, Cliff doesn't say a thing when he hooks into one, he's like Chuck Norris When I release fish I usually call them sweetheart if it's a hen or 'big guy' if it's a male... I think there is something wrong with me.
  23. Looks like a fun day!! I am having withdrawls, I haven't been out in about two weeks.. I think it's time to change that.
  24. Steve, I can't say that I have done any blue zone fishing, unfortunately. I was just trying to compare these trout, to say muskie. Ski's also take quite a while to revive, but they do eventually swim away. Maybe I was assuming some people just didn't want to take the time to revive the fish and just kept them instead...
  25. Yeah, I really don't believe the whole 'Well we couldn't revive them so we just eat them' theory... Take a little extra time, revive the fish and let it go.
