  1. For a less expensive reel, I love my Streamside.. As long as you keep up with the maintenance, it should last you forever. Not to many moving parts to mess up
  2. I just stick those hand warmer packets in my wading jacket pockets. If I get cold, I put them in there for a few seconds and heat them up. One handed drifts!!!
  3. I would have a tough time dropping 17k on a boat without actually water testing it... Rabbit ears or a garbage pal full of water wouldn't likely show any issues if the engine had them anyhow.
  4. If the shaft is turning, and so is the left auger, somthing in that gear casing has blown. I've never seen the inside of one, but I'd assume it's some kind of ring/pinion.
  5. Not really.. Everything inside there will be clean, regardless if it's been taken care of or not.
  6. Mines doesn't expire until '10, but I can only buy a 1 year renewal online? (I'd like a 3 year) That seems a bit silly...
  7. I betcha the problem is inside that little differential
  8. A little PowerService won't do any harm Grey or White bottles at crappy tire.
  9. No chance of leaving it in a forward gear while bringing it back down? (running) Might help take a little bit of the weight off..
  10. Jose, luckily for me the oldman isn't to fond of standing in the middle of a frozen river I hope the weight isn't a big issue, I did put it on the rod and it seems extremely well balanced. Most likely because of the reel seat being further back then normal. I let my oldman use the Calais, bad...bad idea!!! lol
  11. Inspectors aren't there to check workmanship, they are there to make sure it's done to code correct? Even if it looks like crap, but up to code, what do you expect the inspector to do? (honest question) Can he say redo it, even if it meets code?
  12. Thanks Paul! I gotta get out and give this thing a shot. Hopefully it performs as good as it looks.
  13. This thread makes it sound like whatever house someone buys, it's garbage. Which is a bit of a downer to tell you the truth.
  14. Hell, even with two people in decent moving water, tailing a fish is a pain in the ass. Even with the magical white glove and the grip of death!!!
  15. Dude, I though the stork brought them
  16. This is a family site!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am sure we'll break her in during opening
  17. So this was the infamous net you were waiting for Well worth the wait man, I'm sure it will be put to good use!
  18. A medium spinning outfit, half a shrimp and some small jigs will get you all kinds of things off the beach.. Pomp, whitings, mackerel, ladyfish, etc etc...
  19. You're killing me man, Mike makes me look like I know what I'm doing. If it wasn't for him, I'd still be out on the Notty cursing and swearing.
  20. That thing looks like a bomb, just waiting to go off.
  21. Wayne, you just made me spit coke all over my keyboard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm gonna leave that just the way it is
  22. The first time I fished with Sil, Dave and Berge they told me I'd be getting a new rod in no time. I kinda just shrugged it off thinking, that my Raven would just do me fine. Well, they were right I got a line on a custom Loomis IM6 3 piece. An old school rod from what I've been told, with a set back reel seat (I really had no idea what I was buying, lol). I got the approval from Mike and his buddy Fergie, so I guess I lucked out! First thing Mike did when we went down to fish some Lake E tribs, was grab it and start furiously cleaning the cork! He said nothing like clean cork to make a rod feel new again.. Today, I picked up another piece to the arsenal, a AngSpec 4.5 offset... I blame Okuma-Sheffield for this and his thread on centerpins!!!! Picked it up tonight, couldn't be happier. Just spent the last 2 hrs taking it apart, greasing and giving it the once over. This thing spins forever, there is just no other way to say it. I cannot wait to get out on the water for the maiden voyage.. So who wants to go fishing!?!?!
  23. You could say the same thing with a improperly weighted float. From what I've been told and read, the bait is supposed to be downstream from the float, not 5ft or horizontal, but definitely not below or behind it.
  24. I thought trotting your float was the exact opposite of this. Keeping a bit of tension on the line and getting rid of the slack inbetween the rod and the float.
  25. What kind of reel are you using that's limping along? My Streamside has no issues drifting in frog water.. Super smooth and trouble free. Have you taken it apart and cleaned/oiled the bearings? I do it after everyday on the river... A little maintenance goes a long way.
