Gerritt, I dunno what it's worth buy my oldman has a John Deere and it's been nothing but dead nuts reliable. It's an older model, probably mid 90's or so, but the thing is built like a tank.

Really depends on what depths you are fishing, the conditions and the cover (rocks, log, the slop, etc) I like to use 1/4oz for tossing tube at docks and fairly shallow water. I'll up siza if I'm dragging tubes for smallies on lake shoals etc.. For the slop, heavy jig/pig to get to the bottom and braid as thick as rope, lol

Hopefully it's nothing more then a water/clay mix.

I like a long rod for jerkbaits. I run a 7' Avid for my baitcast setup which I throw everything with. I also run a 8' Compre for muskie fishing. A long rod makes everything easier if you ask me.
