  1. JP, you've just unleashed a monster!!!!! Mike, go have fun man, make sure to have ears open to absorb the crazy amounts of info JP will offer you I'm sure it will help you put more fish in the boat this year.
  2. I think a lot of amateurs won't have boats, I think that's one of the great points about a Pro/Am.. Get them out in a boat with all kinds of bells and whistles.
  3. I would guess FWD, and a silly auto 4WD system. Full torque to the rears wheels in lock mode ONLY until 6mph, anything over 18mph and the clutch system disengages leaving you without the rears... Gimme a locker over that anyday if I'm stuck somewhere...
  4. I think you'll end up with 5 guys, 2 boats and no fish.... If you want as many people as possible, get rid of those silly requirements.. Why not a OFC Pro/Am or similar? Match up the seasoned bass guys with the not so seasoned bass guys and go at it for a day.
  5. Showed up a wee bit late yesterday for the 7am start to the Fishing for Tyler tournament, but at least there was no line up!! lol Donated a quick $20 then it was off to the fishing grounds.. I ended up driving back to 9th and making a haul from there. Two quick whities and before you know it, it was time to come in.. On the way back I just had a feeling and had to drop the transducer down and take a look. My suspicions were right as I started marking fish right away. I look around and not a soul in sight.. Gotta love that. The fish loved to come up and take a quick look then back down to the bottom.. This was the trend for most of the day.. Finally I dropped my BadBoy + white tube jig down on the bottom, stirred some silt up and let it sit there for a good 30 seconds. Thinking that lure wasn't the one, I started to reel up real quick and this fish rockets from the bottom and absolutely smashes it. The rod buckles over and I think I have a whitefish from hell on... Pulling drag, direction changes...what did I have on? I get a quick peek down the hole after 15mins and what do I see? Mr Lake Trout!! w00t! Got him out of the hole, he posed for a few pics and back down he went.. Not a monster by any means, but a lot of fun out of 100+ feet of water. I apologize for missing the 1pm weighin time, I was looking forward to meeting some of you fellas..
  6. Good day out on the water guys! I gotta hook up with Tonyb and steal some of his whitefish secrets, that guy is always on fish!!!
  7. Did anyone see what JPD said or are we going to continue to rant and rave about the Vaughan event? lol
  8. I was on my way back around 12 or so after the morning whities bite when I ran into a lake trout and a few of it's friends.. I go to get back in the truck and it's 3pm, lol. I went by the park but everything was being packed up so I headed home. Sorry I missed everyone!
  9. You know that guy is going to get absolutely wrecked tonight!!!!!!!
  10. Uh, you know that's fake right? Fake as in all trained animals
  11. Why not make a simple cradle out of 2 dowels and a yard of mesh? Drill some holes, add 2 peices of rope for handles and you have a horizontal weigh station I don't like vertical holding big fish....
  12. Looking forward to meeting some OFC'ers tomorrow.. Also, can't beat the cause!! See ya all in the a.m.
  13. I gotta pick up some new blades.... I've heard the serrated blades cannot be sharpened?
  14. I just play dumb, talk a bit and move right in The guys that crack me up the most are the dudes 10ft from the bank and swinging flies like Mike mentioned above... Nailing fish right below them is a treat.
  15. Most likely my 7ft St.Criox Avid + Shimano Calais 200 baitcast setup running 20lb Suffix braid. Then there is all the float gear.. Hard to pick!!!
  16. I run a 6x zoom on my 747c using the narrow 20 degree beam and at 100ft the detail you can see is amazing.. It's like playing a video game with the whities. I'll never be out on the ice without a graph again... I don't even wanna think about all the wasted time I spent fishing blind.
  17. When fishing the Catt you need to leave at least 500ft between yourself or the locals, or they whine like babies.
  18. You rarely 'set the hook', it's usually on the upswing of the jig that you hook into the buggers. Gotta make sure your hooks are super sticky and keep the pressure on them.
  19. Rizzo is so serious, he had to repeat himself twice!
  20. My video would have been rated PG13 for language if I hooked that behemoth.
  21. Did you see that one chick that launched a good 300ft? If she would have landed it and rode it out, it would have been epic.
  22. Holy crap!! Glad to see the guy let it go...
  23. You can drive right over the crack, I did it on Saturday.. Not much of a crack anymore, more of a snow drift.
  24. Lots of lookers, not many takers....
  25. So don't mention to the customs agent that you have bait in the truck?
